Mkt 421 Week 2 Assignment
I selected the Louisville Cardinals' to discus this week for my week two assignment. This was Louisville's fourth conference change since
1996.Louisville join the Conference U.S.A that year and was not welcome by its other conference colleagues, because the men's basketball team was
on probation by the NCAA. The Louisville program was also apart of a 60 minutes investigation, their home football games were being played in a
minor league baseball stadium and their school has some serious Title IX issues according to Murphy, B (2014, July 1). Despite all of the surrounding
issues Louisville went on to become successful on the field and basketball courts, they join the Big East conference and made their brand very attractive.
Although, Louisville's brand had become attractive, the conference they had joined was losing its appeal, due to conference realignments. The Big
East lost the majority of its superb teams instantaneously. The major hit came to the Big East conference when what I consider the Big Seven in
college basketball Georgetown, De Paul, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova left together, which became a major split in the
conference in 2012 effective in 2013. Murphy, B. (2012,December 16) Yet, in 2012 The ACC conference was getting their tails kicked in BCS football
play and on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole conference realignments were mainly about business. Schools joining the most popular conferences to enhance their brand, so they could
recruit better players. Yet, they win more games, and receive better T.V deals. The T.V exposure brings a lot more exposure to their Universities that
will also benefit through student enrollment. If college sports were not a business, Louisville would have stayed right in the Big East and the ACC
would have been content with their top football teams in their conference leaving and finding another

The Batting Of Baseball Scouts
We are baseball scouts and we just got to the high school to look at a player. He is on the home team and is a shortstop that we want to draft. His
number is 71. He is batting cleanup (4th). He just came out to take batting practice.
Now in the 1st inning, with 2 outs, he makes a diving stop to get the third out. End of the inning. He is up to bat in the bottom of the first inning with
runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out. Here comes the pitch... BOOM! That ball hit him right in the small of the back. He is down and he's not getting back
up. The home team might have lost their star infielder in the 1st inning, but no, he gets up and walks to first base. Bases loaded, one out.
The next batter hits a fly ball to the right fielder. The runner on third tags and scores. 0–1.
It is the top of the 5th inning and the first batter hits a sharp grounder to the shortstop. It should be an easy out, but the ball bounces off his glove and
scatters toward the center fielder. The next batter hits a pop–up to the first baseman. One out. Next up, the catcher. He hits a sharp bouncing ball to the
2nd baseman, who turns it into a 4–6–3 (second bacemen, to the shortstop, to the first baseman) double play.
It is in the top 8th inning with runners on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, one out for the other team. The other team has their best hitter up. He hits a ball high and
far to deep left center field, out number two. The runner on 3rd is tagging up, the left fielder gets the

The Education System : A Comprehensive High School Program
Currently in the U.S education system, I can only think of one policy/practice/program that is similar to the Cardinal Principles outline. In many high
schools around the country there are CTE courses and teachers that students can participate in. CTE (Career and Technical Education) are taught in
many areas that are found in the professional world from business management to technology to arts to legal studies. To be a certified teacher in any
of these areas, one has to have a degree/certain amount of credits in that CTE topic or a set amount of years of real world professional experience
working in that field. CTE courses and curriculum is very aligned to what the Cardinal Principals authors had in mind with the structure of a
comprehensive high school. This high school utopia that allows students to venture in to many different areas outside of the core subjects was what the
Cardinal Principals authors seemed to believe was the answer to stronger educational outcomes and members of society.
Every high school does not offer CTE courses and teachers; there a number of reasons why. Very much like the Cardinal Principals understanding,
every high school cannot provide a comprehensive curriculum that tailors to every type of interest. Funding and need definitely come in to play in
this area. Additionally, looking at the last high school I was working at as an example, I do not believe that every population/SES group needs or
desires this type of curriculum. The public high

The Catholic Church
In the history of the Catholic Church, there have been many Pontifical elections and even more Popes serving as the head of the Catholic Church. The
Papal Conclave was introduced years after the Roman Catholic Church was established. The position of Pope is currently occupied by His Holiness
Pope Francis–whose birth name is Jorge Bergoglio. Pope Francis assumed position in March 2013 after the resignation of his predecessor two weeks
prior. Taking into the account the history of the Catholic Church, the Papal conclave is a relatively new concept. Before the conclave and the
College of Cardinals, choosing a new Pope was and arbitrary process which changed with each new Papal appointment; "One account of an
election in 236 noted that a dove settled on the head of Fabian, a Christian was not even mentioned among several candidates. Fabian was chosen
because the dove was interpreted as a sign of the Holy Spirit's choice" (Bellitto 110). The origins of the conclave are traced back to 769 when it was
declared that all Roman clerics could vote for a new Pope, but were limited to the cardinals as candidates (Bellitto 110). Even then, the election of a
new Pope was an exciting, "public events witnessed by hundreds of ordinary people who would watch the voting a bit like one might a sporting
event" (Simpson). Before the voting process begins, the position of the Pope, officially the Bishop of Rome, must be unoccupied, either because a
serving pontiff has passed away or has retired.

