ENGL 102 Netiquette Statement In order to maintain a positive online environment for our class, we all need to follow the netiquette guidelines summarized below. All students are expected to: 1. show respect for the instructor and for other students in the class 2. respect the privacy of other students 3. express differences of opinion in a polite and rational way 4. maintain an environment of constructive criticism when commenting on the work of other students 5. complete all assignments on time 6. avoid bringing up irrelevant topics when involved in group discussions or other collaborative activities The following list summarizes the kind of behavior that will not be tolerated. Each item listed below is grounds for removal from the class. Students should not: 1. Show disrespect for the instructor or for other students in the class 2. Send messages or comments that are threatening, harassing, or offensive 3. Use inappropriate or offensive language 4. Convey a hostile or confrontational tone when communicating or working collaboratively with other students 5.USE ALL UPPERCASE IN THEIR MESSAGES -- THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF SHOUTING!!! 6. Place images in the body of their discussion questions messages. Other students and the instructor may be using a dial-up connection. If you feel compelled to refer to an image please either attach the image to the DQ message or upload the image to the Web and place a link to it in your message. If I feel that a student is violating any of the above guidelines, I will contact that student to discuss the situation in person. If you feel that a student is behaving inappropriately, please send me a private e-mail message explaining the situation as soon as possible. Discussion Board Tips / Rubric 1. Contribute in a timely manner and frequently. Do not wait until the end of the discussion window for each week. This will help you to stay on top of the discussion and to gain the most from it. If you develop a habit of just jumping in at the beginning, in the middle or at the end, you will not be able to read all the discussion comments, capture the key issues discussed and to contribute in a meaningful manner. 2. Read posts from others thoroughly and reflect before responding. 3. Contribution to the discussion should not be based on cutting and pasting information from different resources but rather on a summary of findings from key resources as they pertain to the topic being discussed in your own words. Respond to others’ comments by writing your comment first and then update your subject line. 4. Posts should be sound, with argument or analysis supported by research and literature, with attention to grammar, typos, and punctuation 5. Be clear and concise. Short comments may be appropriate in some cases but effective comments may need to be longer to be more comprehensive (Suggest 2 paragraphs maximum). 6. But I don’t know what to say! ...

Biology 112 Spring 2016 Scientific Journal Article Critique Each time you evaluate an article, you will complete Part I and Part II. You will submit on a typed hardcopy Part I., and Part II on the due date listed in your syllabus. Part I. 1. Skim the article (take light notes) · Read the abstract. The abstract informs you of the major findings of the study, and the importance. · What is the big picture of the study (this is done as you read the article) · Record terms or techniques you are not familiar with. · Include questions to parts of the article you do not understand. · If you are unfamiliar with concepts discussed throughout the article, then perform a Google search. 2. Re-read the article · Go to the Materials and Methods and Results section, and ask the following questions within each section · Was the study repeated? (You should know why a study must be repeated. If you do not know ask Prof. Olave or Dr. Bignami ASAP) · What was the sample size? Is this representative of a large population? · What were the variables? Controls? · What factors might affect the outcome (according to the investigators) · Interpret the data within each figure without looking at the text. Once you have done this, then read the text. · Understand the purpose of the Materials and Methods 3. Preparing to summarize the article: · Describe the article in your own words first. Can you explain to a friend without looking at your notes? If not, then most likely you do not understand. Go over your notes again. · What was the purpose of the study? · A reader who has not read your article must understand your summary. 4. Write a draft of your summary: · Begin to write the article without looking at your notes. If you choose to look at your notes, then you may not understand the article, and may unintentionally plagiarize. · Ask yourself the following questions to write your summary (without looking at your notes) in your own words: · What was the purpose of the study? · What questions were asked? · How did the study address these questions? · What assumptions did the author make? · What were the major findings? · What questions are still unanswered (according to the authors of the article) Part II. Critical Review and Assessment of the Article · In your summary, include your own analysis and evaluation of the article. · Do not include personal opinions · Use professional language. For example: Common language: Dipodomys merriami is a kangaroo rat that has a longer Loop of Henle, and this helps it survive better in the desert by retaining more water. Professional language: A longer Loop of Henle in Dipodomys merriami allows for greater water absorption, an adaptation that has led to survival in an arid environment. · How did this study answer questions proposed in the introduction section of the paper? · Include the limitations of the study: · Does the data support the co ...

