Staff Nurse in Medical Intensive Care Unit.
NIMS is a 350 bedded super specialty Hospital. The MICU is well equipped
with the latest machinery and can at a time bed 08 patients.

 Extensive experience in Nephrology and Neurology ICU
 Wide knowledge of open heart surgery procedures
 In depth knowledge of nursing equipments and specialized equipments of
ICU
 Familiarity with surgical instruments

 Ability to stand, bend, reach, kneel, move, lift patients and equipment up to

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Admission of patients
 Assessment and monitoring vitals and other routine activities of the unit
 Implementation of nursing care plan.
 Assisting in various life saving procedures like CPR, Intubation,
Defibrillation, suctioning, CVP and Arterial line insertion, temporary
pacing, chest tube insertion and care.
 Receiving the patientfrom OT who has undergone cardiothoracic surgeries.
 Care of patient on ventilator support, recognisation of troubleshooting and
its correction.
 Continuous ECG and Vital signs monitoring
 ABG sampling for periodical investigation
 blood transfusion and maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance
 Recognisation of arrhythmias and its correction

4.  To check emergency equipments kept near the patient
 Teaching the patients about active and passive exercise to minimize the risk
of thromboembolism.
 Engaging the patient in physiological and psychological rehabilitation
activities.
 Giving general nursing care for maintaining personal hygiene and infection
control.
 Participates in the orientation of all members of staff to unit routine
 Carry out Doctors order in conformity with hospital and legal limitations.
 Ensure that all documents are complete, both accurate and legible for
improving quality of critical care.
 Supports and assists the head nurse in establishing good working