Female Priests And The Gender Inequality Within The...
Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church
From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives
in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the "thorn in the side" of progressive ideas,
movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent
of the world's population and a half of all Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ("Catholic Desires for Change"). Catholicism is unique among
Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure has remained almost unchanged since the time of the
Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of the solar
system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei's crimes of heresy, three centuries after the man's death (Cowell,
1992). As many western institutions begin to diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female
participation in all positions of authority and significance. The Church's sedated progressivism has never been more egregious than in the rapidly
changing society of the last half century, with the millennia old barriers of sexism rapidly

Pope Paul Vi And John Paul II
The third and longest chapter of the book dealt with how the documents have been received and implemented in the church over the last forty years.
What appears to be evident is there was a lot of confusion in how and what needed to be done to implement the teachings of Vatican II. Gaillardetz
quotes John Henry Newman at the beginning of the chapter, "it is uncommon that a Council not be followed by great confusion." Gaillardetz shows
that the two major proponents for helping to understand the council documents were Pope Paul VI and John Paul II. There are several references to their
writings as Pope that clarified misunderstandings or built upon the teachings in the documents. A key issue thatPope Paul VI built upon was the
inclusion of the laity in the sensus fidei, in the discernment of church matters. Gaillardetz notes in the 1980s American bishops adopted a consultative
process of listening to experts before drafting pastoral letters. "The bishops took seriously the assumption of both Vatican II and Paul VI that all God's
people, and not only the hierarchy, must engage in the central processes of ecclesial discernment." Another implementation issue had to do with as
noted in the book from Karl Rahner "Vatican II marked the beginning of the church's discovery and official realization of itself as world–Church." This
led to a theology where the local church "not only received from the universal church but also offer to the church universal its own particular gifts

Searching for colleges is an arduous task for many students. Students looking for colleges need a place where they will be supported and certain to

including recreational, educational, and service related opportunities. (On Campus) Saginaw Valley StateUniversity has multiple services dedicated to
the wellbeing of their students, and has options for disable students as well. (Goss)When students become a Cardinal, many opportunities become

Students learn about a specific social issue, and then travel to another state or country to to provide service relating to the issue. Aside from all the
other activities, Saginaw hosts 110 clubs for students to join. These include sports teams, volunteer groups, and some that simply get together to relax
and play games. No matter what a scholar is interested in, they can find place for themselves at Saginaw Valley. (On Campus) For many students,
tuition has a huge impact on their final college choice. Tuition for in–state residents at Saginaw Valley is $8,907 per year, and for out–of–state students,
tuition is $21,509. Compared to the average in–state tuition cost for other Michigan universities, Saginaw Valley was found to have 51% cheaper
tuition. The university is ranked as having the 11th cheapest college tuition in the state. SVSU also charges about $438 in additional fees, for both
in–state and out–of–state students. The room and board is a little more expensive than tuition at SVSU however, due to the fact that SVSU dorms are
ranked the best in Michigan. Comfort is key for students at Saginaw. The total price is estimated to be $9,185 per year. Off–campus students are also
advised to budget $9,185 or more for rent, and all students are suggested to be prepared for between $1,000–3,000 additional living expenses, although
that is not isolated to Saginaw students. As a Cardinal, students can expect to pay about $1,300 for books

MLB: Poem Analysis
The Boys Who Want to Play in the MLB
Two boys named Josh and Harold were going to a Cardinals game. When they were walking down they saw a little poem that said,
You can never be a
Bad player, until
You tell
Yourself.
–Frank Fitzgerald
"Who is Frank Fitzgerald?" said Josh. "It says right here that Frank Fitzgerald was an
All–Star Legend, and played for 20 years in the MLB. He played for the Colorado Rockies, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Pittsburg Pirates, and the
St. Louis Cardinals." Said Harold.
"So, he was an All–Star legend who played for 4 teams!" "That's what it says right here." "The game is about to start. We got to go." The announcer said,

Importance Of Catholic Education Essay
Why Catholic Education is Important to Me
Ever since I was little, I have felt that Catholic education has been the best fit for me. Catholic education is important to me because I am able to
practice my faith and get an individualized education that will help prepare me for college and for real life. At school, praying and worshiping
with my friends has always been natural to me, as we feel more like a family than just classmates. With a faith filled, family based education that
teaches me not only academic lessons, but life lessons, I know I will be adequately prepared to give back, especially give back to the Giver of all life.
Firstly, I feel that I have received a more personalized education, as Catholic schools typically have smaller class sizes than public schools. I am able
to focus on my school work and my spiritual life without most of the extra distractions. By nurturing my academics, I am able to tend and be tended
to by my teachers and my parents, who support me by teaching me not only school lessons, but also valuable life skills and morals.
Another reason why Catholic education is important to me is that since I have always attended Catholic school, it has become like a second family me.
During religion class, my friends and I frequently pray for each other and we ask others to pray for our personal needs as well. Some of my classmates
and I are so close, we are like siblings rather than teenagers who go to school together. If I attended a public school, with

Louis Anthony Research Paper
Hi, I am Louis Anthony Giaquinto. I go by Louis or Anthony. My family and friends call me Anthony, but when I am being professional I am known
by Louis. I expect to graduate in the summer of 2019 with two degrees in Film Production and Business Management. I plan on pursuing a life in the
film industry, and with both degrees I will hone on both my business and artsy side. Arizona StateUniversity, ASU, has a stellar business program
known as W. P. Carey, which is one of the reasons I chose ASU. It is highly rated, and the teachers care about their students' success. Why would I
chose ASU for film, especially since there are prestigious film colleges like New York University, University of California Los Angeles, and
University of Southern California? The answer is one word: money. Those schools cost around forty grand a semester for out of state students. ASU
was feasible, and it had a good and upcoming film program. The film program is in its infancy at ASU. I speak primarily English, and a little bit of
Spanish. I grew up in an English speak household; thus, I naturally learned English. In high school, I took three years of Spanish. My third year was an
honors class, and I was a part of the National Spanish Honor Society. So far, my writing experience is short lived.... Show more content on

