Armenian Genocide Memorials
The Armenian genocide left the community with many devastating tragedies, such as death and destructions of their home and
culture. The Armenian's process survival and rebuilding from such atrocities can be found in their memoirs, monuments, and
museums. The role of these three aspects is important for giving those who have been affected a voice, for other cultures to pay
tribute to them, and to educate people about the truth of what occurred. These three aspects, combined, also help fight against the
idea of denial and a great example of how reliant a community of people can be. As tragic and devastating genocide is, the
process of remembering is important for not only the Armenian people, but for mankind as well. The role of a memoir is ... Show

Memorials are not just seen in Armenia, but in many other countries around the world. The Armenian National institute website
displays a total of two hundred memorials in thirty–two countries' memorials for the Armenian Genocide–countries such as
Argentina, Canada, India, and many others. The role of these memorials, in other countries, is the symbolic remembrance of what
occurred and continued acknowledgment of the Armenian community. For instance, in Calcutta, India, they have a monumental
sculpture paying tribute to the Armenian genocide, in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary. The inscription on the sculpture
says, "our glorious Martyrs in grateful tribute to over one million martyrs of the Armenian Nation who lost under most tragic
conditions during the Great World War 1914–1918" (www.armenian–genocide.org). All of the memorials around the world have
different visual cues and representations of how they pay homage. In France, their monument represents more resistance; whereas
in Jerusalem, it symbolizes death (Watenpaugh.lec3/29/16). All thirty–two countries are commemorating the people who have
suffered–but more notably, they are showing their

Several studies have explored HIV/AIDS knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of healthcare workers in developing
countries. Results revealed existence of anxiety and fear of contagion accompanied by lack of knowledge on HIV transmission
and methods of prevention (Mbanya et al., 2001; Walusimbi and Okonsky, 2004; Oyeyemi et al., 2006). Nurses attitudes towards
patients with HIV/AIDS have been shown to indicate negative and discriminatory behaviors (Mbanya et al., 2001; Oyeyemi et
al., 2006; Reis et al., 2005), while fewer studies have pointed to more empathic attitudes (Walusimbi and Okonsky, 2004). The
lack of a vaccine or cure for HIV/AIDS makes information, education and communication (IEC) programs the only available
approach for combating the pandemic (International Institute for Educational Planning/UNESCO, 2003). The positive impact of
these programs on HIV/AIDS KAP has been previously reported (Uwakwe, 2000; Ezedinachi et al., 2002). It is imperative for
nurses to be knowledgeable about HIV/ AIDS transmission, prevention and treatment in order to maintain quality of care while
coping with a universal increase in workload (Mazloomy and Baghianimoghadam, 2008). No empirical data exists on the
knowledge and attitudes of nurses towards HIV/AIDS at Kasr El Aini Teaching Hospital of Cairo University. Hence the aim of
this study was to assess the basic knowledge of these nurses as regard HIV/AIDS and its available

The Magarian Family: The Armenian Genocide
"Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?"said by Adolf Hitler before the invasion of Poland"
(Boghosian). Today this is true. Not many people in the United States know about the Armenian Genocide let alone who
Armenians are. It is impossible to know any of this without the knowledge of how the Genocide started, where is Armenia and
what it was like for Armenians during the genocide. The Magarian family is Armenian, and Leon Phillobultian escaped the
Genocide in 1915 to start the Magarian family.

He was a very smart man who could talk his way around because he spoke many languages. In 1914 his family was killed
because of the genocide and he had no family left. At the time the Turks were trying to find and kill Armenians so he had to hide
so he would not be killed. He first went to Lebanon when the genocide started. He stayed there for a while because he was
waiting for his brother Alphonse who everyone called Paps to help him escape. His brother already went to America at the start of
the world war and became a citizen. He then went to Lebanon to help out Leon by helping him escape. Since his brother was a
U.S citizen he could sponsor Leon and bring him to America. Leon came to America with no money, food, or family and changed
his name somewhere in Ellis Island to Magarian. His brother helped him through medical school at Loyola University. He then
married an American women named Pauline Struel and had three kids including Edward Magarian(My Grandpa). Pauline was the

