The Seven Natural Wonders Of
         The World
A booklet about the Seven Natural Wonders Of The World
The Northern Lights
• They occur most frequently in a belt of radius 2500 km from the north pole.
• Usually it occurs between 90 and 130 km above sea level, but some,
particularly the ray-like forms, extend to several hundred kilometres up.
• The Northern Lights start from when large numbers of electrons at high speed
rush in towards the Earth along its magnetic field and collide with the highest
    air particles.
• The resulting colours are an affect of which gases we find up there, the most
usual yellow-green colour coming from oxygen. Red light is also due to oxygen
with some from nitrogen. The violet you can see at the bottom of the Northern
Lights is due to nitrogen, like wise as the blue lights.
• It is a natural wonder of the world because it is
is an amazing site to see and it does not
     happen anywhere else.
•

    (355 feet)
• During the wet season over 500 million litres of water pours over the side
creating a 1000 foot high spray that can be seen 30 miles away.
• When David Livingstone first saw them he said “scenes so lovely must have
been gazed upon by angels in their flight.”
• The best time to go see the Victoria Falls is during March to May as of the rainy

• The youngest person to climb it was 15.
• The most ascents of Mount Everest is 11 by Appa Sherpa.
• The highest cause of death is Avalanches and there are roughly 120 corpes on
    Mt Everest.
• It is a natural wonder of the world because it
is the tallest Mountain in the world and is the
    most impressive.
The Grand Canyon
• The Grand Canyon is found in the US state of Arizona.
• The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 kilometres) in length.
• At its widest point the Grand Canyon stretches 18 miles (29 kilometres) across.
• The Grand Canyon is around 6000 (1800 metres) feet deep.
• The Colorado River runs through the Grand Canyon, it has been eroding its
steep sides for millions of years.
• The rock found at the bottom of the Grand Canyon (schist) is around 2 billion
    years old.
• It is a natural wonder of the world because of how spectacular it is and the fact
that it is visited by millions of people every year.
The Great Barrier Reef
• It is the largest reef in the world being as long as 1300 miles (2300km).
• You can see it from the Moon!
• There are over 2900 reef and 900 islands in the Great Barrier Reef.
• It covers a huge area of 35 million hectares.
• The Great Barrier reef has some of the greatest diversity of marine life in the
    world including-
• 1500 types of fish
• 400 types of coral
• 26 types of whales & dolphins

• It grew out of a cornfield
• The Paricutin volcano now stands at exactly 1,345 feet above the ground and
    9,210 feet above sea level.
• It’s hardened lava is covers about 10 square miles, its volcanic sand
(unconsolidated fragments of volcanic material) covers about 20 square miles.
• Paricutin is named after a small Tarascan Indian village.
• It is a cinder cone volcano.
• It is a natural wonder of the world because it is so beautiful and magnificent.
