요 모두 다 헛되어 바람을 잡으려는 것이기 때문이로다 (전도서 2:17)
• So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me.
All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes 2:17)

presumptuously expect to please Him only through and after our works, then it is all pure
deception , outwardly honoring God, but inwardly setting up self as a false god. - Luther

• 또 말하되 자, 성읍과 탑을 건설하여 그 탑 꼭대기를 하늘에 닿게 하여 우리 이름을 내고 온
지면에 흩어짐을 면하자 하였더니 (창세기 11:4)
• Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the
heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over

and there is a True Reality
beneath and behind this one,
and this life is not the only life,
then every good endeavor,
even the simplest ones,
pursued in response to God’s
calling, can matter forever.