Sometimes I go to the movies to become completely brain dead, and just enjoy the visual aesthetics. Other times, I analyze the shot selection, the

especially the National Football League. I am Cardinals fan, and I believe the Cardinals are Super Bowl bound this year. Although, Seattle is looking
intimidating after they demolished the Cardinals, 36 to 6. Lastly, I enjoy reading. I read books and comics. Some of my favorites, are The Hunger

Summary : ' The Big Puma '
Lance Berkman, "the Big Puma," also known as "Fat Elvis," was a six time MLB All–Star, the National League Comeback Player of the Year in 2011 a
World Series champion with the St. Louis Cardinals the same year, and the National League leader in runs batted in for 2002. He was an outfielder
/first baseman for the Houston Astros from 1999–2010, the New York Yankeesin 2010, the Cardinals from 2011–2012, and the Texas Rangers in 2013.
Despite all his accomplishments on a baseball diamond and his passion for winning, he is even more passionate about sharing his faith in Jesus Christ
as the Savior of the world.
"I don 't think you can overstate the importance of using your platform or using the position that you 've been given to effect good in every
circumstance," Berkman commented in Sharing the Victory on God using his faith while for His glory before he retired. "Obviously, the only
reason I 'm where I am is because God has gifted me and has seen fit to put me here. I have to honor that by using my influence and status on the
team and in the game of baseball for good and for His purpose."
His career statistics are certainly notable. He had a .293 career batting average, with 366 home runs, and 1,234 runs batted in. He was always
successful, even in college, as he was named the 1997 National College Player of the Year, when he played for Rice and had a .385 batting average in
college. In just his third year as a professional, he was fifth in voting for the Most Valuable

John D Rockefeller Transformational Leadership Examples
Transformational leadership was defined by Mr. Burns as, "those who seek to change pre–existing thoughts, techniques, and goals for better results and
the greater good." Transformational leaders practice working to change the political system, reforming past experiences from other leaders to devise a
solution for a need, comprehending what needs to be changed for the greater good, and establishing an infrastructure that develops high quality and
quantities of team members. Dissimilar to the transactional leadership style, transformational leadership uses motivation and empathy in order to
develop an infrastructure of effective members to change the worldly issues. Transformational leadership is also known as the "selling" style of
leadership due to its ability to influence people to do what the leader is asking of them. A prime example of a transformational leader is John D.
Rockefeller, who is the founder of Standard Oil. What made Rockefeller's oil enterprise successful was his ability to empathize with other
employees, and then set his and the entire workforce of the company's minds upon one simple vision. One of his most renowned quotes also
describes his ability to carry out his transformational leadership lifestyle. This quote is, "Good leadership consists of showing average people how to
do the work of superior people." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Some questions I would ask Pope Leo X "did you ever think you would become the Pope?" and "was it hard to change from being called Giovanni

little hard to change names at first, but I liked being called Pope Leo X." I would likely talk about the arts with him because it is something I'm
interested in and something that he seemed to be interested in. We would discuss his time as Pope and what he thought he did well and what he
thought he didn't do so well during his rule. Most importantly, we would talk about how he thinks he's made an impact in the world we're living in today.

Leonardo Vetria Research Paper
When physicist Leonardo Vetra is found murdered with the word "Illuminati" branded onto his chest, Maximilian Kohler, the director of CERN
(European Council for Nuclear Research), contacts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon for help. Kohler has Langdon flown to CERN. Langdon
explains the role of the Illuminati–a secret society of artists, scientists, and freethinkers–as a long–standing enemy of the Catholic Church. While
Langdon is explaining this, and learning more about Vetra's research, Vetra's adopted daughter, Vittoria, who is also a physicist, joins them. Vittoria
and her father had created antimatter in a CERN lab. This was doubly important to her father because he was a priest, and the discovery promised to
give humanity access to the secrets of creation. However, it is also a great threat because antimatter explodes when it comes into contact with normal
matter. This becomes a pressing issue when they learn that their biggest sample has been stolen, and the battery that generates the magnetic field (and
keeps the antimatter stable) has only a twenty–four–hour life span. CERN is then contacted by the Vatican: a threat has been issued indicating that the...

What Is Secular Puritanism?
I have written a brief play addressing what's happening on college campuses these days–campuses such as Yale and the University of Missouri. It
would appear that institutions charged with the responsibility of teaching young adults academic content and critical thinking skills have discovered
that radical politics and indoctrination are much easier to do and equally profitable. Apparently, offering extra credit in college for taking part in social
justice protests has become popular in some quarters.
A set of silly Monte Python skits inspired this one–act play. The Python skits use two ersatz cardinals (Biggles and Fang), as well as the real historical
figure, Cardinal Francisco XimГ©nez of Spain, who bridged the 15th and 16th centuries. He was chosen by King Ferdinand to serve as the Inquisitor
of Castile and was elevated to the office of Cardinal by Pope Julius II ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not a liberal campaign; in fact, it is most illiberal. On college campuses and in pop culture, we have seen the rise of something that I call
Secular Puritanism, a movement that uses a feigned concern for the feelings and integrity of minorities as a weapon to dismantle civil liberties, to
silence critics, and to impose repressive social policies–all in the name of social justice, inclusion, and tolerance. It uses specious moral claims to
justify robbing all people–no matter the race, gender, creed, or identity––of personal freedom in an effort to control what they do, feel, think, and
believe. By offering simplistic ethical dictums, with a dash of moral arrogance, modern Secular Puritans have seduced many citizens, particularly
Millennials, into believing that the exchange of a free society for a corrupt North Korean–style repression would eliminate racial, class, ethnic,
religious, and even sexual dissatisfactions–perhaps even curing global warming in the