Socialism In The United States
The logistical system through which all goods and services are distributed and carried out is of concern to everyone within it. In
the United States, through our esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a choice between
two right–wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda attacks one–party states, but is this only to accentuate the
difference between us and them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a citizen whose
policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure of our education system to curtail the free thought of an
individual to the extent where their political ideals cannot be labeled as "liberal" or "conservative?" Socialism ... Show more

More recently it seems that most profit lies in company–wide specialization, and the avant–garde of most industries lies entirely
in individual companies working towards their own goals. In fact, recently competition has been avoided amongst very large
companies, as it is more profitable to exploit the consumer by limiting their options. When the consumer has few to no options,
there is little incentive to invest in the improvement of services. Capitalism can be both a catalyst and a hinderance for
improvements, and it would be disingenuous to assume socialism couldn't at least match capitalism in this regard. For example in
socialistic societies, financial sustainability wouldn't be a concern for freelance or employed thinkers. The idea that capitalism is
holistically superior innovatively stems from capitalism's omnipresence on a global scale. The ex post facto attribution of
innovative technology to capitalism is a post hoc ergo propter hoc

Armenian Genocide Essay
The Armenian Genocide was one of the worst planned killings in history taking over one and half million lives. First having
disputes with the Turkish government in 1894, Turkish military officials, soldiers and ordinary men sacked Armenian villages and
cities and massacred their citizens. This is also known as the Armenian Holocaust. Being part of a religious minority in the region
the Armenian people were seen as inferior to the Muslims and having very few political and legal rights. Issues increased during
World War One when Ottoman religious authorities began a holy war against all christians expect their allies. Turkish military
leaders began to think if the Allies won that the Armenians would turn and fight for them. As the war continued ... Show more

The monument is a symbol of respect to the people showing the history of the Genocide and raising the awareness around it. We
did not have a target audience as the memorial is for both people part of the genocide as well as people who want to learn about
it. The pathway is lined with birch trees on either side with white tulips in front of it. These trees show the strict control the
soldiers had as they marched the prisoners to be executed, surrounded with no way out. To the left of the pathway is a white
building with the Armenian flag embroidered on the floor. This is to symbol patriotism and give the emotion of remorse to the
people affected by the genocide. People can pay a small fee to have their names engraved onto the stones. Outside the main
building is a garden with the flowers planted in order of the flag. The waterfalls compliment the flowers and the walkway to give
an emotion of peace and hope before entering the building. The first one in the garden shows "never ending tears" with the lasting
effect the genocide has had on people. This is used as a prayer area for people looking to be at peace with the past. The pathway

Since the independence of Armenia, the political and militant conflicts of Artsakh has been a struggle to the Armenians in
Armenia, Artsakh, and diaspora. Before taking any kind of position or action, it is important for me to state that Artsakh is an
Armenian Land, with a majority of Armenian population living on it. In fact, Artsakh was given to Azeri by a mistake of the
Soviet Union, and historically the majority of the population has been Armenian. From that perspective, it is important to provide
a full safety and security for our brothers and sisters in Artsakh, with different kind of political solutions without conceding any
of their right of land ownership and personal/familial protection. On the other hand, it is crucial for the Armenian government not
to take any step back geographically. Artsakh was baptized with the blood of our honorary soldiers in the Armenian Army and
other revolutionary heroes. it is impossible to betray their spilled blood and legacy that draw the freedom of the Armenian
population living there. It is extremely crucial not to forget the sacrifices of Shahen Meghrian, Mher Choulhajian, Adam

What Are The Archetypal Elements Of A Hero's Journey
Henri Gurgenyan
Mr. Falcon
HUM 115

