BFSI sector is witnessing a paradigm shift towards the utilization of technology for streamlining processes, leading to a rise in
demand for IT professionals. Around 40% of the jobs posted by large BFSI firms on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19
were IT jobs, which is the highest compared to other job functions. The job share of IT jobs was also maximum for both 0-6
years and 6-15 years work experience requirement. The requirement of IT skills will be on the rise due to the increased demand
for skilled IT professionals.
Artificial Intelligence skills are one of the most sought after IT skills in the BFSI sector. According to a report published by
Accenture titled ‘Accenture Banking Technology Vision 2018’, 83% of Indian bankers were of the opinion that AI will work
alongside humans in 2019 and 2020. The technology which simulates human intelligence is transforming the operating
structures of BFSI firms. Incorporation of Artificial Intelligence Technology will automate routine work and enable the
workforce to engage in more creative tasks. Thus, the dependency on performing repetitive tasks manually will decrease with
the utilization of AI Technology and more number of opportunities will be created for the workforce in the form of intellectually
stimulating job roles that drive business growth and profitability.
Due to introduction of technologies like AI and evolving business needs , the hiring strategy of the BFSI organizations is now
focused increasingly on hiring tech. talent.

The trend of emerging technologies like AI in BFSI firms is revolutionizing the organizational processes and systems and has a
lot of potential for improving workforce productivity, sustaining cost optimization and increasing profitability. The increased
demand for technology professionals strengthens the need for the development of an effective candidate engagement strategy to
tap into the niche job market of IT professionals.
Large BFSI companies looked actively for IT professionals on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19 and required candidates
to possess strong IT skills such as Artificial Intelligence skills.
Many AI job roles were posted on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19, some of these are as follows :
• Artificial Intelligence Architect - Machine Learning/Deep Learning (8-20 yrs.)
• Senior Service Delivery Leader - Artificial Intelligence (10-14 yrs.)
• Machine Learning Engineer II - Artificial Intelligence (5-6 yrs.)
• Specialist - Artificial Intelligence (4-6 yrs.)
• Senior Analyst - Artificial Intelligence (2-3 yrs.)

• There was a rise of 3.8 percentage points in the job
share of finance jobs from April’19 to June’19.
• A rise of 1.53 percentage points in the job share of
sales and marketing jobs from April’19 to June’19, was
also observed.
• The job share of IT jobs rose by 3.98 percentage points
in May’19 compared to April’19.
• 39.6% of the jobs advertised by BFSI companies from
April’19-June’19 were IT jobs followed by Finance
and Consulting jobs-25.6% and 19.2% respectively
• The job share of Sales and Marketing jobs was 9.5 %.
• Apart from this, HR, BPO, Legal and Operations roles
were also posted.

• Gurgaon was the top location for attracting talent for IT roles, followed by Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune from
April’19-June’19.
• For 0-6 years work experience requirement in IT domain, maximum number of job vacancies were advertised in Gurgaon,
followed by Bangalore.
• For 6-15 years work experience requirement, Gurgaon and Bangalore were the preferred locations. Jobs were also
advertised in Hyderabad and Pune.
• Java Developer - Application Server (3-6 yrs.)
• Senior Principal/Master Principal Engineer - Android (3-8 yrs.)
• Software Test Engineer - Automation Testing (2-4 yrs.)
• Java Developer - Data Structure/Algorithm (2-5 yrs.)

• For 6-15 years work experience requirement, recruiters looked for candidates to fill positions mostly in Mumbai, Gurgaon
and Bangalore.

(BFSI) companies has been included and the overall hiring activity data has been presented. The employee size of the
companies considered is above 1000.
Data has been extracted from iimjobs and hirist portals and the total sum of the jobs posted on both the platforms has been
taken into account. The presentation covers points such as hiring by functional area, hiring by work experience, top locations-
IT, Finance and Consulting jobs and mentions some of the jobs advertised from April’19-June’19.

