Cisco says video will be 80% of all internet search by 2019 yet the Reuters Institute found recently that publishers overproduce video and text still rules. So how do we start navigating social video with this in mind? Here are a few lessons you won't find talked about much. Also, if you want to succeed, make sure you have leaders who believe in you & support you.
2. This is not
a talk about
1. Must work without sound
2. Mobile friendly (ie square for vertical viewing)
3. Readable text
4. 60-90 seconds
5. Work on multi-platforms (reversionable)
6. Replicable
3. But it is about tips from
Digital people, growing up digital, working in digital

14. 4. Skip the obvious
Everyone is doing food and doing it in the same way.
“unless you’re cooking drugs or something that is
exciting, don’t do it” @carol_olona
15. 5. Give your videos love
It’s not enough just to publish. Every video
needs to be optimized for each platform.
16. “Produce it for yourself first. If
you’re not interested, your
audience won’t be either.
@mghbbc
17. Techno fear
Fear of being different
Fear of breaking the ‘rules’
Fear of experimenting
Fear of talking to
competitors
(or just laziness)

6. There
is still a
lot of
fear
21. Video is no different, apply your journalism skills.
It’s just a different format.
10. It’s still journalism
22. P.s. No one knows what
they’re doing
