INTRODUCTION <ul><li>Story about Champaner, small village situated at the heart of India, in 1893 </li></ul><ul><li>Villagers of Champaner were dependant on agriculture </li></ul><ul><li>Near to this village, there was British Cantonment run by Captain Russell, near to this cantonment, there was province of the King Rajah Puran Singh </li></ul><ul><li>British promised Rajahs to protect them from other Rajahs and they were collecting LAGAAN (i.e. Tax) from kings. </li></ul><ul><li>Villagers of Champaner were paying tax in form of grains to Rajah Puran Singh </li></ul><ul><li>Rajah Puran Singh was keeping his share and rest of the Lagaan was handed over to Captain Russell </li></ul>

REALISATION OF INJUSTICE <ul><li>British Army troop is marching through the village </li></ul><ul><li>Everybody is angry about them, but can’t do anything other than cursing them </li></ul><ul><li>Since 2 yrs No Rain, No Grain </li></ul><ul><li>Rajah Puran Singh doubled Lagaan due to Cpt. Russell’s demand </li></ul><ul><li>There is only one person who tried do something i.e. BHUVAN </li></ul>
  5. 5. CLEVER, WISE & SHARP <ul><li>Cpt. Russell announced about cancellation of Lagaan (tax) </li></ul><ul><li>Everybody gets happy, except BHUVAN </li></ul><ul><li>No one will give favor to you without his / her interest </li></ul>

VISION, POSITIVE ATTITUDE & RISK TAKING CAPACITY <ul><li>Leader should have Vision – Fight Against British And Get Rid Of Doubled Taxes </li></ul><ul><li>Positive Attitude of winning the cricket match against British </li></ul><ul><li>Leader must accept challenges, Capable of taking risks and work on those </li></ul>

MAKING OF TEAM CONTD… <ul><li>Bagha, Gurav, Isar Kaka, Goli & Bhura were already in the team; Arjan & Ismail joined </li></ul><ul><li>Lakha was hating Bhuvan; Joined Bhuvan’s team, but played for British (Match Fixing) </li></ul><ul><li>All rounder, experienced player, Deva Singh Sodhi joined </li></ul><ul><li>Tipu was extra; Elizabeth was coach </li></ul>
  14. 14. SKILLS IDENTIFICATION <ul><li>Capacity of identifying required skills in subordinates; Gives opportunity </li></ul><ul><li>Job evaluation on the basis of skills & knowledge </li></ul><ul><li>Not influenced by any other factors like traditions; Opposes superstitions </li></ul>

ASSERTIVENESS <ul><li>Elizabeth informed to Bhuvan about treachery of Lakha </li></ul><ul><li>Villagers became angry at Lakha </li></ul><ul><li>Bhuvan controlled his anger; Didn’t become aggressive like others </li></ul><ul><li>Analyzed reason of Lakha’s behavior </li></ul><ul><li>Lakha realized his mistake </li></ul>
  18. 18. ASSERTIVENESS CONTD… <ul><li>Lakha asked for one chance; </li></ul><ul><li>Bhuvan didn’t take extreme position </li></ul><ul><li>Gave one chance to prove loyalty </li></ul><ul><li>Lakha proved his loyalty </li></ul>

  20. 20. RESPONSIBILITY <ul><li>Bhuvan could not judge stamina of Isar Kaka; Isar Kaka got run out </li></ul><ul><li>Isar Kaka felt guilty </li></ul><ul><li>Bhuvan accepts his fault; Takes responsibility of failure of the team / team members </li></ul>
  21. 21. SELF CONFIDANCE <ul><li>Ismail came on the field though he was injured </li></ul><ul><li>Team members should have self confidence and should be responsible </li></ul>
  22. 22. INFLUENCE OF LEADER <ul><li>Tipu (i.e. Ismail) got run out </li></ul><ul><li>Such age, Tipu’s friends couldn’t understand about cricket; Tipu started crying </li></ul><ul><li>Each member at every level of the organization realizes importance of organizational goal </li></ul>
