Access Teaching: ◦ Use/adapt small “chunks” of openly-licensed digital content (OER) such as photos, models, infographics, assignments, PP slides, etc. ◦ Use/adapt open textbooks Learning: ◦ If module resources are OER, students have free, any-time access (i.e. no cost, no access codes, digital access outside VLE)
  10. 10. Equity Supporting all students ◦ Health, safety, wellbeing, meaningful connectivity ◦ Issues: poverty, digital poverty, discontinuous study ◦ Further detail: USI COVID-19 Survey, INDEx Survey, etc. ◦ SDG4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all ◦ OER provide free, continual access to learning materials
  11. 11. 21. 21. To wrap up… Use/adapt OER – when designing online learning, OER are a great resource; can save time you can use for planning interaction, designing assessment, etc.) Create/share OER – when creating online materials or modules, think about sharing your own adapted/improved/localized resources openly Don’t stop at just using OER – opening your pedagogy and practices (OEP) can help transform learning & empower learners