The Pope As A Spiritual Place
The Pope is the bishop of Rome and the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope is one of the most important religious aspect to Christians
from all around the world. This means that he represents Jesus Christ's love and care for every individual. That is why the Pope 's priority is to get to
know people, understand how they live, listen to their interests while sharing hardships and joy. In addition, "the Pope is also the Unifier of the People
of God." The Pope travels all around the world, from the richest to the poorest countries to meet with people, learn their stories, and to bless them. But
most importantly, "the Pope's roles are known as Biblical, Dogmatic Development, Church Government and Papal Primacy Teaching Office." The
beginning of the Church was a unique and creative act of Christ, it's a place that brings people together where experiences are brought to life and
shared with one another. The Church is a spiritual place, a community of believers who all share one common thing; having faith. But in order for the
church to function properly it needs constant guidance to show people its mission. Therefore, Christ perceived the need that someone should take
control and guide the church's mission in the right direction and also to have a primacy over his Church. So, He laid this authority on Peter until he
would return and take control himself. But the authority or office didn't stay on Peter necessarily, there came a time that he had to resign and for a new

Power, Privilege, And Responsibility is Education
Imagine what the world will be like without education. Malcolm X states that "without education, you are not going anywhere in this world." People
think they will get through life without education, but little do they know the importance of it. Educated individuals have power because they are able
to understand complex info and are more informed to prevent being taken advantage of. It is also a privilege because not everyone has access to
education and those who do have education get better treatment. Education is a responsibility because educated people have to act fairly and honestly.
Don Cardinal did a speech about "Appreciating Your Privilege, Embracing Your Responsibility," therefore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trust is power" (Cardinal 4). Skloot shows how education is power throughout the whole book. One of the ways that was shown how education is
power is by Deborah who lacked in education because she says, "when I go to the doctor for my checkups I always say my mother was Hela..." (Skloot
9). Deborah at a young age left school in the sixth grade to go help in the field but then she ended up going to school and barely finished high school.
She hardly understood anything because she was practically deaf and had a difficult life at home. The only reason why she barely finished was
because Bobbette, a very close family told her "I don't care what you do, but you get an education, cause that's your only hope" (Skloot 116).
Second reason why she lacked in power was because she does not really know anything about her mother except that her mother was used in the
science world. Deborah must rely on Skloot for information because Skloot understands the scientific terms unlike her. The third reason why she
lacked in power was because Deborah does not know who to trust. Before she met Skloot, a man name Sir Lord Keenan Kester Cofield came trying
to help the Lacks family by informing them what Hopkins did with their mother cells, but things ended up bad. The attorney of Hopkins told the
Lacks family who Cofield was, he was a man who got out of prison, lying about who he was saying he was a lawyer and a doctor, so he

Stan Musial
Today I'm here to tell you about Stan the Man in his early life he lived it like any other kid did in the great depression he was born on November 21,
1920 his father worked at the steel mill and struggled to put food on the table for the family. He loaded wire bales onto freight cars. The family mostly
struggled because Stan's dad struggled with alcoholism. Stans mother put in long hard hours as a domestic worker and the family often relied on
donations from food pantries. Then Stan later remembered his mom making him baseballs "out of a little bit of this and that." When Stan was a young
adult he worked odd jobs to help support the family, to keep food on the table. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was the only member of his family to graduate from high school. Musial always dreamed of being a professional baseball player. He started
wanting to be one ever since he was eight years old. When he turned seventeen he signed a pitching contract with the St. Louis Cardinals for sixty
five dollars and he even left for a spring training. He then wrote a autobiography it was call "What made me sign with the cardinals? Because they
used salesmanship, the personal touch. Where other wrote, they talked. Where others waited, they acted. That early bird that got the worm must
have been a redbird." When he retired he said "if I had to do it all over again he would've went to college before he went and played professional
baseball although baseball treated me wonderfully i missed something." In nineteen thirty seven Stan met his wife Lillian. On May twenty fifth
nineteen forty the got married in Daytona Beach Florida. They remained married and for seventy two years and had four children. Playing as a