Essay #4 Since ancient times, heroes were considered to be an important part of people's everyday lives. While their stories often
differed in content and the messages they carried, most heroic tales followed the same pattern– The Hero's Journey. In the 1940s,
mythologist and writer Joseph Campbell decided to analyze the mythic and archetypal principles embedded in the structure of
stories. Campbell's Book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, identified similar patterns that most myths and stories would follow.
He created a structure to identify the heroes' narratives and uncover their missions. Christopher Vogler, a Hollywood executive
producer, came up with twelve stages of a Hero's Journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Operation Nemesis: The Survival Of The Armenian Genocide
To rid the world of the horrid people that the Young Turks were, a small number of the remaining survivors of the Armenian
genocide took it into their hands to kill the Turks in retaliation and to further prevent them from killing again. From 1920 to 1922,
a group of Armenian men carried out Operation Nemesis, tasked with killing the Turks who had escaped to Germany in hopes of
surviving the wrath that would be waiting for them in Armenia. Starting on May 28, 1918, the Armenian National Council
declared the independence of Armenia. Hovhannes Kachaznuni and Alexander Khatisyan, both members of the ARF, moved to
Yerevan, Armenia to issue the announcement of Armenian independence on May 30, 1918. Yerevan then became the capital city

Essay On Conformity In Brave New World
When growing up, parents often tell their kids to be themselves. In today's society, adults are individualistic, but many of them
cross the line. Being an individual can make a person stand out, but in the process people do not agree on problems that matter. In
Brave New World, individuality is not an option to live in their society. This world enticed with other people's opinions conforms
their society. Conformity transformed individuality in Brave New World making it non–existent, but America's rise in
individuality is setting the country up for failure. Conformity is one of the extremes that occur in the Brave New World society.
Huxley explained that people who are conformed make a more stable community. The book starts out with, "A squat grey
building...CENTRAL LONDON HATCHERY AND CONDITIONING CENTRE, and, in a shield, the World's state motto,
COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY" (Huxley 3). The motto is very interesting because identity has been pushed to the side
in this community. Identity in this community only exists within the stability of the community. Also, they have an entire building
dedicated to conditioning. By changing how they are brought up, the community can only have one ideology because they are all
conformed to believe the same thing.
Many people learn who they are while they grow up, kids are often told to be themselves. In this society they are quietly told who
they are through hypnopedia. While they sleep, recordings say, "I'm so glad I am a Beta...I'm

The Make-Up of an Armenian Family Essay
The Make–Up of a Family "If the family were a fruit, it would be an orange, a circle of sections, held together but separable –
each segment distinct." Letty Cottin Pogrebin So I fully agree with this quotation that a family is a unity of different members and
every person in this united circle has a right to decide on his/her lifestyle though this orange rule never works in the Armenian
families. Armenian families are not like oranges they are more like peaches. The two juicy and the most powerful parts of the
peach are the parents who govern over the seed, i.e. the child, which remains inside until we eat the peach. As soon as the peach
is eaten the seed is freed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Hovanness Toumanian Genocide And...
For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated; however in this essay, I'll focus solely
on the period from 1850–1915, which is just before the occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands
were controlled by two empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empire which controlled
Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was ruled by
the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert,
Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led
to this disheartening division of the Armenians' fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works
of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian's writings. In this essay, I will compare Eastern Armenia versus

Mountains, those mourning mountains" (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase "black hordes" to symbolize the
Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians and conquer the remaining Eastern division of their native
land. The author educates the audience by using symbolism to portray how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead,
and as a result their people were being forced to comply with the newly enforced Russian

A Brief Note On Armenia And The Soviet Nation
Like everyone else in my family, I was born in Yerevan, Armenia. My parents decided to move our family to the United States in
2000 to live with my grandfather on my mom's side. We left our entire family in Armenia to be able to have a better life in the
United States. Armenia was a soviet nation and when the USSR collapsed, so did most of Armenia's economy. People struggled
to make money and life there quickly became very hard. My parents always tell me stories of when my brother and I were babies
and what our family had to do to be able to provide food and clothes for us. There were certain times a day where families got
electricity and water. People that didn't live in the city lives in ore rural areas that were referred to villages since they were
underdeveloped. People in the city lived in apartments. It was very common for people to live with entire families in a small
home or apartment. My parents lived in my dad's family home in the city with his entire family of twelve people. My parents
struggled a lot to be able to keep my brother and I comfortable through the freezing winters and scorching summers. Life in
Armenia became too hard for them. That's when they decided it was time to make a huge change and leave everyone we knew
behind to move to a foreign nation with a dream of having a better life. We moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to live with my
grandfather. I don't remember much from that time since I was so young, but I do remember how different everything was.

