Uninvited When a habbit becomes on obsession Death becomes closer to home...
GENRE The genre of our film ‘Uninvited’ is of the stalker horror genre, with conventions of slasher to give it that feel of it still being of the horror genre with all the blood and gore. Our main influences for our ideas have come from well known horror director ‘Wes Craven’ who has made and written some of the best horrors worldwide including ‘Last house on the left’, ‘Hills have eyes’, ‘Scream’ and ‘A nightmare on elm street.’ Another influence would be ‘Stephen King’ who has written some of the most frightening and unimaginable stories among the horror genre including IT, Dead Zone and Salem’s Lott.
Storyline When average, everyday teen, Lilly is left home alone one weekend it doesn’t begin to cross her mind that the least expected are closer to her than she thinks. After a series of online chats with a boy she has never met, Lily decides to take a risk and allows them to have a face to face chat through webcam. However what she doesn’t realise is that the people who come across as the perfect person over the internet, have the darkest of secrets and can sometime’s take obsessions to a whole new level...
TARGET AUDIENCE We have specifically targeted our film at boys and girls between the ages of 16-21 year olds. This is because we feel that the is the appropriate age range that would be most interested in the horror genre. Our film is based on the topic of social networking and so this is another convention we have used to try and aim our film at our picked audience as we know from handing out our questionnaires that these are the generation who are most involved with the likes of facebook, msn, myspace, tumblr, bebo etc.
Target audience Here are our audience posters in which we have tried to show what are picked target audience are most interested in.
CHARACTERS Lily- (Played by Kirsty Rice) Is a 16year old girl who is easily impressed and falls in love to quickly. She doesn’t feel the need to follow the crowd and instead has her own style and interests to make her an individual human being. She has had plenty of experiences with bad relationships and her up bringing hasn’t been the best. She relies on the comfort and loving of friends more than she does family and so when she meets Jamie she clings on to him as much as she can as she doesn’t want to loose anyone else in her life. Her personality can be a bit feisty but only when things are going wrong.
characters Jamie93- (Played by Lawrie Tubb) Makes out he is a 17 year old boy however his secret is that he is 37year old paedophile. He was originally bullied in school and was abused by his mother from a young age, because of his abusive up bringing he now feels the need to take out his anger and frustration from the past by luring women into a fake identity of a 17year old boy under the name of jamie93. His abusive past is now the reason for his uncontrollable and murderous behaviour towards woman. His unimaginable and horrific killings are all but fun and games.
characters Ava- (Played by Sophie Sangha) is an average 16year old teenager who is best friends with Lilly. She unlike Lily is particularly stubborn and can tell a lie from a mile off. When it comes to boys Ava is no pushover she can tell when something isn’t right which is the reason behind her warning Lilly as soon as she hears about her internet love. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and has no fear in upsetting someone if she is telling the truth. Ava is more out going compared to Lily and has more of a lively and sociable lifestyle unlike her best friend.
DISTRUBUTION We as a group have picked Universal Pictures (Universal Studios) to distribute our film as they are one of the largest and most well known production companies in the film industry. They also have a wider budget so would be able to distribute our film globally and with our film being British based production company our budget is small and so this would help if to attract bigger audiences from all over the world.
UNIQUE SELLING POINT The unique selling point for our film would be that it’s main storyline is based around social networking sites i.e. facebook and msn, which are seen to be becoming increasingly popular and apart of everyday life for average teenagers and as our targeted audience is aimed at this specific age range it will hopefully grab there attention immediately as they have never yet experienced a horror that revolves around the world of facebook and online networking.
