2. How I found them

3. UNO online volunteering
The United Nations Organization (UNO) online
volunteering program is a call for people and
organizations who want to take an active role in the
academic and professional improvement of people in
developing countries.

4. PEOI online volunteering
The PEOI online volunteering program advertises
opportunities through the UNO online volunteering
website. That is how I got to know them.
PEOI was created and is run by volunteers who
believe in making tertiary education available to
all free of charge.
PEOI offers recognized certificates of attainment to
those who successfully complete their courses.

5. What you can do at PEOI
• PEOI's programs of study prepare for major professions. At present, programs of study which
have been written, are the following:

- Agricultural sciences
- Architecture
- Communication Engineering
- Economics
- Education
- Finance
- Mass communication
- Medicine
- Nursing
- Public Health
• In addition to professional programs of study, PEOI is developing language courses since
fluency in some key language may be crucial to secure employment.
• PEOI's courses are committed to making sure the courses reflect a comprehensive body of
knowledge of each subject matter by using a variety of sources and teams of contributors.
• To be completed, a course must contain a variety of learning methods including full text with
examples, assignments, exercises, practice questions, cases and extensive testing for
assessment of knowledge. Successful completion carries a certificate of attainment.

6. Why volunteering?
To me volunteering is all about showing those who need help or lack
resources that there is hope for a better outcome in life.
The internet has proven that all those lucky enough to access it, can
provide a wealth of knowledge for free, from language courses to
copyright-free articles, to online seminars. It’s all about making them
available to people in developing countries in a standardized format
so that it constitutes examinable material.
Basically, my goal when joining UNO and PEOI was to contribute to
the development and implementation of tools and actions promoting
quality tertiary-level knowledge-sharing for free.
Volunteer work not only feels great, it also looks great on your CV,
speaking volumes about the kind of person you are.
