What Are We Going To Do?
We are going to start build some free traffic streams to our website. The way I see
a website is an island in the sea. The sea is the internet. Now what we want is to
build stable and solid roads to the island so that people can reach the island
easily. Ok, I might start to sound a bit silly now but I see Google as an highway. If
you end up on the first page of Google then you have built your solid highway to
your island. To build multiple small bridges to the island, our website, we want to
make use of different kinds of methods. The STEP-BY-STEP method is there to give
you some sort of structure. This is how I usually do it but it does not mean you
can’t switch up the order of the steps. However I advise you to follow this
structure for now.
Ok, random, I know. Let’s get to work ;)

Step 1 – Keyword Research & Articles
This can be such a pain in the ass. At least I think so, but it is oh so important! I
hope you have done or will do some keyword research in order to build your
website around that. I’m pretty much sure you have about 3 keyword phrases you
want your website to rank for. If not, find at least 3 (included your main keyword
phrase). Write them down:
Keyword Phrase 1: .....
Keyword Phrase 2: .....
Keyword Phrase 3: .....
Ok now there are a few very good article directories you definitely want your
articles to be submitted to. Good article directories have a good page rank and
once you submitted your articles, they are able to rank quite high in Google. You
want to submit your articles to the following directories:
EzineArticles.com
GoArticles.com
ArticleBase.com
TheFreeLibrary.com
ArticleCity.com
Now there are a lot of different techniques when it comes to article writing. I
would say one article for each keyword to each directory to start it off. So that
would be 3 quality articles for each article directory. The more the better though.
You could actually outsource article marketing and have this done for you, but if
you like writing then go for it :) The key is consistency here.
A tip: make an RSS feed from the article URL as well as your website and submit it
to feedage.com. This will help your back linking system and will help others to be
able to find your website in the search engines better. :)

Step 2 – Optimising Your Blog/Website
During this step you will have to optimise your blog/website. How do you do this?
In general you will have to have the following on your blog:
 Your main keyword in your title
 Your keyword throughout the posts for about 3-4 times
 An anchor text with the main keyword linking internally to another page of
your website or the home page of your website
 An image with keyword anchored title
Suggestion: Not many people may know about this very useful WordPress plugin
called SEOPressor. (It is a paid product though). What it will do is actually make
you add certain SEO techniques on to your site. It will show you ticks once you
have completed certain steps and it will actually give you a certain percentage of
how well your page does for SEO. It’s a very useful tool which helps you to get
your pages as search engine optimised as possible.
Anyhow, we were looking for FREE traffic so the steps I gave you above should do
well enough for your site to become pretty search engine optimised.
Something else you might want to do is go over your webpage and look at it as if
you were a visitor. What do you like about it and what not? Is it an easy read?
When people visit websites they scan through the information. Does your website
get the most important messages across without having read it all? You might
also want to add some space at some places or you might want to break the text
up for an image. People like to see images so obviously you could score points
there too. Make it look good and professional and you will tick the “conversions”
part as well ;)

Step 3 – Add URLs / Social Bookmarking
Now you actually want to be findable for the search engines as well as for people
going through bookmarking websites.
First add your website URL to the main search engines which is our beloved friend
Google and also Yahoo. To add a website to Google you can easily just create an
account and add it through the “Webmasters tools”.
To add your website URL to yahoo you will have to make use of the Bing
Webmaster tool. Simply create an account for that and you’ll have submitted
your website to the most important search engines.
Another tool you could make use of is www.submitdomainname.com. It is free; all
they ask for is putting a link on your website to theirs. Now you don’t have to put
that link on the first page of your website. It could actually be a great way to get
your website submitted to about 140 search engines.
Furthermore social bookmarking needs to be done. This could be a painful boring
progress but I have seen good results coming from this process. Now, I want to
stress that you shouldn’t use these tools to spam. Social bookmarking is a very
effective source for free traffic, and is one of the ‘can’t do without’ toolbox of
every serious blogger. To start generating free traffic from the social bookmarking
sites, you will have to sign up with the sites Digg, Stumbleupon and Delicious.
These are the biggest and most well known social bookmarking sites.
A tool to ease the pain of this process a little bit is socialmarker.com. With this
tool you can actually submit bookmarks to a lot of bookmarking websites with
only one click. (Prior to that you will have to manually sign up with all of the social
bookmarking sites though.)

Step 4 – Get HIGH PR Back Links
High PR back links are crucial to make your website being able to compete with
website on the front page that have a higher PR rank than you have. In general
these links will boost your position in Google really well. So you will always want
to have those kinds of back links.
One of the high PR rank websites is eHow. Simply register with eHow and include
your URL with your main keywords in anchor text in the “About Me” box.
You could do the same thing with blogger.com. This is a blog platform by Google.
Create an account, edit your profile and add your website URL with your main
keyword anchor text to the “About Me” section.
The next website where you want to get a back link from is StatCounter. You
might know it as a tracking service. Well it is indeed but it also has a forum.
Register, go to your cpanel, and edit your details. Enter your website URL into the
“Your Homepage” box.
This way you could use any other high PR ranking websites as well. These are just
three that you could use but of course there are more websites like that out there
where you can just simply add your website URL in an “about me” section.

Step 5 – Create Blogs
You could start blogs from a lot of different websites like hubpages and eblogger.
I want to specifically talk about Squidoo. Squidoo is really good for traffic. In
general, “lenses” that are created can really rank well in Google. Besides that, the
lens can be found from inside of Squidoo too. A lens is pretty easy to set up, with
the modules that you can simply add in. I like Squidoo more than Hubpages and
also it seems that Hubpages has “no follow” links. Therefore I’m all for using
Squidoo.
What´s good about Squidoo is that, it has a high PR rank. It would be great to
create a few lenses, using your keywords and then do some cross linking in
between those lenses. Of course link to your website too but also link to the other
lenses. This has proven to be quite powerful too.

