Section a: aural extract Extract from accompanied vocal music from 1900-1945 recognise aurally and explain techniques and effects used in the interpretation of the text; demonstrate an understanding of relevant tonal procedures; compare stylistic features with other examples from the repertoire; and comment on relevant features of interpretation in the performance. 40 MARKS
3. Section b: historical topics Three questions will be set on each topic, of which candidates are required to answer two. Candidates should be able to demonstrate: close familiarity with the prescribed repertoire of the chosen topic; an understanding of the characteristic techniques found in the topic and shown in the prescribed repertoire; and knowledge of the cultural and social context surrounding the prescribed repertoire through familiarity with related repertoire. 50 MARKS
