2. Chapin Elementary Eaglet
After-School Program
Mission Statement
“To provide after school care in a nurturing
and safe environment that supports growth
as learners within a community of
character.”
3. Program Overview
• The after school program was established as a service for working
parents.
• Our program will strive to promote a safe, caring and respectful
educational environment for our children through the use of innovative
teaching strategies and programs that are designed to provide
opportunities for success of our children.
• The staff members are responsible and accountable for the day-to-day
operations of the program. Questions, concerns and suggestions
should be directed initially to the director, Mrs. Faye Taylor. This can
be done by note or in person, when you pick up your child(ren). The
principal, Mrs. Harriet Wilson, is also available to you, but your first
source of information should be the director of the program.
• Students will be directed to the cafeteria or other assigned area each day
by the classroom teachers at 2:40 p.m. Parents should send a note or
call the school on those days that students are at school but will not be
remaining for the After-School Program. It is very important that
parents comply with this request.
Staff and Adult/Student Ratios
• Our staff is here to ensure that each child achieves success and to provide them with a safe
learning environment. Our hard working staff includes CES teachers, staff members and
other trained staff. Our child to adult ratio is 10 to 1.
4. ROTATION SCHEDULE
• The Eaglet Program will offer daily periods that promote cooperative
and hands-on activities in areas to help students develop socially,
cognitively, physically and emotionally.
SNACKS
• Our program will offer a variety of nutritious snacks
after school. If snacks are brought from home due to
special dietary needs, they are to be eaten during the
designated snack time.
**Parents should contact and notify the after-school
program administration concerning special dietary
needs.
5. At Eaglets we…
Do homework in the cafeteria Do art projects in the art room
Have organized games in the gym Have recess time outside
6. We also…
Go to the computer lab Have social time in the science lab
Play games on the soccer field Have snack in the cafeteria
7. Health Concerns
• If your child has any medical conditions (allergies
material/food, etc. or medical issues, asthma, etc) the
director must be notified.
• Any child showing signs of illness will be closely
monitored. Parents may be contacted to come pick up the
child.
• Eaglet personnel shall administer, or obtain immediate
treatment for a child if necessary. If an emergency event
should occur, 911 will be called and parents will be
notified.
• If your child needs to take medication of any type, the
district policy regarding medication must be followed.
8. •
Discipline
Proper behavior is expected and discipline policies will be enforced during the
after-school program. We will give special emphasis to the following
guidelines:
• Be polite
• Respect others
• Follow directions
• Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself
• Use soft voices inside the school
• Be Like Eddie! Do an Eddie Check!
• If a child is unable to comply with the behavior expectations, a referral note will be
sent home. Depending on the severity of the behavior referral, the parent/guardian
will be notified immediately, or at pick-up.
• If after the above referral, the child is still unable to comply with the behavior
expectations, the program director will set up a conference with the parent/guardian.
A behavior contract will be established and signed by the child (if appropriate),
parent/guardian and the program director.
• If the child’s behavior continues to be disruptive and/or unsafe, the child will be
subject to suspension or dismissal from Eaglets.
• Failure of the parent/guardian to attend conference(s) and cooperate will subject the
child to suspension or dismissal from Eaglets.

11. Pick-Up/Dismissal
• Pick-up will be located at the CES back lobby.
• We reserve the right to request identification from anyone picking up a student from the
program.
• Parent/guardian must sign children out each day.
• Only individuals from the approved list on the registration form will be allowed to
pick up a student.
• If someone other than the parent(s) comes to pick up a child, a staff employee will
check the registration form. If the name is not listed, we will not release the child
until we can contact the parent for approval. When calling ahead to authorize pick-
up by someone not on the list, please be prepared to give the staff specific information
regarding that person. For safety reasons, we ask that everyone on the pick up list be
at least 16 years of age.
• There will be an additional charge of $1.00 for each minute you arrive after the
scheduled pick-up time of 6:30 p.m. A phone call is appreciated if you know that
you will be late; however, the call does not eliminate late fees. The Eaglet After
School telephone number is 803-608-5793.
•
• Please realize that our staff members have families and commitments. Should your
child be left for an extended period of time, a law enforcement agency will be
contacted. Your understanding and cooperation in this most sensitive matter is greatly
appreciated. A continuing problem of late arrivals for pick-up will be cause for the child
