MAHA Global and IPR: Do Actions Speak Louder Than Words?
Image analysis
1. Katy Perry
Pink, short, ‘cute’ and girly outfit suggests femininity
along with the pout in which she is making.
The way her hair is curled suggests she is innocent where
as the shears she is holding suggests she is not.
The shears are in the primary optical area suggesting that
they are the main object of the image.
The background is a tinted colour which helps the main
image stand out much more. Especially within the
contrast between the pink and the background.
2. Little mix
The colours of clothing in which they’re
wearing are bright, vibrant and eye catching.
Each of their hair styles are different and vary
in colour.
The hair colours are bold suggesting they are
eccentric.
Their proxemics are that they are all stood
close showing that they have a huge friendship
bond
Their pose along with their facial expressions
portrays them as being fierce and strong.
Their pose is firm and strong suggesting
dominance and power.
The lighting within the image is extremely high
key.
3. Lil wayne
The genre in which lil wayne sings is rap.
Rap music is stereotyped towards rebellious men who cause
trouble. The hand gesture in which he is making is seen to be
an interpretation of a gun, which is seen to be a phallic object
showing his masculinity as well as posing a threat. He is
topless which suggests hes proud and vain towards himself
However the fact he is covered in tattoos portrays he also
wants to be concealed, as if he has something to hide. The
tattoos consist of a range between words and images
including skulls, the word ‘bang’, fire flames, which each
suggest he isn’t afraid of anything. He is also smoking which
portrays he doesn’t care about himself as well as the gun hand
gesture. The image is in high key lighting.
He is also wearing two necklaces relating to religion as it is a
cross suggesting he is religious. They are both a mix of silver
and gold showing his welfare and male dominance.
4. Beyonce
The colours of the image are black and
white which contrasts one-and-other
The colour black is often seen to portray
something evil and is also seen to be a
very powerful colour, where as white is
associated with being pure, clean, fresh
and good which shows shes a versatile
artist.
The lighting is quite dark but there is
also high key lighting shining upon her
skin.
Her heels shoe feminimity along with
fierceness.
The way in which she is lay shows
fierce, as well as Beyonce she is also
known as Sasha Fierce. Her eye
,makeup also portrays the fact shes not
scared of anything. Shes coming across
in a ‘bring it on’ way.
5. Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus is known to be a fearless ‘crazy’ girl
within the newspapers. This image portrays that
she doesn’t care about anything as she has her
eyes closed and tongue out, this suggests that
nothing is ‘worth’ her time. Her tattoo which is
one of the focus points of the image says ‘love
never dies’ which clashes with the careless
attitude. Her piercings and tattoos are stereotyped
as rebellion along with her facial expression of
sticking her tongue out.
This photo follows the rule of thirds
The image is in high key lighting. Everything in the
image is white other than her lips which come
across as the focal point of the image as they’re
bright red
6. Jessie J
The image shows symmetry, her fringe and the
way her hands are held next to her face are the
exact same on opposite sides. The black colours
really stand out and match the fierce pose in
which she is pulling, the way she looks portrays
that she is in control,
Everything looks in its place, there is not a single
hair out of line, her eyes stand out against her
pale skin in contrast to her black nails, hair and
lips
7. Lady gaga
The image shows lady gaga
holding a microphone, her fringe
and the way her hair falls shows
she has a ‘girly girly’ side as well
as the diamond and crystal
microphone. However the colour
black and the face accessory of a
lightning strike which suggests
she has a dark side. This is also
shows in the way she is posing.
Also comes across as confident.
The gloves she is wearing
contrasts with her choice of
clothing. Black and white contrast
well together. Everything looks in its place, the picture is clearly in high key lighting
8. Jay Z
The 8th
image I decided to analyse is of
Jay Z. the image is in black and white.
The pose in which he is puling creates a
fierce and strong look
You can tell his genre is rap.
The lighting is low key amongst his hat
but high key on his face.
The hat and tie and earing which he is
wearing portrays him to be a ‘gangster-
like’ artist.
He is looking the opposite way to the
camera which shows a lack of being
interested.
His face is also in the primary optical
area which shows it is the main focus
point of the image.
