3. TUBBATAHA
REEF
The Tubbataha Reef is an atoll
coral reef and a Natural Marine Park
in Sulu Sea Philippines composing of
two huge atoll (the North Atoll and
South Atoll) and the smaller Jessie
Beazley Reef.
According to United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organizationthe reefs are 181
kilometers (112 mi) southeast of
Puerto Princesa City.
4. TUBBATAH
A REEF
The word tubbataha is a
combination of
two Samal words: tubba and taha
, which together means "a long
reef exposed at low tide".
Historically, Samal
people who have a nomadic
lifestlye, visit the reef from time
to time. Although people from
the islands of Cagayancillo are
frequent visitors of the reef.
They used the native
vessel pangko to sail and fish on
"Gusong", their local name for
the Tubbataha.
5. TUBBATAHA REEF
In December 1993, the UNESCO declared the Tubbataha Reefs National
Park as a World Heritage Site under the protective management of the
Philippines Department of National Defense (DND) and technical
supervision of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD)
and the Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR). In
1999, Ramsar listed Tubbataha as one of the Wetlands of International
Importance. In 2008, the reef was nominated at the New 7 Wonders of
Nature.
6. PUERTO PRINCESA
UNDERGROUND RIVER
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean
River National Park is located about
50 kilometers (30 mi) north of the
city centre of Puerto
Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. The
river is also called Puerto Princesa
Underground River. The national
park is located in the Saint Paul
Mountain Range on the northern
coast of the island. It is bordered by
St. Paul Bay to the north and the
Babuyan River to the east.

Puerto Princesa Underground River
was entered as the Philippine entry -
and topped the first round of voting
- in the New7Wonders of
Nature competition, and on July
28, 2011, after the second round of
voting, it was declared 1 of 28
finalists. On November 11, 2011 it
was provisionally chosen as one of
the "New7Wonders of Nature",
together with
the Amazonia, Halong Bay, Iguazu
Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo Island,
andTable Mountain.
9. SAN AGUSTIN CHURH
San Agustin Church is a Roman
Catholic church under the auspices
of The Order of St.
Augustine, located inside the
historic walled city
of Intramuros in Manila.
In 1993, San Agustin Church was
one of four Philippine churches
constructed during the Spanish
colonial period to be designated as
a World Heritage
Site by UNESCO, under the
collective title Baroque Churches of
the Philippines. It was named a
National Historical Landmark by the
Philippine government in 1976.
11. Banaue Rice Terraces
The Banaue Rice Terraces (Tagalog: Hagdan-
hagdang Palayan ng Banawe) also called musuan
peak, are 2000-year old terraces that were
carved into the mountains of Ifugao in
the Philippines by ancestors of the indigenous
people.
The Rice Terraces are commonly referred to by
Filipinos as the "Eighth Wonder of the
World”. It is commonly thought that the
terraces were built with minimal equipment,
largely by hand. The terraces are located
approximately 1500 meters (5000 ft) above sea
level and cover 10,360 square kilometers (about
4000 square miles) of mountainside. They are
fed by an ancient irrigation system from the
rainforests above the terraces. It is said that if
the steps are put end to end it would encircle
half the globe.
12. Banaue Rice Terraces
The Banaue Rice Terraces refer to the cluster close to the Banaue poblacion as
seen from the viewpoint. Contrary to popular belief perpetrated by its inclusion
on the twenty peso banknote, the Banaue Rice Terraces are not a UNESCO
World Heritage Site. They were not included in the UNESCO inscription Rice
Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras due to the presence of numerous modern
structures, making it score low in the integrity criterion of UNESCO.
The five clusters inscribed as part of the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras
are Batad, Bangaan, Hungduan, Mayoyao Central and Nagacadan Batad and
Bangaan are under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Banaue but are not
referred to as the Banaue Rice Terraces.
The Banaue Rice Terraces are however a National Cultural Treasure under Ifugao
Rice Terraces.
14. City of Vigan
The City of Vigan is a 5th class city in
the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines. It is the
capital of the Province of Ilocos Sur. The city is
located on the western coast of the large
island of Luzon, facing the South China Sea.
It is a World Heritage Site in that it is one of
the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines,
and is well known for its cobblestone streets,
and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine
and Oriental building designs and
construction, with colonial European
architecture.
According to the latest Philippines census, it
has a population of 47,246 people in 9,193
households.
Former Philippine president Elpidio Quirino,
the sixth president of the Philippines, was born
in Vigan, at the current location of the
Provincial Jail (his father was a warden); and
resided in the Syquia Mansion.