The Ottoman Empire : The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire
One year into World War I, 1915, and the Ottoman Empire is in a downward spiral. The Ottoman Empire had been a very
powerful empire ever since the 14th century, standing tall through whatever was thrown their way. But as the Ottomans were
fighting against the Russians, their decline became significant, so significant that they joined the Central Powers, Austria–
Hungary and Germany. The Ottoman Turks were so desperate to blame their failures on something, they decided to blame it on
the Armenians living in northern Turkey. To this day, Armenians around the world still remember what happened to their
ancestors, never forgetting a single moment. The Ottoman Empire was established in the early 1300's. The Ottoman Turks were
in a constant state being in power, only having a few slip ups here and there. The Ottoman Empire was placed around the
Mediterranean Sea and was diverse throughout its empire. They were the best at trading and taking over other places around
them. The Ottoman Turks have been known to prosecute certain people that they didn't like, and they let that show during World
War I.
World War I was the most brutal at the time. People were getting killed left and right. The Ottoman Empire, on the other hand,
was in decline. They were trying to fight the Russians in the north and maintaining their empire. Things were getting so out of
control that the Young Turks looked for something to blame their decline on. They looked straight at the Armenian people. There
was approximately two million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire at the time. 1 Before the Armenian genocide, the world
didn't really know about genocides and what happens during them. The definition of a genocide is an organized way of killing
people, trying to get rid of an entire race, and that's exactly what the Ottoman Turks started to do to the Armenians.
Into the second year of World War I, in April is when the Ottoman Turks started their prosecution on the two million Armenians
living in northern Turkey. The Ottoman Turks started off with rounding up Armenian intellectuals and brought them to the main
square and hung them in front of everyone. As time went on, the Ottoman Turks rounded up more and more Armenians

fascinating architecture, music and dance, and textiles have all been greatly influenced by its ancient history and Christian
heritage.
Armenia's ancient history and adoption of Christianity are shown in the elegant styles of this country's architecture. Each
monument has different features, but they all have the same characteristic; they are made out of stone. Some buildings are carved
into a cave or mountain! You will likely find several architectural features in almost every monument. These features are stone
cupolas and Khachkars. Many Armenian churches have stone cupolas. Stone cupolas are domes that sit on top of great big domes.
Armenian architects use them as decoration or adornment. As you can probably imagine, these cupolas weigh a ton, which is why
there are arches to help support them. Another key architectural feature you will definitely spot in Armenia is Khachkars, stone
crosses. There are approximately 20,000 Khachkars in the country. These stone crosses

The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of History
ABSTRACT: A general problem of philosophical interests concerns the possibility of objective knowledge of other cultures and a
past culture, as well as the adequacy of their reconstruction. The problem of cultural development is also crucial. By the criterion
I develop, a culture which has expanded its potentialities in various independent forms is an open culture able to enter into
dialogue with any other culture. 1. To begin with, I must mention that at first I intended to present my paper at the Section of
Philosophy of History, because the point at issue here has a great concern to the concept of history and to the methodological
approaches of historians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The phenomenon of encounter of cultures has been known and described long ago, but in its definite meaning the theoretical
analysis of the phenomenon may be dated by the late 19th and early 20th cc., the period of shaping of contemporary anthropology
and philosophy of history. In this connection, in the field of the philosophy of history the work of Arnold Toynbee ought to be
mentioned who has put forward a conception and a model for systematic representation of the whole diversity of historical facts
concerning the encounter of societies, civilizations, cultures in space and time, (1) and, in the field of ethnology, the work of the
American cultural anthropologists, of Franz Boas' school, in which theory and practice of intercultural and cross–cultural research
have been initiated in different forms. (2)
3. In such a broad meaning of the term, the history of mankind presents itself as a variegated picturesque panorama of encounters
of cultures. The immediate reminiscences are the great migrations of tribes and peoples; the Graeco–Roman invasion of the East;
the incursion of barbarians into Europe; the invasion of Turkic nomads of the area of ancient civilizations; the Crusades; the

