students understanding
 The corner stone of any effective teaching
technique is questioning. It is a critical skill
that can be used in teaching any subject and
any grade.
 In a correct question there is a correct
answer.
 Thus questioning promotes involvement,
enhances learning and motivates the students
.
 Helps the studens to display/ test their
knowledge.
 Elicit desired information from the students
 Develops subject matter in the class
 Enable the student to analyse the problem
related to the topic being taught.
 Enable the student to appaly their knowledge
to aspecific new situation.
 Help the students evaluate for themselves
their understanding of the concepts.
 Motivates students to participate in the
teaching-learning process.

how questioning skill can be used effectively by a teacher

  • 1. Discuss how questioning skill can be used effectively by a teacher in a classroom. Illustrate your answer with suitable example.
  • 2.  All your students are above average?  Average ?  Below average?
  • 3.  Is it useful to student or is it useful to the teacher.  Questioning stimulates thinking.
  • 4.  It is the logical procedure of problem solving.  It is useful for presenting the tentative nature of knowledge  It is used in solving problems.  The teacher encourages the learner to seek more than one answer for a question
  • 5.  The teacher uses questioning to achieve learning objectives  The teacher uses questioning to assess students understanding  The corner stone of any effective teaching technique is questioning. It is a critical skill that can be used in teaching any subject and any grade.
  • 6.  In a correct question there is a correct answer.  Thus questioning promotes involvement, enhances learning and motivates the students .
  • 7.  Helps the studens to display/ test their knowledge.  Elicit desired information from the students  Develops subject matter in the class  Enable the student to analyse the problem related to the topic being taught.  Enable the student to appaly their knowledge to aspecific new situation.
  • 8.  Help the students evaluate for themselves their understanding of the concepts.  Motivates students to participate in the teaching-learning process.
  • 9.  What is thinking.
  • 10.  Questioning stimulates thinking. The level of students thinking depends upon the level of questions asked by the teacher.  Frame the questions in different levels. Response also will be in different level.
