22. Treatment
Mebendazole 100mg BD for 3
days or
Albendazole 400 mg once or
Pyrental Palmoate10mg/kg once

23. Strongyloides stercoralis
Small Worm

25. Cutaneous larva currens
Intradermal migration of
strongyloides
Different from cutaneous
larva migrans

26. Heavy infections damage small intestine causing
diarrhoea,malabsorption and perforation
Disseminated infection in
immunocompromised(Strongyloidiasis hyperinfestation
syndrome)
Treatment
Ivermectin 200ug/kg daily for 2 days

27. PIN /THREAD WORM
Enterobius vermicularis

29. Harmless except for intense anal Itching

30. Moistened Perianal Swab or cellophane tape
to perianal skin followed by Microscopy

31. Personal Hygiene
Family treatment
Mebendazole 100mg once or
Albendazole 400 mg once or
Piperazine 4mg once
Repeat the treatment after 2
weeks

32. Whipworm
Trichuris trichiura

34. Usually asymptomatic
Heavy infections can
causepain, anorexia,
diarrhoea,malnutrition
and Rectal Prolapse

35. Stool Examination
Proctoscopy may reveal 3-5 cm long adult
worms
Treatment
• Mebendazole 100mg BD for 3days or
• Albendazole 400 mg once for 3 days or

37. Can Dogs and Cats Get Worms ?
