The forests of the planet are mainly located near the tropics where the climate is hot, as the largest forests tend to be in hotter areas close to the equator. The top five largest forest bodies are the Amazon rainforest, Ecuador; Beech Forest, Germany; Jiuzhaigou Valley, China; Black Forest, Germany; and Daintree Rainforest, Australia. Deforestation is a major problem in many parts of the world, especially in areas with the largest forests, as trees are cut down and sold for wood products. Scientific studies have found a connection between deforestation and rising global temperatures, as cutting down trees can lead to less rainfall and higher temperatures in affected areas.
