2.  The highest class were the nobility. It was originally
not hereditary but after sometime it had become so.
 The second class were the peasants. About 20% of
the population were dedicated agriculture and food
production and the other 80% were warriors, artisans
and traders.
 Slaves were their own class and Aztecs could in fact
become slaves because of debts, as punishment or
war captives.
 A slave could possess their own slave as well as
purchasing their liberty or be set free by marrying
their master.
 Travelling merchants were a small class also known
as spies.

to the Aztecs. They were often
presented at Aztec festivals.
 Poetry was the only occupation
allowed of for an Aztec warrior
when not in battle.

flower and the song” and could
be divided into different
