With the rise of inexpensive, wifi and bluetooth low energy enabled electronics, this hardware revolution is internet and mobile controlled, all through simple bridges to build the electronics intelligence in familiar web languages. The release night may have made sense at one point, but in an always-on world striving for shorter cycle times, small batch sizes and limiting work in progress, the release night and the big-bang release cutover have become an anti-pattern that stifles innovation & leads to wider outages, not smaller ones. The three steps of Progressive Delivery can be used to safely release during business hours, "limiting the blast radius" (time and scope) of unanticipated issues that surface in production: Decouple deployment from release. Control code exposure (who new code is "released" to) by targeting a list of users, user attributes or randomized but persistent "buckets" Observe who has been exposed to new code and watch for the differences in system health and user behavior for the "on" and "off" groups, rather than watching global metrics to determine "how the release is going."

Mobile development offers a lot of options. To develop native apps, you can use Java or Kotlin on Android. On iOS, you can use Objective C or Swift. There are other options, too. You can build hybrid mobile apps and Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). Hybrid mobile apps are those created with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, and CSS) that look like native apps. PWAs have the ability to work offline and act like mobile apps. In this talk, we'll explore a few different mobile technologies: Ionic 4 (with Angular), React Native, and PWAs. Thanks to enhancements in machine learning systems, coupled with the rapidly deployable nature of serverless technology as a middleware layer, we are able to create highly sophisticated data insight platforms to replace the huge time requirements that have typically been required in the past.