Ethical Issues In Higher Education
Affirm your actions
College is the time of exploration, experimentation, to be irresponsible and learn from all of that in order to truly grow and mature, yet some are
guaranteed this experience in the carefree wonderful manner it was intended to be while others must rub pennies together and save just to even make it
to those big beautiful University gates.
For my research paper I chose to explore a topic that is extremely prevalent and important to not only a specific age group but also society as a whole.
In this day in age, it is imperative to strive for higher education for without a degree progression is stifled and the window of opportunity narrows
significantly. I want to delve into the ethical issues that surround higher education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dbq Secularization
The Secularization of the Nations Of the factors contributing to the secularization of Europe during the Renaissance Period, I would like to describe
the three which I believe are the most important. These three factors are power, economics, and humanism. Because of shifting values, people were
returning to the philosophies which gave ancient civilizations such as Rome and Greece their security. Beginning with the factor of power perhaps no
greater loss of power occurred within the Holy Roman Church than its abduction from Rome during the Babylonian Captivity period (ca. 1309–1378
A.D.). The church was unsure if Pope Clement V was leading the church or if it was King Philip IV. A folly immediately following this abduction was
known as the Great Schism (ca. 1378–1415 A.D.). The Great Schism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the election of Pope Urban VI, a call for reform was made beginning with the College of Cardinals. The College became so upset with Urban
that it elected another pope. The College and the new pope went back to Avignon leaving Urban behind. Pope Urban consults the Canon Law, sees
that his Papal authority is legitimate and then selects a new College of Cardinals. In an effort of damage control, the two Colleges get together and
rescind the two papacies and then elect another new pope. The two dethroned popes convene Mayhew 2 and choose another College. Finally, at the
Council of Constance, they remove the first two popes and allow the last elected pope to resign. The College then elects one Pope who will serve in
Rome. This Schism would discredit the Roman papacy along with the papacy's

Pat Tillman Hero
In America, we often idolize our sports stars. However, we do not always idolize them for the right reasons. Throughout many of our childhoods and
even adult lives, we see athletes as heroes, but are they just good athletes or do they have characteristics that make them truly heroic? Pat Tillman was
not just an NFL star, but a true hero. He lived a life of bravery, honor and sacrifice that still influences people to this day. Pat Tillman set an almost
unreachable standard of character that everyone, not just athletes should strive for.

members were ordered to tow the vehicle, but were attacked by Taliban insurgents. When Tillman and his half of the platoon came to the rescue, they
were mistaken for enemy soldiers. Tillman was shot three times in the head while protecting a young soldier" (1). It was later learned that the military
and the government had worked to cover up how Tillman was killed. His biography states, "After Tillman's death, the investigation proved that Army
commanders and members of the Bush administration concealed the truth behind the soldier's shooting by destroying items of his clothing, his

Pope Leo X was born into the Medici family on December 11, 1475 in the Republic of Florence and given the name Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici

Historical Events That Occurred During Europe During The...
There were many historical events that occurred in Europe during the sixteenth century. At this time, Europe was not very virtuous and respectable.
This is because at this time, the Protestant Revolt nearly destroyed the Catholic Church. In addition to this, European politics were compromised by
religious struggles which laid the foundation for the Thirty Years' War. Though there were numerous events that occurred in sixteenth century Europe
that are worth noting, this essay will focus on three individuals who heavily influenced history in the West. The essay will not only describe the lives

During this war, he saw this as a chance for France to develop as a Christian country, both Catholic and Protestant. "Many Catholics, including the

allowed the Huguenots to continue practicing their religion as long as they stayed loyal to the king" (Armand–Jean du Plessis de Richelieu Biography,

did not fulfill his position as a Catholic in truly advancing the Catholic faith in France– not Protestantism. Instead of making France a united Catholic

The Causes Of The Black Death
European civilizations developed most of their foundations during the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth centuries. During this time, the Catholic Church
reached its climax. By the fourteenth century however, a devastating number of catastrophes resulted in the destruction of medieval civilization. The
Black Death, a devastating plague, was the most destructive natural disaster in European history. Following in its wake were numerous economic and
social crises, including political unrest during the Hundred Years' War. TheCatholic Church also experienced its own crisis. All of these economic,
social and political issues shook Europe to its core, but not enough to crumble its resilient foundation. At the beginning of the fourteenth century,
Europe began to experience a change in weather patterns that shortened growing seasons that resulted in widespread famine and hunger. This in turn
contributed to citizens having a higher susceptibility to disease due to malnourishment, especially evident when the Black Death struck Europe. The
Black Death, an epidemic of the bubonic plague, swept through Europe in the mid–fourteenth century causing social, political and cultural turmoil.
Genoese merchants brought the plague to Sicily, off the coast of Italy, which then made its way through commercial trade routes all the way into Spain
and France (Spielvogel). At the time, no one knew how the plague was transmitted from person to person. Ultimately, one–third of the European

On my Junior year, I truly believe that I have not pushed myself to my true potential. I did not get the grades that I wanted just because I believed
it was "too difficult". Advanced Placement Physics was a big challenge for me, in the beginning I didn't take it seriously. Then before school
ended, I finally realized that I had to stop acting immature and figured out what I had to do. I actually started asking for help and was attending
Cardinal Wings after school. I tried my best to pass the class and eventually, I did! I passed the class and a big weight was lifted off my shoulders. I
learned that life would be much easier if I just did my work and not stress about it.
My future plan after high school is to attend a four year college and get a Bachelors in Law. After I graduate from college I will enroll in a Law school
and take all the necessary courses and tests to graduate from there as well! It will take at least a total of about another nine or so years to complete
in order to become a Lawyer but with a lot of time and effort I will do it! These last four years have fully prepared me to take on any task that steps in
my way with confidence.

