Please use the Class Observation Guide provided for you.
Class Observation Guide
Read the following statements carefully before you observe.
1. What is the lesson about? What are the teacher’s objectives?
The lesson is all about Sequence. The teacher’s objectives are the
following:
a. Generate and describe pattern;
b. Illustrate a sequence; and
c. Solve problems involving sequence
2. Note the important concepts that the teacher is emphasizing.
The teacher is emphasizing on patterns and number orders. She is also
showing the concept of common difference, a number added to obtain the next.
3. Note the skills that the teacher is developing in the learners.
The skills that the teacher is developing in the learners are accuracy,
cleverness, creative thinking and inquisitiveness. All these skills are essential to
the topic.
My Analysis
Using the information you got from observing the class, surf the internet for
electronic resources that will be useful in teaching the same lesson. Choose the most
appropriate ones. Recall the guidelines you learned in Educational Technology about
evaluating electronic resources. These guidelines will help you fill out the matrix below.
Grade/Year level
of the class
Grade 9
Topic (of the class you observed) Sequence
Objectives of the lesson:
1. Illustrate sequence.
2. Generate and describe pattern.
3. Solve problems involving sequence.
Name of Electronic Resource
Description of the
Electronic
Resource
How it can be used
in the class you
observed
Website:
lrmds.deped.gov.ph
This website
contains all resource
materials used by
DepEd in the K-12
curriculum. It is also
called DepEd Portal.
Various activities in a
form of MS Word or
PDF that can be
downloaded from
this site will help
teachers organize
their own lesson.
Website:
https://www.mathisfun.com
Offers an enjoyable
and easy-to-learn
manner because they
believe Math is fun.
They cover from
Kindergarten to year
12 curriculum.
All information from
this site will be good
resource for teaching
Math because it
provides complete
yet easy-to-
understand topics.
CD ROM
Mathematics Higher Level (CD-
ROM)
Mathematics Higher
Level is a book
published by
Cambridge
University Press. It
was accompanied by
a CD-ROM which
contains topic for
number sequence.
Through a CD-ROM
Drive, a classroom
can view contents of
this CD-ROM.
CD ROM
Advance Algebra Tutor
The disk 2 of
Advance Algebra
Tutor have topics for
number sequence.
This CD-ROM is
found at E Math
Tutor DVD.com
The teacher may use
CD-ROM player or
drive during class in
order to view this
lesson.
Games (on-line)
Line Dry
(www.fuelthebrain.com)
Line Dry is an online
game fir sequence.
Clothes with
numbers are hanged
and players must fill
blank clothes for
their answer.
This can be use in
class that have an
active internet
connection.
Games:
Encarta
Part of Microsoft’s
Encarta are games
for different subjects.
Math is one of them.
Encarta can be use
online or offline so it
is easy to use in the
classroom.
Webquest:
National Portrait Gallery
(npg.org.uk)
This webquest
covers the following
topics: number
sequence,
multiplication and
problem solving.
If this will be used in
the classroom, it is
advisable that
internet is present
since this is an online
webquest.
Webquest:
Sequences and Patterns
Webquest
A simple webquest
in a form of MS-
Word. It contains
links of different
topics.
Also, internet is
needed if this will be
used in a classroom.

My Reflections
1. Describe your experience in surfing the internet for appropriate electronic resources
for the class? Did you find it easy or difficult?
In surfing the internet for appropriate electronic resources for the class, I
need to read first the outline of the resources that comes out from google. I need to
evaluate it first whether it is useful to my topic or not. Yes, it is quite difficult but
with the aid of various machineries, it becomes relatively easy.
2. How did you choose which electronic resources to include here? What did you
consider? Explain.
There are many ways to consider in choosing an electronic resource. First
is credibility. It means choosing those resource that are already proven and tested.
Next is appropriateness. If you will search on google, there are many other things
that are irrelevant so you need not to include them. Availability is the next. Choose
resources that are attainable to your budget and to the institution’s funds.
3. Reflect on your technology skills. What skills do you already have and what skills
would you continue to work on to be better at utilizing electronic resources?
If I were to evaluate myself, I can say that I already have good skills in
manipulating computers, surfing the internet and in preparing various electronic
resources.
On the other hand, I need to continue practicing on making various
electronic visual aids like slides, etc.
My Portfolio
Visit www.teachnology.com or other teacher resource websites. Print useful
instructional materials (worksheets, visual aids, flash cards, rubrics, etc.) and include them
here. Indicate how they might be useful considering your major or area of specialization.
Rubric for the Equations Formulated and Solved
Score Descriptors
4 Equations are properly formulated and solved correctly.
3 Equations are properly formulated but not all are solved correctly.
2 Equations are properly formulated but are not solved correctly.
1 Equations are properly formulated but are not solved at all.
Rubric for the Problems Formulated and Solved
Score Descriptors
6 Poses a more complex problem with two or more solutions and communicates
ideas unmistakably, shows in-depth comprehension of the pertinent concepts
and/or processes and provides explanation wherever appropriate
5 Poses a more complex problem and finishes all significant parts of the
solution and communicates ideas unmistakably, shows in-depth
comprehension of the pertinent concepts and/or processes
4 Poses a complex problem and finishes all significant parts of the solution and
communicates ideas unmistakably, shows in-depth comprehension of the
pertinent concepts and/or processes
3 Poses a complex problem and finishes most significant parts of the solution
and communicates ideas unmistakably, shows comprehension of major
concepts although neglects or misinterprets less significant ideas or details
2 Poses a problem and finishes some significant parts of the solution and
communicates ideas unmistakably but shows gaps on the theoretical
comprehension
1 Poses a problem but demonstrates minor comprehension, not being able to
develop an approach
Source: D.O. #73, s. 2012, lrmds.gov.ph
There are many important instructional materials present in the DepEd Portal. I
just choose this rubric out of those materials present in there.
It is essential for Mathematics students to know how to construct equations. This
help them solve word-problems. Thus, this rubric will be greatly help them. This will serve
as guide to teachers and students alike.

  • 5. My Reflections 1. Describe your experience in surfing the internet for appropriate electronic resources for the class? Did you find it easy or difficult? In surfing the internet for appropriate electronic resources for the class, I need to read first the outline of the resources that comes out from google. I need to evaluate it first whether it is useful to my topic or not. Yes, it is quite difficult but with the aid of various machineries, it becomes relatively easy. 2. How did you choose which electronic resources to include here? What did you consider? Explain. There are many ways to consider in choosing an electronic resource. First is credibility. It means choosing those resource that are already proven and tested. Next is appropriateness. If you will search on google, there are many other things that are irrelevant so you need not to include them. Availability is the next. Choose resources that are attainable to your budget and to the institution’s funds. 3. Reflect on your technology skills. What skills do you already have and what skills would you continue to work on to be better at utilizing electronic resources? If I were to evaluate myself, I can say that I already have good skills in manipulating computers, surfing the internet and in preparing various electronic resources. On the other hand, I need to continue practicing on making various electronic visual aids like slides, etc.

I just choose this rubric out of those materials present in there. It is essential for Mathematics students to know how to construct equations. This help them solve word-problems. Thus, this rubric will be greatly help them. This will serve as guide to teachers and students alike.
