This is the presentation of Judah Blumenthal featuring tips on how to improve your communication skills. This presentation is all about using the correct language, body language, and asking the right questions.
2. Why Developing Communication
Skills is Important:
✤ One flaw of our society is that we usually don’t spend an
adequate amount of time learning how to communicate
better.!
✤ Communication plays an important role in all aspects of
our lives – from having social conversations with friends
and relatives to portraying your ideas clearly at work. !
✤ We could all use help when it comes to our
communication skills, so here is some advice on how to
improve them…

Tip #1:
Get Rid of “Conversation
Fillers”
✤ The first piece of advice when it
comes to communicating
effectively is to get rid of
unnecessary words, or
“conversation fillers,” like “um”
and “ah.” !
✤ These words, or utterances rather,
do nothing to improve your
quality of speech. !
✤ To be more persuasive and sound
confident, cut these words out
completely.
4. Getting Rid of “Conversation
Fillers” Continued…
✤ A good way to start eliminating these words from your vocabulary is
to track how many times per day you use them. !
✤ Of course, this may be extremely distracting and unrealistic at times,
but having an idea of how often you use them is a great way to force
yourself into not saying them in the first place. !
✤ These conversation fillers are often a result of feeling anxious before
or when you say something, so try taking a deep breath and
collecting your thoughts before you speak.

Tip #2:
Tell a Story
✤ Stories are more powerful than you
may think because they force the
person at the other end of the
conversation to actively use their
brains and listen. !
✤ Besides that, they’re fun – people will
want to hear a story rather than a
boring speech during a presentation. !
✤ So next time you have a presentation
for work, or are just trying to rev-up a
conversation with an employee or
friend, tell a story: we’ve all got one in
us.

Tip #3:
Get Rid of Distractions
✤ There is nothing more annoying than
having a conversation with someone
who refuses to stop staring at the
screen of their phone. !
✤ Focus is key when it comes to
communication. !
✤ Make eye contact and use body
language to let the other person know
that you are genuinely interested in
what they have to say – they’ll
appreciate it much more than you
having a conversation with another
person through texting.

Tip #4:
Ask Questions
✤ Questions are good indicators that
show engagement in conversation,
plus they keep your brain sharp and
help clarify misunderstood points. !
✤ Repeating the other person’s last
couple of words is another good
trick to stay on track with the
conversation you’re having. !
✤ If there is ever a moment of
awkward silence, questions and
repeating phrases are a great way to
fill these gaps.