Essay on The Great Schism
The Great Schism
During the late 14th century and the early 15th century there was a great division in the Catholic Church. The Papacy was becoming blurred. The
center of the Roman Catholic Church had been moved from Rome to the city of Avignon during the reign of Pope Clement V; and there was now a
movement to return the center of power back to Rome. This movement was first truly seen under Pope Gregory XI and his successor Pope Urban VI.
Earlier Pope Urban V had moved the center to Rome but it had been proven to be no more than a temporary idea; he had gone back to Avignon to die
and there his replacement, Pope Gregory XI was elected . This along with other political problems and circumstances created a split in the loyalty

Pope Clement VII was also the cousin of the French king, which insured that the church would be under French influence. The cardinals insisted
that they had to elect a new pope, Pope Clement VII, because the election of Pope Urban VI was not valid. They were coerced into electing the
Roman pope for fear of their lives; a mob of Italians outside of the conclave that elected Pope Urban VI had threatened to massacre the cardinals if a
foreigner was chosen as the replacement for Gregory XI.
None the less the Papacy was now divide. The saying "United we stand, while divided we fall." is very valid in this instance. The church is having
many problems around this time period and many people are converting, or shale we say shifting, to other forms or Christianity. Whereas before these
problems occurred the church was the central power in Western Europe and had great influence over the governments in their sphere of power. This
event, the schism, caused a split in the Catholic Church and divided countries among the two popes. "Everyone realized that the schism resulting from
the counter–election of Cardinal Robert of Geneva as Pope Clement VII . . . was a tragedy for the church . . ."
England, the Holy Roman Empire, Hungary Roman Empire, Bohemia, and Poland supported Pope Urban VI. While Pope Clement VII had gained
support from France, Napales, Scotland, Castile, and Aragon. This

Gregory The Great Accomplishments
For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great's papacy to Boniface VIII's papacy, the world experienced many influential
popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which
brought prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death. Throughout the given time period, Pope Nicholas
II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered
for.
First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a
group of Roman Church officials who were in charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The
declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of independence from political structure. This
meant that the Roman Church officials did not have to seek the approval of the King before electing a new pope, while preventing kings from electing
puppets, to do the bidding of the King. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and selling of church offices, which was in direct confrontation with the College of Cardinals, a council that he helped to establish. Overall, Gregory's
accomplishments include the affirming the papal primacy and the attempt to destroy the practice of

Christianity In The Early Middle Ages Essay
Christianity in Europe during the Medieval Period encountered many hindrances such as corruption, sex, the Avignon Captivity, and the Great Schism.
However, even though the church encountered many controversies which eventually undermined the foundation of the church, monastic revival
reformed the church and ultimately restored the original beliefs.
Corruption was present in many forms within the church during the medieval period. Many clergy members were landowners in late medieval
Christianity and if they were not, the church would count on the nobles to share their profits from their peasants work. (Christian History, 2015) It
was also familiar for members of clergy to buy their positions in order to obtain power and wealth. Priests were also known for visiting taverns,
gambling, and having orgies with quarrels and blasphemy. (Arnold, 1999)
From the Early Middle Ages, through the reign of Charlemagne, the church accentuated the importance of clerical celibacy, however by Carolingian
times, it became apparent that clerical celibacy would be impossible to enforce. The church disclosed that not all ... Show more content on

(Spielvogel, 285) The members of these orders were acknowledged for adopting lives of complete poverty in retaliation to the growing wealth of

of simplicity and poverty were effective in spreading the spiritual revival across Europe. The Dominicans, established by Dominic de Guzman, who
believed that a religious order of men who lived lives of poverty but were able to preach effectively would be able to attack heresy, as a result, many of