Step 6 – Social Media
This part might be kind of obvious. The use of social media is so widely used. I´m
sure you have got a Facebook account or Twitter account. Social media can be
utilised for free traffic to your website as well. You could set up a Twitter account
especially for your website and start to gain followers. Then you could drive free
traffic to your website by just one single Tweet!
On Facebook I usually create a page, where people can like the page. This can be
quite effective as well because you will be able to post and other people who
“liked” the post will see it show up in their story list.
You need to put your Facebook and Twitter details out there so that people can
actually start to follow you. You can actually add your twitter account to your
EzineArticles account. When people read your article and check out your profile
they will see your twitter details and can start following you that way. It will be
targeted traffic because the person got to read your article because of the use of
the keywords, you target.
Tweet Getter is a free tool you can use to get more followers on board on your
Twitter account. It is free, give it a shot. You will have to build a list and what is
better than having a free tool to help you.
Another tip I could give you is give free Webinars. This will bring a lot of free
traffic to your website if you just simply give a free webinar. Promote it on the
Warrior Forum for example and then go out there, do the webinar and get lots of
free traffic :)

Step 7 – Blog Comments & Forum Participation
Before I even start talking about this part I want to stress: DO NOT SPAM. I
absolutely hate spam. Today it’s so obvious when people spam it is just pathetic.
People are more educated on spam nowadays and they can easily pick it out.
What you want to do is put honest and good quality content comments out there.
The blogs you pick obviously need to have to do with the subject your website is
about. That way you know that it is the same kind of people you want to have on
your blog.
What you should keep in mind is that it is better if the blog is a “do follow” blog,
so when you put your link out there, the search engines will follow your link and
therefore it will count as a back link. Put the link in anchor text with your
keywords. Some blogs will not allow you to post a link in the comments but you
can simply add it to the description about yourself. Sometimes there are standard
forms for adding homepages for example.
Read a couple of entries and pick out one that interests you, where you can
respond with a comment that has some real "meat" to it. What I mean by "meat"
is some substance. Making a comment on a blog that says "Great idea! Thanks for
sharing" is NOT a good comment and will often not get approved which means
you have wasted your time. Give the blog post you are commenting on, some real
feedback on what you think or additional information that might help readers
understand what the blog post is trying to tell its readers. This way you will
definitely not spam and it won’t be seen as spam either.

Furthermore you can join at least three high traffic forums. It can give you some
nice back links too as well as website exposure via the signatures and profile
pages. The following forums are worth checking out when you have an online
business in the Internet Marketing Niche:
Warrior Forum (of course): 400.000 members
Digital Point Forum: 500.000 members
Affiliate4u Forum: 68.000 members
Get involved and start commenting (same as the blogs, do not spam). And the
good thing about participating in the forums is that you can actually learn
something as well!

Step 8 – Free Classified Ads
Classified ads are a great way to get more exposure for your website. Classified
advertising is free, so it is an ideal method for you to use if you are just starting
out and your budget is tight. Some online classified ad sites have an upgrade
option, which will provide you with more benefits, but it is not necessary to
upgrade to be successful with this type of advertising.
First of all you will need to decide on what you want to advertise. It is better to
advertise a sales page or a lead capture page than advertising a homepage. Make
sure that the page that you are advertising is attention grabbing.
Next is writing the advertisement. It is better to actually take some time to think
about how to summarize everything into a catchy ad.
Another important thing is making sure you advertise your website page in the
right category. This obviously has to do with the recurring term “targeted traffic”
;).
What you can do is ad different kinds of ads to different classied ad websites.
Then track your ads and see which ones work best. It could simply a couple of
words in your ad that can make the difference.

Step 9 – Make YouTube Videos
Scary ey? Make a YouTube video. Well, you don’t have to appear on it yourself
but what you can do is for example make screen capture videos. These videos can
simply show the person how to do something, so you would make a “How To”
video. Another option is to just make a video with illustrations and text. But of
course you could also appear on the video telling something. That is indeed the
most powerful thing to do in my eyes.
What you will do by appearing on video is that you show that you are real. You
aren’t a spammer. You have something to tell, you have something that adds
value to certain things. You come across more accessible and also you will build
some sort of a relationship with your viewers. You will become more trustable to
the other person.
Here too, you will want to use your keywords, so that when YouTube visitors
search with those keywords, they will be able to find your video. Put a link to your
website on your profile page as well as in the description box of your video. It is
best to put it as the first thing in the description box as it will only show a part of
it when playing the video. Your link will be visible in that small part of the
description box. (Most people are kind of lazy or do not see the reason to open
the description box to see all of it)

Step 10 – Expand
Sure enough you will have gained some more free traffic by now. What you want
to do next is to expand. Make more of everything! Because you have gained more
traffic you might make sales by now and earn some money. You could actually use
this money to reinvest in paid traffic or outsourcing.
Outsourcing could be a good way that will make the work load less heavy for you
so that you have time for other things to build your online business
while in the meanwhile the money will make its way to
your bank account. I know that all of those steps can be boring at
times and therefore when outsourcing these boring jobs you will
probably be more productive!
Outsourcing does not have to be that expensive either.
When you go to Fiverr.com you can hire someone to do
something for you for only $5.
Expansion, scaling it up, is what you will have to do to gain more visitors to your
website and thus to make more money online. You can start your Internet
