Double object pronouns

  • 2. •  To  understand  how  to  use  double  object   pronouns,  you  MUST  understand  the   difference  between  Direct  Object  Pronouns   (DOPs)  and  Indirect  Object  Pronouns  (IOPs)

Direct  Object  Pronouns   •  A  direct  object  receives  the  acBon  occurring  in  a   sentence   •  The  direct  object  can  be  idenBfied  by  asking   “who?”  or  “what?”   •  Mike  hit  the  ball.     –  Mike  hit  what?  =  the  ball   •  The  students  understand  the  teacher.     –  The  students  understand  who?  =  the  teacher
