TIPUS DE RECURSOS DIDÀCTICS 
 Materials de suport visual: 
vídeos, fotografies reals o retallades de revistes, de propaganda o 
altres fonts, làmines temàtiques, targetes tipus flashcards, articles 
de premsa, còmics, mapes, plànols, diccionaris il·lustrats, pòsters. 
 Materials de suport auditiu: 
enregistraments, clips musicals, documentals, notícies de 
televisió, anuncis de ràdio, vídeos, podcasts, gravacions d’àudio i 
vídeo dels propis alumnes,etc. 
 Materials de suport tecnològic: 
recursos TIC a la xarxa, eines d’ús educatiu en diversos formats 
(PDI, wikis, xats, blogs, plataformes educatives com Moodle, eines 
2.0 per a la creació com glogster, audacity, etc.). 
 Materials en suport paper: 
llibres de lectura graduada segons el nivell de dificultat, diaris i 
revistes, fulletons, diccionaris, etc.

Mary: I've been collecting them since I entered secondary school. 
John: How many butterflies have you collected? 
Mary: I've collected about four hundred foreign ones. 
John: Are there any rare ones among them? 
Mary: Yes, there are some. I got them in Thailand. 
John: My hobby is playing football. 
Mary: How long have you been playing it? 
John: I've been playing it since last year. I can play it pretty well now. 
Mary: Another hobby of mine is cooking. 
John: Will you cook me a meal? 
Mary: Yes, of course!
Is this better? 
What kind of food does this woman like? 
I absolutely adore fish, particularly white fish, such as sole or haddock, 
cooked in a little white wine, with some garlic and lemon. Recently, I’ve 
been experimenting with Japanese recipes, particularly raw fish. Oh, and 
I love vegetables such as courgettes, broccoli and asparagus and fresh 
green beans. But I hate them overcooked. Oh, and I’m terribly fond of 
pasta, but it must be freshly made!

So why use authentic materials? 
 A natural model – encourages them to be better readers/ listeners. 
 This is the final aim – what they will have to do eventually 
 Ss who read and listen extensively acquire language faster/ better 
 motivating if successful 
 topic can be topical/ interesting 
 Promotes deeper cultural knowledge 
 Closer to actual learner’s needs and interests 
 current

 Which materials would you use for the following tasks / activities? 
1. A poster on your favourite popstar, artist, sports, celebrity, etc. 
2. A guide to local restaurants, shops, museums, bars,etc. 
3. A class newspaper, newsletter or news programme. 
4. A magazine for the local area including reviews, opinions, letters, features, etc. 
5. Something to help the community - building a sense of citizenship 
6. A podcast relating to the topic of the unit they are studying. 
7. A show made up of songs & skits in English. 
8. Healthy eating / lifestyle, including tasks like keeping a food diary, making a food 
pyramid graphic, etc. 
9. A yearbook which could be printed and given as a present at the end of the course. 
10. A 'memory book‘. 
11. A comic. 
12. A science fair, for example with animal categories - insects, birds, fish, mammals,

TIPUS DE RECURSOS DIDÀCTICS  Materials de suport visual: vídeos, fotografies reals o retallades de revistes, de propaganda o altres fonts, làmines temàtiques, targetes tipus flashcards, articles de premsa, còmics, mapes, plànols, diccionaris il·lustrats, pòsters.  Materials de suport auditiu: enregistraments, clips musicals, documentals, notícies de televisió, anuncis de ràdio, vídeos, podcasts, gravacions d’àudio i vídeo dels propis alumnes,etc.  Materials de suport tecnològic: recursos TIC a la xarxa, eines d’ús educatiu en diversos formats (PDI, wikis, xats, blogs, plataformes educatives com Moodle, eines 2.0 per a la creació com glogster, audacity, etc.).  Materials en suport paper: llibres de lectura graduada segons el nivell de dificultat, diaris i revistes, fulletons, diccionaris, etc.

Mary: I've collected about four hundred foreign ones. John: Are there any rare ones among them? Mary: Yes, there are some. I got them in Thailand. John: My hobby is playing football. Mary: How long have you been playing it? John: I've been playing it since last year. I can play it pretty well now. Mary: Another hobby of mine is cooking. John: Will you cook me a meal? Mary: Yes, of course!
  • 11. Is this better? What kind of food does this woman like? I absolutely adore fish, particularly white fish, such as sole or haddock, cooked in a little white wine, with some garlic and lemon. Recently, I’ve been experimenting with Japanese recipes, particularly raw fish. Oh, and I love vegetables such as courgettes, broccoli and asparagus and fresh green beans. But I hate them overcooked. Oh, and I’m terribly fond of pasta, but it must be freshly made!

So why use authentic materials?  A natural model – encourages them to be better readers/ listeners.  This is the final aim – what they will have to do eventually  Ss who read and listen extensively acquire language faster/ better  motivating if successful  topic can be topical/ interesting  Promotes deeper cultural knowledge  Closer to actual learner’s needs and interests  current Presentation about using Authentic materials