  • 3. INTRODUCTION Page: 3 BFSI sector is witnessing a paradigm shift towards the utilization of technology for streamlining processes, leading to a rise in demand for IT professionals. Around 40% of the jobs posted by large BFSI firms on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19 were IT jobs, which is the highest compared to other job functions. The job share of IT jobs was also maximum for both 0-6 years and 6-15 years work experience requirement. The requirement of IT skills will be on the rise due to the increased demand for skilled IT professionals. Artificial Intelligence skills are one of the most sought after IT skills in the BFSI sector. According to a report published by Accenture titled ‘Accenture Banking Technology Vision 2018’, 83% of Indian bankers were of the opinion that AI will work alongside humans in 2019 and 2020. The technology which simulates human intelligence is transforming the operating structures of BFSI firms. Incorporation of Artificial Intelligence Technology will automate routine work and enable the workforce to engage in more creative tasks. Thus, the dependency on performing repetitive tasks manually will decrease with the utilization of AI Technology and more number of opportunities will be created for the workforce in the form of intellectually stimulating job roles that drive business growth and profitability. Due to introduction of technologies like AI and evolving business needs , the hiring strategy of the BFSI organizations is now focused increasingly on hiring tech. talent.

INTRODUCTION Page: 4 The trend of emerging technologies like AI in BFSI firms is revolutionizing the organizational processes and systems and has a lot of potential for improving workforce productivity, sustaining cost optimization and increasing profitability. The increased demand for technology professionals strengthens the need for the development of an effective candidate engagement strategy to tap into the niche job market of IT professionals. Large BFSI companies looked actively for IT professionals on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19 and required candidates to possess strong IT skills such as Artificial Intelligence skills. Many AI job roles were posted on iimjobs and hirist from April’19-June’19, some of these are as follows : • Artificial Intelligence Architect - Machine Learning/Deep Learning (8-20 yrs.) • Senior Service Delivery Leader - Artificial Intelligence (10-14 yrs.) • Machine Learning Engineer II - Artificial Intelligence (5-6 yrs.) • Specialist - Artificial Intelligence (4-6 yrs.) • Senior Analyst - Artificial Intelligence (2-3 yrs.)

HIRING BY FUNCTIONAL AREA-BFSI Page: 5 Quarter: Apr’19-Jun’19 • There was a rise of 3.8 percentage points in the job share of finance jobs from April’19 to June’19. • A rise of 1.53 percentage points in the job share of sales and marketing jobs from April’19 to June’19, was also observed. • The job share of IT jobs rose by 3.98 percentage points in May’19 compared to April’19. • 39.6% of the jobs advertised by BFSI companies from April’19-June’19 were IT jobs followed by Finance and Consulting jobs-25.6% and 19.2% respectively • The job share of Sales and Marketing jobs was 9.5 %. • Apart from this, HR, BPO, Legal and Operations roles were also posted. HIRING FOR IT ROLES-BFSI Page: 6 • Gurgaon was the top location for attracting talent for IT roles, followed by Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune from April’19-June’19. • For 0-6 years work experience requirement in IT domain, maximum number of job vacancies were advertised in Gurgaon, followed by Bangalore. • For 6-15 years work experience requirement, Gurgaon and Bangalore were the preferred locations. Jobs were also advertised in Hyderabad and Pune. • Java Developer - Application Server (3-6 yrs.) • Senior Principal/Master Principal Engineer - Android (3-8 yrs.) • Software Test Engineer - Automation Testing (2-4 yrs.) • Java Developer - Data Structure/Algorithm (2-5 yrs.) • Principal Engineer - Manual Software Testing (2-5 yrs.) • Senior Software Engineer - Java/Data Structure/Algorithm/Hadoop (9-15 yrs.) • System Analyst - Java/UML/OOPS (6-10 yrs.) • Mobile App Developer - Objective C/SDK (5-8 yrs.) HIRING BY WORK EXPERIENCE-BFSI Page: 10 0-6 years Work Experience 6-15 years Work Experience Note: Jobs with maximum work experience greater than specified range have been excluded in the calculation. • 35.1% jobs requiring 0-6 years work experience were IT jobs, followed by Finance and Consulting jobs-30% and 25.7% respectively. • Maximum number of jobs (0-6 years work experience requirement) were advertised in Gurgaon, followed by Mumbai and Bangalore. • 42.7% jobs requiring 6-15 years work experience were IT jobs, followed by Finance and Consulting jobs-20.2% and 14% respectively. • Majority of the jobs (6-15 years work experience requirement) were advertised in Gurgaon. Data of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) companies has been included and the overall hiring activity data has been presented. The employee size of the companies considered is above 1000. Data has been extracted from iimjobs and hirist portals and the total sum of the jobs posted on both the platforms has been taken into account. The presentation covers points such as hiring by functional area, hiring by work experience, top locations- IT, Finance and Consulting jobs and mentions some of the jobs advertised from April’19-June’19.
