Drill Through to FDM
• Drill Through – option exists now to drill through from a Financial
reporting HTML based report into the FDM underlying detail.
Setting can be enabled on the entire grid. If applicable, an
underline will exist on the report to facilitate a line to drill back on
(similar to Related Content). When launched, a new window(similar to Related Content). When launched, a new window
opens with FDM landing page.
• As always with drill through into FDM detail, the intersection must
be at a base intersection to facilitate the drill through to FDM.

data residing in the same report using Expansions or in a linked report using

• Using Expansion Ͳ You can set up viewing of sameͲreport detail data by enabling
expansion of summary rows and columns A report set up with expansionexpansion of summary rows and columns. A report set up with expansion
enables end users to select a summaryͲlevel row or column and view its related
detail in the same report (drill feature in HTML, then convert to PDF).
• In Expansions, formatting is applied across all members in the expanded dataIn Expansions, formatting is applied across all members in the expanded data
segment. Conditional formatting should be used to address this issue. If you have
detailed formatting or calculation requirements, then you must use single data
segments.
• Using Related Content Ͳ You can select a data cell and set up links to objects in

• New in the Fusion 11 releases is the option to add non Financial
reporting documents to a Book package. PDF, PowerPoint, Word
or Text files are available options.
• This is a great improvement to be able to produce a complete
report package of commentary and reports out of Financialreport package of commentary and reports out of Financial

• The documents must be uploaded to the Financial Reporting
Workspace before being inserted. No option exists to browse to a
local file.

Default POV
• Starting with release 11.1.1.3, you have the ability to set an initial default Point
of View for users when running Financial Reports. This applies to all of products
that can use Financial Reporting (HFM Essbase Planning)that can use Financial Reporting (HFM, Essbase, Planning).
• Administrators can modify an XML file that has the default Point of View
information included in it. It is configured via a combination of a properties file
and an XML file for Financial Reporting to apply it (have to be on server)and an XML file for Financial Reporting to apply it (have to be on server).
• The XML and default Point of View applies to a specified database connection
and it is not report specific. All reports that use the database connection will
then have the default Point of View imported with the utilitythen have the default Point of View imported with the utility.
• The file can be different by user. Once a user changes their Point of View, it will
override the initial default Point of View. Report ‘hard coded’ values will
override the POVoverride the POV.
• Security still applies in order to see data. This can help for setting recurring
prompt dimensions like Year, Period or Scenario. However, it may not correct or
help with an initial Entity as not all users may have access to the same entity

• In release 11.1.2, the Jconsole.exe utility lets administrators push Financial
Reporting preferences out to users. This is helpful as opposed to asking users to
update their preferences manuallyupdate their preferences manually.
• The Jconsole.exe preference push can update the following key preferences for
users (partial listing of total amount):
Default Annotation Setting Whether reports will show or not show annotations by– Default Annotation Setting: Whether reports will show or not show annotations by

– Decimal symbol: How a decimal is displayed on a report
– Location of POV: above the report or in a pane– Location of POV: above the report or in a pane
– Merging Equivalent Prompts: default setting on whether equivalent user generated

• The Jconsole.exe utility must be run on the Financial Reporting server.

• Fusion 11 improved the start up views that users can have. You
have many different options now for what users will see once the
log into the Workspace. Options include:
– Logging directly into a designated application
– Launching the Explore section for the Workspace Repository
– Launching into a Document (Custom HTML or Workspace page) or Favorite

• OBIEE+ integration with the EPM applications has been a key
strategy.

– OBIEE+ appears to be the direction for Oracle EPM.
– PreͲpackaged dashboard tool expected for HFM (CFO dashboards)
– Oracle released OSSM (Scorecard & Strategy Mgmt) which runs on OBIEE+. This
integrates with EPM and nonͲEPM systems.
b l i d i i ill i b d b– Web Analysis and Interactive Reporting will continue to be supported but appear to
have limited new development in them.
• Financial Reporting Strategy:
– Financial Reporting continues to have significant new development. It is heavily
integrated with the new Disclosure Mgmt and Financial Close Mgmt and had some
new functionality features in the Fusion 11 releases.

applications, but the direction appears to be different than the dashboard strategy
and Financial Reporting is expected to continue to evolve and have new functionality
