A brief on the productivity analysis done for the engaged contractors in a sector for electrical cable laying activity - which measures the work productivity and cost analysis as well.
By doing this we arrest the critical activity easily by engaging right contractor based on their work performance/productivity and able to finish the activity within given time frame.

11. Cost Analysis
LOGISTICS
Trailer: Rs. 5000 / day (Rental)
No. of trips a day : 3
Cost of per trip: 5000/3 = Rs. 1666.7
Drums shifted 5*500 = 2500 mtrs
Per mtr cost of trailer engaged = 2500/1666.7 = Rs. 1.5 / mtr
Hydra: 8 Hrs X 1200 / hr = Rs. 9600 / day
Drum shifted 15 * 500 = 7500 mtrs
Per mtr cost of Hydra engaged = 7500/9600 = Rs. 0.80 / mtr
MANPOWER / OUTSOURCE
Weighted Avg. per mtr cost = Rs. 15
Outsource = 48% of Rs. 15 for labors = Rs. 7.2 / mtr
Cost (Logistics) / mtr ₹ 3.00
Outsource / manpower ₹ 7.2
Total Cost ₹ 10.20
Cost of Cable Laying ₹ 15.00

15. PRODUCTIVITY
Total Kms laid: 17.538
Total Mandays engaged: 453
Productivity of each labor: 17.538/453 = 0.039 (kms)
In mtrs = 0.039 x 1000= 39 (mtrs) / day (avg.)
Therefore: productivity a of a labor x no. of labor engaged
Note: Above calculation is done for 8 hr/day (std. working hrs)

Productivity of each labor: 26.946 / 253 = 0.107 (kms)
In mtrs = 0.107 x 1000= 107 (mtrs) / day (avg.)
Therefore: productivity a of a labor x no. of labor engaged
Note: Above calculation is done for 8 hr/day (std. working hrs)
24. Constraint's
Manpower : Holi festival (unavailability of labour in
2nd week of march for 7 – 10 days)
Equipment: Tight schedule of Hydra, for shifting cable
drums
25. Turntable Utilization
For sector 10:
Total cable laid: 123 kms
Duration: 74 days
Avg. laying progress per day: 123 / 74 = 1.66 kms
For a week = 1.66 x 7 = 11.63 kms (avg.)
That’s equivalent to turntable efficiency
27. Agency Analysis
M/s. Premier Plant & Engg. Ltd.
Unable to adapt the site condition (stringent in
nature)
Unable to mobilize the manpower
Unskilled supervisor
Unable to engage Hydra
Time: unavailability of supervisors at site in time
28. Agency Analysis
M/s. N. Govindraj
Flexible and adaptive as per site condition
Able to mobilize the materials (owned pick up van)
Able to engage hydra
Supervisor – 4 no’s – Easy to manage / easy to line up
activity, hard to maintain reconciliation
Reliable to work with it
Perfect Bell curve – for mobilizing manpower
29. Agency Analysis
M/s. Rameshwar Singh
Engage low manpower
Only One supervisor – hence easy for reconciliation,
delay in managing site.
Less reliable as compared to N. Govindraj
Lost interest at the end of the project