the Christian population. This paper will discuss what it will take for the Christian faith to accept the LGBT community in
America.
Religion has an impact on almost everything that happens in the world today. It is the root of many decisions made by people and
cultures worldwide. Billions of people worldwide choose to make certain decisions based off their own religious beliefs. Many

Descriptive Essay: A Trip To America
Here's the thing about about language: What isn't said can be as subtle as what is. While preparing to spend some weeks touring
the late unlamented Soviet Union, I once took a highly abbreviated course in Russian offered by the University of Arkansas at
Little Rock. Then I went off, armed with my pidgin Russian, to see what was then Leningrad (now St. Petersburg again), as well
as points as far east as Novosibirsk. Wherever I went, my attentive hosts –– and there are no hosts more attentive than the
minders assigned visitors in a police state –– tended to assume I was a comrade from Cuba, since my primitive Russian bore
telltale traces of a Cuban accent. Little did they know that our crash course in Russian had been taught by an exile from that
prison isle, who'd taken the first chance he'd gotten to make it over to the land of the free. And I certainly felt no need to go into
detail. At one point in our whirlwind tour, our closely watched group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the well–armed captain proudly made it down the aisle. He seemed as relieved as the passengers to get his legs back on
terra firma. The sound of a well–trained children's choir in Yerevan, Armenia, paraded out to show us the excellence of Soviet
education whether they wanted to or not. They were forbidden to speak their native Armenian –– down with bourgeois
nationalism! –– but were drilled in Russian. The hissing sound made by the obvious KGB man striding through a hotel and
shooing away any and all in his path while he muttered muzhiki! –– peasants! The contempt in his voice was as obvious as his

The Case Study Of Colon And Rectal Cancer
Colon and rectum cancer is ranked third for cancer incidence and fourth for cancer death globally in 2013. Further colon and
rectum cancer ranked second for incidence and mortality for developed countries and ranked fourth for both incidence and
mortality for developing countries. The Global burden of cancer study showed that colon and rectal cancer was the fourth leading
cause for cancer related years life lost between 1990 and 2013. The number of people diagnosed with colon and rectal cancer
doubled from 1990 to 2013, most of the increase being explained by an aging and growing population. But a 16% of this increase
was independent of the aging and growing population. The study showed colon and rectum cancer caused 15.8 million ... Show

Disadvantages of FIT is repeated testing in an opportunistic setting and requiring further diagnostic invasive test if positive.3.
The natural history of transition of polyp to cancer pathway is well known. Colorectal cancer can be prevented to a large extent
by removing polyps. Additionally, detection of colorectal cancer in early stage by screening also results in lower mortality rate.
Hence colorectal cancer screening is recommended for asymptomatic average risk individuals. In the study by M. Aronsson, one–
time colonoscopy yielded 49 more quality adjusted life years (QALYs) as compared to screening twice with FIT gave 26 more
QALYs. All screening strategies showed cost effectiveness as compared to no screening though colonoscopy was more cost
effective than FIT.6
Although, more CRCs occur in high income countries, CRC incidence has been rising rapidly in many less developed countries
including Brazil, Philippines and Bulgaria.7 However, currently few countries are having a CRC screening program in place.8
Even in countries with screening program uptake rates are suboptimal and screening programs are unutilized.9 The effect of it is
the unsettling truth that a large proportion of the CRC related 700,000 deaths should not occur. On the other side, a model

