1. Who would be the audience for your media product?
2. Who will be my target audience? To understand what kind of audience will be most attracted to my fictional thriller movie, I researched what kind of audiences current supernatural thrillers, such as ‘Paranormal Activity’ (a film which is very similar to my movie idea), attract. From the information I gain, I will be able to develop what demographic I will target for my media product.
3. I used the rating statistics I found on popular movie website ‘IMDB’ (The Internet Movie Database) to asses who my target audience will be… Paranormal Activity’s ratings: From this I can identify that ‘Paranormal Activity’ is mostly popular with the age group 18 – 29, but more specifically males.
4. The Blair Witch Project’s ratings: From this I can identify that ‘The Blair Witch Project’ is, again, most popular to males and the 18 – 29 age category.
6. More Specifically… Milo Lawrence: 21 years old, He’s a student at Surrey University studying film and media. He hopes that when he graduates he can get a job within the film industry. His interests include skateboarding, football and movie watching. He loves music and plays guitar and piano in his spare time. He has a large group of friends and loves socialising. He often attends the cinema to watch new releases; his favourite genres are thrillers and action. Some of his favourite films include ‘The Bourne Series’, ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Paranormal Activity’. His favourite TV shows include ‘Top Gear’, ‘Hawaii Five-O’, ‘The Inbetweeners ‘and ‘Family Guy’. He often shops in stores like Burton and Top Man, but likes to purchase the odd Superdry item when he can afford it. He works part time as a Lifeguard in the local leisure centre. He may find ‘The Unknown’, my media product, a good film to watch and enjoy as it provides a tense, scary, dark and exciting viewing experience similar to ‘Paranormal Activity’ .