Mkt 421 Week 2 Assignment

  • 1. Mkt 421 Week 2 Assignment I selected the Louisville Cardinals' to discus this week for my week two assignment. This was Louisville's fourth conference change since 1996.Louisville join the Conference U.S.A that year and was not welcome by its other conference colleagues, because the men's basketball team was on probation by the NCAA. The Louisville program was also apart of a 60 minutes investigation, their home football games were being played in a minor league baseball stadium and their school has some serious Title IX issues according to Murphy, B (2014, July 1). Despite all of the surrounding issues Louisville went on to become successful on the field and basketball courts, they join the Big East conference and made their brand very attractive. Although, Louisville's brand had become attractive, the conference they had joined was losing its appeal, due to conference realignments. The Big East lost the majority of its superb teams instantaneously. The major hit came to the Big East conference when what I consider the Big Seven in college basketball Georgetown, De Paul, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova left together, which became a major split in the conference in 2012 effective in 2013. Murphy, B. (2012,December 16) Yet, in 2012 The ACC conference was getting their tails kicked in BCS football play and on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whole conference realignments were mainly about business. Schools joining the most popular conferences to enhance their brand, so they could recruit better players. Yet, they win more games, and receive better T.V deals. The T.V exposure brings a lot more exposure to their Universities that will also benefit through student enrollment. If college sports were not a business, Louisville would have stayed right in the Big East and the ACC would have been content with their top football teams in their conference leaving and finding another ... • 2. The Batting Of Baseball Scouts We are baseball scouts and we just got to the high school to look at a player. He is on the home team and is a shortstop that we want to draft. His number is 71. He is batting cleanup (4th). He just came out to take batting practice. Now in the 1st inning, with 2 outs, he makes a diving stop to get the third out. End of the inning. He is up to bat in the bottom of the first inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out. Here comes the pitch... BOOM! That ball hit him right in the small of the back. He is down and he's not getting back up. It should be an easy out, but the ball bounces off his glove and scatters toward the center fielder. The next batter hits a pop–up to the first baseman. One out. Next up, the catcher. He hits a sharp bouncing ball to the 2nd baseman, who turns it into a 4–6–3 (second bacemen, to the shortstop, to the first baseman) double play. It is in the top 8th inning with runners on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, one out for the other team. The other team has their best hitter up. He hits a ball high and far to deep left center field, out number two. The runner on 3rd is tagging up, the left fielder gets the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Education System : A Comprehensive High School Program Currently in the U.S education system, I can only think of one policy/practice/program that is similar to the Cardinal Principles outline. In many high schools around the country there are CTE courses and teachers that students can participate in. CTE (Career and Technical Education) are taught in many areas that are found in the professional world from business management to technology to arts to legal studies. To be a certified teacher in any of these areas, one has to have a degree/certain amount of credits in that CTE topic or a set amount of years of real world professional experience working in that field. CTE courses and curriculum is very aligned to what the Cardinal Principals authors had in mind with the structure of a comprehensive high school. This high school utopia that allows students to venture in to many different areas outside of the core subjects was what the Cardinal Principals authors seemed to believe was the answer to stronger educational outcomes and members of society. Every high school does not offer CTE courses and teachers; there a number of reasons why. Very much like the Cardinal Principals understanding, every high school cannot provide a comprehensive curriculum that tailors to every type of interest. Funding and need definitely come in to play in this area. Additionally, looking at the last high school I was working at as an example, I do not believe that every population/SES group needs or desires this type of curriculum. The public high ... • 4. The Catholic Church In the history of the Catholic Church, there have been many Pontifical elections and even more Popes serving as the head of the Catholic Church. The Papal Conclave was introduced years after the Roman Catholic Church was established. The position of Pope is currently occupied by His Holiness Pope Francis–whose birth name is Jorge Bergoglio. Pope Francis assumed position in March 2013 after the resignation of his predecessor two weeks prior. Taking into the account the history of the Catholic Church, the Papal conclave is a relatively new concept. Before the conclave and the College of Cardinals, choosing a new Pope was and arbitrary process which changed with each new Papal appointment; "One account of an election in 236 noted that a dove settled on the head of Fabian, a Christian was not even mentioned among several candidates. Fabian was chosen because the dove was interpreted as a sign of the Holy Spirit's choice" (Bellitto 110). The origins of the conclave are traced back to 769 when it was declared that all Roman clerics could vote for a new Pope, but were limited to the cardinals as candidates (Bellitto 110). Even then, the election of a new Pope was an exciting, "public events witnessed by hundreds of ordinary people who would watch the voting a bit like one might a sporting event" (Simpson). Before the voting process begins, the position of the Pope, officially the Bishop of Rome, must be unoccupied, either because a serving pontiff has passed away or has retired. ... • 5. Female Priests And The Gender Inequality Within The... Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the "thorn in the side" of progressive ideas, movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent of the world's population and a half of all Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ("Catholic Desires for Change"). Catholicism is unique among Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure has remained almost unchanged since the time of the Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of the solar system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei's crimes of heresy, three centuries after the man's death (Cowell, 1992). As many western institutions begin to diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female participation in all positions of authority and significance. The Church's sedated progressivism has never been more egregious than in the rapidly changing society of the last half century, with the millennia old barriers of sexism rapidly ... • 6. Pope Paul Vi And John Paul II The third and longest chapter of the book dealt with how the documents have been received and implemented in the church over the last forty years. What appears to be evident is there was a lot of confusion in how and what needed to be done to implement the teachings of Vatican II. Gaillardetz quotes John Henry Newman at the beginning of the chapter, "it is uncommon that a Council not be followed by great confusion." Gaillardetz shows that the two major proponents for helping to understand the council documents were Pope Paul VI and John Paul II. There are several references to their writings as Pope that clarified misunderstandings or built upon the teachings in the documents. A key issue thatPope Paul VI built upon was the inclusion of the laity in the sensus fidei, in the discernment of church matters. Gaillardetz notes in the 1980s American bishops adopted a consultative process of listening to experts before drafting pastoral letters. "The bishops took seriously the assumption of both Vatican II and Paul VI that all God's people, and not only the hierarchy, must engage in the central processes of ecclesial discernment." Another implementation issue had to do with as noted in the book from Karl Rahner "Vatican II marked the beginning of the church's discovery and official realization of itself as world–Church." This led to a theology where the local church "not only received from the universal church but also offer to the church universal its own particular gifts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compared