Essay On A Bad Day
"Instead of having a bad day, be thankful because you have the day" – during our lifetime each of us has probably seen this
phrase or at least some variations of it, whether shared by friend on Facebook or while reading one of those inspirational articles.
However, this overused phrase turned out to be true and recently I found out why. My very bad, awful and horrible day began
really early. I got up at seven to get ready for the exam I was having in two hours. After hitting the snooze button on my alarm
clock for the third time, it took me quite long to force myself to wake up and get ready after a sleepless night of studying. What
made it even worse was the fact that I had a high temperature and a severe migraine. Finally I made myself ... Show more content

It was one of those days when nothing seemed to go right. Throughout the day I kept complaining and whining how this was the
worst day of my life. What did I learn, one may wonder? That scorpions are as frightening in real life as I have imagined? Maybe.
That a house after robbery looks exactly as they show in the movies? Perhaps even worse. That no matter how hard you have
studied, if there is one topic you have skipped, it will definitely appear on the exam? Warmer, but still no. I learned that when
something bad happens to you, getting mad and angry is not the best reaction. Thinking back, there are things far more serious
than a bad exam grade, and I was lucky enough to get off with nothing more than a fright after interacting with a scorpion, and no
one else got hurt .Sometimes the obstacles life throws at us are not the worst and there are people who are dreaming of having
such "problems". All of us have hard times, but instead of focusing on negative, we should point out the good in them. After all,
bad days are there to help us get stronger and appreciate what we have. I indeed had a bad day, but I have been gifted with
another day and it is all that

