Colour is a powerful design element
which can create profound
psychological and physiological
responses (Gaines and Curry, 2011)
According to Read et al. (1999), colour
has an impact on pupils’ cooperative
behaviour while the colours on
classroom walls affect productivity and
accuracy (Engelbrecht, 2003, Birren,
1997).
The concept here is not the rainbow
but using the colour of the rainbow to
benefit users from the use of colours
as a design elements

want them to improve reading skill by
offering a 3D printer so they can apply
what they read in the design section
Users need a sport centre as a part of
the rehabilitation centre, so you an area
to teaching users how to cook healthy
food and your concept can be designing
a space that raise the awareness of new
life style (food + sport)
If the space is exhibition you need to
design how users going to interact,
what story they are going to experience
Think how users are using the
space,
how do you want them to
experience the space,
How to improve their use of space

it can be more than one of

You have to read information
about your chosen concept,
For example: nature is not a
concept, the effect of natural
elements such as (day light,
water element, indoor garden)
can help you to built a design
concept
But you have to read first about its
effect and does this effect support
your space function
For example: indoor garden can
enhance space quality of an
airport but it would have a
negative effect for some of the
hospital rooms.

  • 5. Think how can you design this theoretical concept, How to turn theoretical knowledge to design? Colour is a powerful design element which can create profound psychological and physiological responses (Gaines and Curry, 2011) According to Read et al. (1999), colour has an impact on pupils’ cooperative behaviour while the colours on classroom walls affect productivity and accuracy (Engelbrecht, 2003, Birren, 1997).

You have to read information about your chosen concept, For example: nature is not a concept, the effect of natural elements such as (day light, water element, indoor garden) can help you to built a design concept But you have to read first about its effect and does this effect support your space function For example: indoor garden can enhance space quality of an airport but it would have a negative effect for some of the hospital rooms.
