AWS Community Day CPH - Three problems of Terraform
Ways my media product uses develop and challanges media conventions
1. Ways my media product
uses, develops and
challenges forms and
conventions of real media
products
2. Front cover
My front cover fits media conventions in many ways. For example,
the sky line at the top is a common feature in many magazines to
draw the reader to interesting stories. Also, I have placed the date
and the slogan of the magazine above and below the masthead, this
is a common area for them to be placed as the reader will see it
when they see the masthead and therefore will know it is an up to
date version. The bar code is in an area which can be seen, but not
ruin the look of the magazine. This is a
frequent factor in other magazines. Also, the
background of my image is plain, this is
common in many different genres of
magazines as it creates a focal point for the
model, and does not draw the eye to
something unnecessary.
3. Contents pages
My contents page fits media conventions as it doesn’t deviate from
forms of the conventions. It follows a specific house style of the
name/logo of my magazine, which appears on the front cover. Also,
the image relates to one of the main articles within the magazine,
this happens in a lot of music magazines. Also, the language I have
used can relate to my target audience. Its common for magazines to
relate to their target audience through the
language they use, this is because it is the
same way they speak to their friends, and
therefore the chosen magazine comes across
much friendlier and less formal.
4. Double page spread
My double page spread fits the conventions of a media product in
many different ways. One way is how the text has been laid out. The
text on my double page spread is laid out in columns, this is similar to
other interview pages on magazines. Also, the text is spread around
the model to create a more interesting look, I have also seen this
technique in other magazines. The title on this page is big and bold
and above the text, this fits the conventions of other media products
as this is also how they sometimes set out their page, the text is big
and bold and the band members name is in a different font to the
rest, so therefore can instantly be seen when the page is opened.
Also, the language I have used is how
my target audience want to be
approached. This is because is it
similar to how they act and speak to
one another.
