Sustainable Learning and Knowledge Build Up MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse® Introduction
MicroLearning - Academy 1. What is MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse®?
Just imagine this is the desktop of an employee or manager
Lots of files
E-mails
Spreadsheets
Phone calls
Even more e-mails
Documents
Time management software
And let us assume that the employee should learn all this: Stay updated with new regulations… develop additional skills… improve performance…
The seminar took place a few weeks ago, and no one remembers much of it…
There is no time for sustained learning on a typical working day…
The head is filled to the brink.
? In such a situation – how can one learn
Let us take the Cardiac Pulse Generator as an example
And now imagine a Brain Pulse Generator
And let us turn this into a KnowledgePulse® Generator which lets every employee learn easily, conveniently and continuously!
A new approach to Trainings: MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse®
micro-step by micro-step, learning is easy
a timely flow of short impulses supports the employee
casual, in-between, repeated unobtrusively, following a smart personalized pattern.
MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse® feels like this:
Everyday information work
Calls interrupting
After the call is ended, the employee is free to switch back to other activities --- and helpfully there is the KP prompt: the employee can accept or dismiss
The employee accepts and immediately can take a microlearning step: the KP widget client presents the next learning card. CLICK A short micro-activity
The employee answers the question… CLICK
… and receives immediate feedback! User‘s personal trace gets stored in the KP Server User sees the answer immediately
After taking 3 or more steps, the employee can keep on working without losing stride.
This way, employees and managers can learn steadily, easily and at their workplace.
20 successful „microlearning activities“ per day is a typical number, and easily achieved.
Users can configure themselves when and how often they want the KP Widget to become active. When the time is not right, the bubble can be clicked away with one quick move.
These micro-steps are so casual and quick that they do not feel like interruptions. They take advantage of the tiny gaps that occur between different activities……….. even in the tightest packed workday.
MicroLearning Academy ,[object Object],[object Object]
There are a number of different types of KP learning cards which are available for different types of learning and various contents: examples are…
Example 1: Simple question – simple answer
Example 2 a: Multiple Choice / Single Select Learning-card, well suited for exam preparation Correct answer
Example 2 b: Multiple Choice – Single Select Learning-card, well suited for complex content
Example 3: Multiple Choice / Multiple Select Incorrect answer. Correct answers are pointed out.
Info Context hide/unhide In addition 1: The KnowledgePulse® provides added infos to both question and answer Employees can deepen their knowledge and access additional information and learning resources
The progress of learning is tracked, displayed by the widget client and stored on the server. In addition 2: Users receive motivating feed-back about their learning progress
The rate and the frequency can be changed continually In addition 3: Each learner can adjust individually the KP settings The time of inactivity of the device can be set according to personal preference Progress indicator and feedback enhancer can be turned off or on
Once only: Login after installation. The Server-URL of the courses is set by default. In addition 4: 5 click simple sign up for MicroLearning with the KnowledgePulse®
A multiple number of lessons and courses can be provided at the same time and users can select them by simply clicking on the course selection menu. Please be aware: it does not make much learning sense to mix subjects. The KP shows learning cards only from the last choice selected; it does not mix contents. The MicroLearning Academy approach: KP can offer a series of lessons and courses
MicroLearning - Academy Approach ,[object Object],[object Object],3. What are the unique learning principles of MicroLearning ?
[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Integrated MicroLearning using the KnowledgePulse® ® is based on following aspects:
MicroLearning using the KnowledgePulse® ® is aiming at: Everyone forgets anything after a very short time time memory Forgetting curve (Ebbinghaus) One time learnings have no effect in terms of knowledge retention. Single seminars or online sessions are wasted investments.
KnowledgePulse® increases memorisation and secures training investments … the repetitive “popping up” of lessons insure that material is transferred from short-term memory into long-term memory The learner sets the pace… ...KnowledgePulse® smartly determines the “what” “when” and “how many”! Leitner system based on flash-cards
KP: Learning by repetition leads to a sustained knowledge build up 1st Repetition 2nd Repetition time Repeat learning is the basis of all knowledge retention. KnowledgePulse® Secures training investments.