The Armenian's process survival and rebuilding from such atrocities can be found in their memoirs, monuments, and museums. The role of these three aspects is important for giving those who have been affected a voice, for other cultures to pay tribute to them, and to educate people about the truth of what occurred. These three aspects, combined, also help fight against the idea of denial and a great example of how reliant a community of people can be. The Armenian National institute website displays a total of two hundred memorials in thirty–two countries' memorials for the Armenian Genocide–countries such as Argentina, Canada, India, and many others. The role of these memorials, in other countries, is the symbolic remembrance of what occurred and continued acknowledgment of the Armenian community. For instance, in Calcutta, India, they have a monumental sculpture paying tribute to the Armenian genocide, in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary. The inscription on the sculpture says, "our glorious Martyrs in grateful tribute to over one million martyrs of the Armenian Nation who lost under most tragic conditions during the Great World War 1914–1918" (www.armenian–genocide.org). All of the memorials around the world have different visual cues and representations of how they pay homage. Results revealed existence of anxiety and fear of contagion accompanied by lack of knowledge on HIV transmission and methods of prevention (Mbanya et al., 2001; Walusimbi and Okonsky, 2004; Oyeyemi et al., 2006). Nurses attitudes towards patients with HIV/AIDS have been shown to indicate negative and discriminatory behaviors (Mbanya et al., 2001; Oyeyemi et al., 2006; Reis et al., 2005), while fewer studies have pointed to more empathic attitudes (Walusimbi and Okonsky, 2004). In the United States, through our esteemed representative democracy, we stifle this concern by giving the citizen a choice between two right–wing, capitalist parties. As a nation our propaganda attacks one–party states, but is this only to accentuate the difference between us and them? Is it truly better to be given the choice between two parties over just one to a citizen whose policies do not fall anywhere between, or is it an example of a failure of our education system to curtail the free thought of an individual to the extent where their political ideals cannot be labeled as "liberal" or "conservative?" When the consumer has few to no options, there is little incentive to invest in the improvement of services. • 12. Essay On Conformity In Brave New World When growing up, parents often tell their kids to be themselves. In today's society, adults are individualistic, but many of them cross the line. Being an individual can make a person stand out, but in the process people do not agree on problems that matter. In Brave New World, individuality is not an option to live in their society. This world enticed with other people's opinions conforms their society. Conformity transformed individuality in Brave New World making it non–existent, but America's rise in individuality is setting the country up for failure. Conformity is one of the extremes that occur in the Brave New World society. Huxley explained that people who are conformed make a more stable community. The book starts out with, "A squat grey building...CENTRAL LONDON HATCHERY AND CONDITIONING CENTRE, and, in a shield, the World's state motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY" (Huxley 3). The motto is very interesting because identity has been pushed to the side in this community. Identity in this community only exists within the stability of the community. Also, they have an entire building dedicated to conditioning. By changing how they are brought up, the community can only have one ideology because they are all conformed to believe the same thing. For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated; however in this essay, I'll focus solely on the period from 1850–1915, which is just before the occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empire which controlled Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led to this disheartening division of the Armenians' fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian's writings. There were certain times a day where families got electricity and water. People that didn't live in the city lives in ore rural areas that were referred to villages since they were underdeveloped. People in the city lived in apartments. It was very common for people to live with entire families in a small home or apartment. My parents lived in my dad's family home in the city with his entire family of twelve people. My parents struggled a lot to be able to keep my brother and I comfortable through the freezing winters and scorching summers. Life in Armenia became too hard for them. • 19. The Ottoman Empire : The Decline Of The Ottoman Empire One year into World War I, 1915, and the Ottoman Empire is in a downward spiral. The Ottoman Empire had been a very powerful empire ever since the 14th century, standing tall through whatever was thrown their way. But as the Ottomans were fighting against the Russians, their decline became significant, so significant that they joined the Central Powers, Austria– Hungary and Germany. The Ottoman Turks were so desperate to blame their failures on something, they decided to blame it on the Armenians living in northern Turkey. To this day, Armenians around the world still remember what happened to their ancestors, never forgetting a single moment. The Ottoman Empire was established in the early 1300's. The Ottoman Turks were in a constant state being in power, only having a few slip ups here and there. The Ottoman Empire was placed around the Mediterranean Sea and was diverse throughout its empire. They were the best at trading and taking over other places around them. The Ottoman Turks have been known to prosecute certain people that they didn't like, and they let that show during World War I. World War I was the most brutal at the time. People were getting killed left and right. The Ottoman Empire, on the other hand, was in decline. They were trying to fight the Russians in the north and maintaining their empire. Things were getting so out of control that the Young Turks looked for something to blame their decline on. They looked straight at the Armenian people. There was approximately two million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire at the time. 1 Before the Armenian genocide, the world didn't really know about genocides and what happens during them. The definition of a genocide is an organized way of killing people, trying to get rid of an entire race, and that's exactly what the Ottoman Turks started to do to the Armenians. Into the second year of World War I, in April is when the Ottoman Turks started their prosecution on the two million Armenians living in northern Turkey. The Ottoman Turks started off with rounding up Armenian intellectuals and brought them to the main square and hung them in front of everyone. As time went on, the Ottoman Turks rounded up more and more Armenians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Armenia's population is