Outdoor play area lesson plans

1. Park has a Climbing Toy, Gazebo, Picnic Benches, and Grassy Area
My Lesson Plan:
Make bingo cards that have pictures of different things at the park
- Slide, climbing wall, stairs, tunnel, picnic bench, bridge
Have a letter of the alphabet posted at each place.
Draw a letter out of a bag and have the children find where the letter is, have them mark of
That thing on their bingo card. First child to get three in a row wins.
This lesson works on Letter recognition, following directions, and matching skills

2. Park has multiple slides, climbing wall, monkey bars, swings, open field, chain obstacle course, and paved
Bike course.
My Lesson Plan:
Make an obstacle course that the kids have to follow directions. Start at one end of the play ground and have them
Climb over, under, skip around, run fast, walk slowly. Then have them walk back and forth around the swings.
This lesson will work on coordination skills, listening skills and gross motor development.

3. This park has climbing toys with slides and swings. There are lots of trees and open grass areas. There is a gazebo with
Picnic benches.
My Lesson Plan:
Put targets on the trees with numbers on them. Give the kids water balloons and have them throw them at the targets in
Order 1-10. When they are all done have the kids pick up any balloon parts.
This lesson works on number recognition, and counting as well as gross motor skills.
