A Critical Study of Alfred Korzybski’s Writings
Manhood of Humanity(1921) and
Science and Sanity(1933)
 Human species is the first time –binder in the sense, he had
realised his new faculty and new dimension to analyse the
difference between man and animal
 Fellow-men if infected with false ideas and teachings, they
pollute the whole social ecology and balance between
human-nature and time-binding capacity of the other men
and women.
 Man if for survival gets selfish and greedy, makes social
conditions as such, where animal standards prevail, he in a
way oppress his time-binding capacity and suppress his
real human nature

 Whatever man does, then his thought, action and
language breeds his time and this sets ‘the image of
man’.
 His efforts determine accomplishments, tragedies
and become modus operandi of our reactions or
assumptions for changing the structure.
 The cultural conditioning and cultural continuity is
based on consciousness of time-binding.
Time-binding capacity
 Language, words, experience, knowledge formulate
structural implications of time-binding energies.
 Energies are stimulants for initiation, self-direction and
self-improvement.
 Way of thinking engenders human evaluations.
 The perception as regards physical existence and human
affairs involves feelings, abstraction and an illusion.
 Time-binding potentialities lie in real truths, which actually
are unreal truths, imaginary; yet conforming to verbal and
objective world to which a man believes.
The Time-binding Potentialities
 The totality of World War I and its consequences is driven
out of negative time-binding process in words, deeds,
thoughts and language.
 Unless human (a unit of mankind) is treated as an organic
whole of ecology and environment, there cannot be higher
order of achievement; because time-binding motifs and
symbols are misunderstood.
 The sense of totality in time-binding function ( in context
of human values) reduces human difficulties, mental ills
and pervades the power of spirit and harmony, instead of
survival of the fittest.

  • 5.  The totality of World War I and its consequences is driven out of negative time-binding process in words, deeds, thoughts and language.  Unless human (a unit of mankind) is treated as an organic whole of ecology and environment, there cannot be higher order of achievement; because time-binding motifs and symbols are misunderstood.  The sense of totality in time-binding function ( in context of human values) reduces human difficulties, mental ills and pervades the power of spirit and harmony, instead of survival of the fittest.
