1. Job Roles in the production of a Music Video
Director - they hold the most responsibility during the production relying on
them to help and guide the other jobs of the people involved in the
production. Their main duties include casting, script editing, shot composition,
shot selection and editing.
Camera Operators –this role involves having a look at the storyboard to see
which shots need certain types of angles and camera shots. They will work
closely with the Director who will guide them to finding which angle and shot is
the most suitable. A key skill would be to have a good sense of visual
composition, perspective and movement.
Lighting – help to provide the most relevant lighting and power supply to
either the set of location of the music video. They are in charge of to make
sure that the correct lights that they needed to use have the right bulbs in and
are working well. As well as this they will work closely with the director to get
the best outcome possible through the lighting.
Sound editor – their responsibilities are to prepare sound effects and the music
for the final production of the video. During the production of the video they
will have to make sure that microphones aren’t visible in the shot. This means
that they will have to work with the camera operator as well as the director
who will guide them to choose the best possible sounds effects and cuts that
can be made.