Deliverable 6 - Making Contacts for the Future Top of Form Bottom of Form Assignment Content Nursing Home Admin future job 1. Top of Form Competency Design a personal plan to use social media to benefit the student both personally and professionally as well as minimize online mistakes and their impact. Student Success Criteria View the grading rubric for this deliverable by selecting the “This item is graded with a rubric” link, which is located in the Details & Information pane. Instructions Regardless of the career that you pursue or are currently pursuing, it is likely that the action of securing the resource of friends and professional acquaintances will be as valuable as any other action you could take. Part 1: First, take some time to reflect on your career and/or future career. If this includes more than one career path, then focus on the one that you are most concerned with in the long term. This might include working in a specific field, starting a business, or any other pursuit you are currently working on or plan to work on in the future. The choice behind the pursuit you will focus on is a personal choice. Write two pages on why this particular career and/or pursuit is your choice. Reflecting on the why behind your wish to achieve a goal will help to make it feel more tangible to you. This exercise of reflection should serve to remind you of your motivation and will be a good thing to refer back to if your motivation ever gets low. The "why" behind a pursuit is oftentimes more important than the "how" of a pursuit. If you have a strong enough "why," you will find the "how." Part 2: For the second part of this assignment, make a list of the types of people that could help you in your career and why those people would be good contacts to have. This list should be general in nature, meaning you should list professions or names of positions within companies rather than specific names. You should list general fields or positions like accountants, attorneys, marketing managers, CEOs, etc., rather than any specific names. Be sure to list at least five professions or types of people. Part 3: Next, consider which social media platforms you could use to make personal contacts that could help you in your pursuit along with why and how you could use each. Ensure that the platform and your use of it line up with the specifics behind your chosen future goal. Describe at least three different platforms you could use, along with why you would use it, and how you would use it for each of the three. · Platform # · Why? · How? · Platform # · Why? · How? · Platform # · Why? · How? Part 4: Finally, put all of this together and take action. The next part of this assignment is where you can make a big difference in your grade as well as in your real life pursuit of a goal! Reach out through the avenue of social media and make contact with three people that you do not currently know. Describe who you contacted and why .

Document Type: Article Subject Terms: *Strategic planning *Data mining *Computer-aided design *Endogeneity (Econometrics) Research methodology Logits Author-Supplied Keywords: causality endogeneity global strategy research methods theory NAICS/Industry Codes: 541512 Computer Systems Design Services Abstract: Research summary We review advances in research methodology used in global strategy research and provide suggestions on how researchers can improve their analyses and arguments. Methodological advances in the extraction of information, such as computer-aided text analysis, and in the analysis of datasets, such as differences-in-differences and propensity score matching, have helped deal with challenges (e.g., endogeneity and causality) that bedeviled earlier studies and resulted in conflicting findings. These methodological advances need to be considered as tools that complement theoretical arguments and well-explained logics and mechanisms so that researchers can provide better and more relevant recommendations to managers designing the global strategies of their organizations. Managerial summary We review advances in research methodology used in global strategy research and provide suggestions for improving researchers' analyses and arguments. Methodological advances in the extraction of information and in the analysis of datasets have helped researchers deal with challenges that bedeviled earlier studies and resulted in conflicting findings. These advances have provided researchers with the ability to obtain valid, unbiased results with clear and relevant managerial implications. Such methodological advances need to be considered as tools that complement theoretical arguments and well-explained logics and mechanisms so that researchers can provide better and more relevant recommendations to managers designing the global strategies of their organizations. Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.
