4. one prescription
for most cases,
and to finish to
an "end of
appliance
therapy"

5. To provide idealized tooth position prior to
appliance removal
Allow the teeth to settle to Andrews non
Orthodontic normals

8. Key : canine & premolars
Center of bracket at max convexity of
crowns on posterior teeth. (center of CC)
Canine bracket more incisally
1 mm + lateral incisors
Central incisors = lateral incisors
www.indiandentalacademy.com
11. Most variable
Centre occlusogingivally & mesiodistally
To offset the rotation
accompanying distal traction
Andrews 20
samewww.indiandentalacademy.com
12. 1-1.5 mm higher incisally than the rest of
occlusal plane
Andrews -70
reciprocal effect of building more
positive torque into the incisors
2° more distal tip
They are being retracted in most
treatment
+ 20

13. 1-1.5 mm shorter than maxillary canine
tip.(To eliminate the need to place reverse
and compensating bends into the finishing
wires)
Andrews
70 & 30

15. Mesiodistally – prominent buccaal
developmental ridge (long axis)
Occlusogingivally – maximum convexity
(center of CC)
www.indiandentalacademy.com
16. 3° distal tip from normal
(20)
Entire buccal segment
These teeth settle more mesially
than the uppers &
simultaneously rotate mesially
thus necessitating extra distal
rotation

17. 0.5-1 mm higher than the rest of occlusal
plane
same
Andrews 50

18. 0.5-1 mm more incisal than canine tip (level COS)

39. Disadvantages of additional anterior tip
Significant drain on A/P anchorage.
Increased the tendency to bite deepening
during alignment stage.
Brought upper canine root apex too close to
the first premolar root in some cases.

42. Torque is not efficiently expressed owing to
two reasons:
The area of torque application is small and
depends on the twist effect of a relatively
small wire compared with the bulk of tooth.
Because full thickness wire will prevent
sliding .019/.025 steel wires in .022 slot are
used. These wires have ‘slop’ of about 100
depending on the tolerances in bracket and
wire manufacturing and the amount of wire
edge ‘rounding’ or ‘radiusing’
