Jesus was sinless in his nature, thoughts, actions and resisted all temptation to sin. This is evidenced by descriptions of him as holy, righteous, and just in the Bible and testimonies from Pilate, his wife, the thief on the cross, and the centurion. Arguments against his sinlessness based on inherited and imputed sin from Adam are refuted by Jesus having no earthly father and receiving genetic material only from Mary. His sinlessness was necessary for him to be the perfect revelation of God, mediator, and sacrifice for human sins.

The Meaning of Sin
The word sin could be defined as any failure to conform perfectly to the
holy character and will of God.

9. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
Testimonies regarding the Sinlessness of Christ:
From the Lord Himself
Jesus’ own testimony. He saw sin in others but did not see sin in Himself.
John 8:46, “Which of you convinceth Me of sin?” He was without sin.
Christ was the only man that could ever make that claim honestly after
Adam’s fall. Jesus never admitted a fault or ever asked for forgiveness of
sins. No evil thought ever lodged in His perfect, holy mind.

no fault at all,” John 18:38. What a clear testimony from a responsible
judge under authority!
Jesus Christ was described as being “righteous” or “just” by Pilate, the
Roman procurator of Judea
10
11. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
Testimonies regarding the Sinlessness of Christ:
From the Mrs. Pontius Pilate
Mrs. Pontius Pilate – she was a woman, wife of the judge, and had no
personal interest in Christ, either favorably or otherwise. She had a dream
and sent her husband the following message, “Have thou nothing to do
with that just man (pure, holy, righteous man).” (Matthew 27:19).
11
12. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ

done nothing amiss.”
12
13. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ

From Judas Iscariot
Judas saw the miracles, heard His teaching, and observed Him closely,
finally betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver. Judas testified, Matthew
27:4, after the condemnation, “I have sinned in that I have betrayed

Testimonies regarding the Sinlessness of Christ:
From The Roman Centurion
The Roman centurion. Luke 23:47, “Certainly this was a righteous man.” A
wonderful testimony from a hardened Roman soldier.
14
15. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
Arguments against the Christ’s Sinlessness:
Argument 1: Inherited Sin
Adam, as the head of the human race, caused every person after him to
be born into a fallen condition or sinful state. This effect of Adam’s sin is
known as original sin and is often referred to as inherited sin. All human
beings have inherited a sinful nature through Adam’s original act of
disobedience (Romans 5:12–14).
15
16. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
In This Bible Lesson We will Discuss:
Argument 2: Imputed Sin
In addition to receiving a fallen nature, all people who came after Adam
have been credited with the guilt of Adam’s sin (Romans 5:18). That is the
meaning of imputed sin. An imputation is an attribution or a crediting of
something. Imputed sin is Adam’s guilt attributed to or credited to us. All
humans are counted as having sinned in Adam and thus deserving the same
punishment for sin as Adam
16
18. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
How did Jesus inherited a sinless human nature?
Answer: 1: Jesus had no earthly father
Father’ line: Jesus inherited genetic material from Mary (to be fully human,
i.e., descendant of Adam to become the Last Adam) but not from Joseph,
therefore, original sin must pass through the father to the offspring. This
allows Jesus to avoid original sin.
18
19. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
How did Jesus inherited a sinless human nature?
Answer: 1: Jesus had no earthly father
Jesus humanity was formed from 23 chromosomes from His mother Mary
and the other 23 was supplied without a human father this indicate that
the sin nature is passed on to human offspring through the father, not the
mother.
19
22. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
Consequences of denying Christ's Sinlessness:
If Jesus were sinful He had to die on Calvary for His own sin and we are
yet in our sins.
If Jesus were sinful, then He was neither the Son of God nor the Son of
man, the Savior.
If Jesus were sinful it would be impossible for Him to be a sacrifice on
Calvary.
22
23. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
Results of Christ's Sinlessness
Being sinless He was the perfect Revelation of God to mankind.
Being human and sinless it guarantees a perfect mediator.
Being human and sinless He became an acceptable sacrifice on Calvary for
our sins.
He set before us a perfect example for us to follow, I Peter 2:21, 22.
Christ Sinlessness points the way to a home in heaven opened to us by a
sinless Savior.
23
24. The Sinlessness of Jesus Christ
2 Corinthians 5:21
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him”