around ten million people. The Armenian Genocide, the tragic earthquake, and several wars with other nations have affected what this country stands for today. Armenia's fascinating architecture, music and dance, and textiles have all been greatly influenced by its ancient history and Christian heritage. Armenia's ancient history and adoption of Christianity are shown in the elegant styles of this country's architecture. Each monument has different features, but they all have the same characteristic; they are made out of stone. Some buildings are carved into a cave or mountain! You will likely find several architectural features in almost every monument. These features are stone cupolas and Khachkars. Many Armenian churches have stone cupolas. Stone cupolas are domes that sit on top of great big domes. Armenian architects use them as decoration or adornment. As you can probably imagine, these cupolas weigh a ton, which is why there are arches to help support them. Another key architectural feature you will definitely spot in Armenia is Khachkars, stone crosses. There are approximately 20,000 Khachkars in the country. These stone crosses ... The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of History ABSTRACT: A general problem of philosophical interests concerns the possibility of objective knowledge of other cultures and a past culture, as well as the adequacy of their reconstruction. The problem of cultural development is also crucial. By the criterion I develop, a culture which has expanded its potentialities in various independent forms is an open culture able to enter into dialogue with any other culture. 1. To begin with, I must mention that at first I intended to present my paper at the Section of Philosophy of History, because the point at issue here has a great concern to the concept of history and to the methodological approaches of historians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phenomenon of encounter of cultures has been known and described long ago, but in its definite meaning the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon may be dated by the late 19th and early 20th cc., the period of shaping of contemporary anthropology and philosophy of history. In this connection, in the field of the philosophy of history the work of Arnold Toynbee ought to be mentioned who has put forward a conception and a model for systematic representation of the whole diversity of historical facts concerning the encounter of societies, civilizations, cultures in space and time, (1) and, in the field of ethnology, the work of the American cultural anthropologists, of Franz Boas' school, in which theory and practice of intercultural and cross–cultural research have been initiated in different forms. The immediate reminiscences are the great migrations of tribes and peoples; the Graeco–Roman invasion of the East; the incursion of barbarians into Europe; the invasion of Turkic nomads of the area of ancient civilizations; the Crusades; the discovery ... • 25. Descriptive Essay: A Trip To America Here's the thing about about language: What isn't said can be as subtle as what is. While preparing to spend some weeks touring the late unlamented Soviet Union, I once took a highly abbreviated course in Russian offered by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Then I went off, armed with my pidgin Russian, to see what was then Leningrad (now St. Petersburg again), as well as points as far east as Novosibirsk. Wherever I went, my attentive hosts –– and there are no hosts more attentive than the minders assigned visitors in a police state –– tended to assume I was a comrade from Cuba, since my primitive Russian bore telltale traces of a Cuban accent. Little did they know that our crash course in Russian had been taught by an exile from that prison isle, who'd taken the first chance he'd gotten to make it over to the land of the free. And I certainly felt no need to go into detail. At one point in our whirlwind tour, our closely watched group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Disadvantages of FIT is repeated testing in an opportunistic setting and requiring further diagnostic invasive test if positive.3. The natural history of transition of polyp to cancer pathway is well known. Colorectal cancer can be prevented to a large extent by removing polyps. Additionally, detection of colorectal cancer in early stage by screening also results in lower mortality rate. Hence colorectal cancer screening is recommended for asymptomatic average risk individuals. In the study by M. Aronsson, one– time colonoscopy yielded 49 more quality adjusted life years (QALYs) as compared to screening twice with FIT gave 26 more QALYs. All screening strategies showed cost effectiveness as compared to no screening though colonoscopy was more cost effective than FIT.6 Although, more CRCs occur in high income countries, CRC incidence has been rising rapidly in many less developed countries including Brazil, Philippines and Bulgaria.7 However, currently few countries are having a CRC screening program in place.8 Even in countries with screening program uptake rates are suboptimal and screening programs are unutilized.9 The effect of it is the unsettling truth that a large proportion of the CRC related 700,000 deaths should not occur. Essay On A Bad Day "Instead of having a bad day, be thankful because you have the day" – during our lifetime each of us has probably seen this phrase or at least some variations of it, whether shared by friend on Facebook or while reading one of those inspirational articles. However, this overused phrase turned out to be true and recently I found out why. My very bad, awful and horrible day began really early. I got up at seven to get ready for the exam I was having in two hours. After hitting the snooze button on my alarm clock for the third time, it took me quite long to force myself to wake up and get ready after a sleepless night of studying. What made it even worse was the fact that I had a high temperature and a severe migraine. Finally I made myself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was one of those days when nothing seemed to go right. Throughout the day I kept complaining and whining how this was the worst day of my life. What did I learn, one may wonder? That scorpions are as frightening in real life as I have imagined? Maybe. That a house after robbery looks exactly as they show in the movies? Perhaps even worse. That no matter how hard you have studied, if there is one topic you have skipped, it will definitely appear on the exam? Warmer, but still no. I learned that when something bad happens to you, getting mad and angry is not the best reaction. Thinking back, there are things far more serious than a bad exam grade, and I was lucky enough to get off with nothing more than a fright after interacting with a scorpion, and no one else got hurt .Sometimes the obstacles life throws at us are not the worst and there are people who are dreaming of having such "problems". All of us have hard times, but instead of focusing on negative, we should point out the good in them. After all, bad days are there to help us get stronger and appreciate what we have.