to the average in–state tuition cost for other Michigan universities, Saginaw Valley was found to have 51% cheaper tuition. The university is ranked as having the 11th cheapest college tuition in the state. SVSU also charges about $438 in additional fees, for both in–state and out–of–state students. The room and board is a little more expensive than tuition at SVSU however, due to the fact that SVSU dorms are ranked the best in Michigan. Comfort is key for students at Saginaw. The total price is estimated to be $9,185 per year. Off–campus students are also advised to budget $9,185 or more for rent, and all students are suggested to be prepared for between $1,000–3,000 additional living expenses, although that is not isolated to Saginaw students. • 9. Importance Of Catholic Education Essay Why Catholic Education is Important to Me Ever since I was little, I have felt that Catholic education has been the best fit for me. Catholic education is important to me because I am able to practice my faith and get an individualized education that will help prepare me for college and for real life. At school, praying and worshiping with my friends has always been natural to me, as we feel more like a family than just classmates. With a faith filled, family based education that teaches me not only academic lessons, but life lessons, I know I will be adequately prepared to give back, especially give back to the Giver of all life. Firstly, I feel that I have received a more personalized education, as Catholic schools typically have smaller class sizes than public schools. I am able to focus on my school work and my spiritual life without most of the extra distractions. By nurturing my academics, I am able to tend and be tended to by my teachers and my parents, who support me by teaching me not only school lessons, but also valuable life skills and morals. Another reason why Catholic education is important to me is that since I have always attended Catholic school, it has become like a second family me. During religion class, my friends and I frequently pray for each other and we ask others to pray for our personal needs as well. Some of my classmates and I are so close, we are like siblings rather than teenagers who go to school together. If I attended a public school, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Louis Anthony Research Paper Hi, I am Louis Anthony Giaquinto. I go by Louis or Anthony. My family and friends call me Anthony, but when I am being professional I am known by Louis. I expect to graduate in the summer of 2019 with two degrees in Film Production and Business Management. I plan on pursuing a life in the film industry, and with both degrees I will hone on both my business and artsy side. Arizona StateUniversity, ASU, has a stellar business program known as W. P. Carey, which is one of the reasons I chose ASU. It is highly rated, and the teachers care about their students' success. Why would I chose ASU for film, especially since there are prestigious film colleges like New York University, University of California Los Angeles, and University of Southern California? The answer is one word: money. Those schools cost around forty grand a semester for out of state students. ASU was feasible, and it had a good and upcoming film program. The film program is in its infancy at ASU. I speak primarily English, and a little bit of Spanish. I grew up in an English speak household; thus, I naturally learned English. In high school, I took three years of Spanish. My third year was an honors class, and I was a part of the National Spanish Honor Society. So far, my writing experience is short lived.... John D Rockefeller Transformational Leadership Examples Transformational leadership was defined by Mr. Burns as, "those who seek to change pre–existing thoughts, techniques, and goals for better results and the greater good." Transformational leaders practice working to change the political system, reforming past experiences from other leaders to devise a solution for a need, comprehending what needs to be changed for the greater good, and establishing an infrastructure that develops high quality and quantities of team members. Dissimilar to the transactional leadership style, transformational leadership uses motivation and empathy in order to develop an infrastructure of effective members to change the worldly issues. Transformational leadership is also known as the "selling" style of leadership due to its ability to influence people to do what the leader is asking of them. A prime example of a transformational leader is John D. Rockefeller, who is the founder of Standard Oil. What made Rockefeller's oil enterprise successful was his ability to empathize with other employees, and then set his and the entire workforce of the company's minds upon one simple vision. One of his most renowned quotes also describes his ability to carry out his transformational leadership lifestyle. Leonardo Vetria Research Paper When physicist Leonardo Vetra is found murdered with the word "Illuminati" branded onto his chest, Maximilian Kohler, the director of CERN (European Council for Nuclear Research), contacts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon for help. Kohler has Langdon flown to CERN. Langdon explains the role of the Illuminati–a secret society of artists, scientists, and freethinkers–as a long–standing enemy of the Catholic Church. While Langdon is explaining this, and learning more about Vetra's research, Vetra's adopted daughter, Vittoria, who is also a physicist, joins them. Vittoria and her father had created antimatter in a CERN lab. This was doubly important to her father because he was a priest, and the discovery promised to give humanity access to the secrets of creation. However, it is also a great threat because antimatter explodes when it comes into contact with normal matter. This becomes a pressing issue when they learn that their biggest sample has been stolen, and the battery that generates the magnetic field (and keeps the antimatter stable) has only a twenty–four–hour life span. It would appear that institutions charged with the responsibility of teaching young adults academic content and critical thinking skills have discovered that radical politics and indoctrination are much easier to do and equally profitable. Apparently, offering extra credit in college for taking part in social justice protests has become popular in some quarters. A set of silly Monte Python skits inspired this one–act play. The Python skits use two ersatz cardinals (Biggles and Fang), as well as the real historical figure, Cardinal Francisco XimГ©nez of Spain, who bridged the 15th and 16th centuries. It uses specious moral claims to justify robbing all people–no matter the race, gender, creed, or identity––of personal freedom in an effort to control what they do, feel, think, and believe. By offering simplistic ethical dictums, with a dash of moral arrogance, modern Secular Puritans have seduced many citizens, particularly Millennials, into believing that the exchange of a free society for a corrupt North Korean–style repression would eliminate racial, class, ethnic, religious, and even sexual dissatisfactions–perhaps even curing global warming in the ... One of the ways that was shown how education is power is by Deborah who lacked in education because she says, "when I go to the doctor for my checkups I always say my mother was Hela..." (Skloot 9). Deborah at a young age left school in the sixth grade to go help in the field but then she ended up going to school and barely finished high school. She hardly understood anything because she was practically deaf and had a difficult life at home. The only reason why she barely finished was because Bobbette, a very close family told her "I don't care what you do, but you get an education, cause that's your only hope" (Skloot 116). Second reason why she lacked in power was because she does not really know anything about her mother except that her mother was used in the science world. • 29. The Causes Of The Black Death European civilizations developed most of their foundations during the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth centuries. During this time, the Catholic Church reached its climax. By the fourteenth century however, a devastating number of catastrophes resulted in the destruction of medieval civilization. The Black Death, a devastating plague, was the most destructive natural disaster in European history. Following in its wake were numerous economic and social crises, including political unrest during the Hundred Years' War. TheCatholic Church also experienced its own crisis. All of these economic, social and political issues shook Europe to its core, but not enough to crumble its resilient foundation. At the beginning of the fourteenth century, Europe began to experience a change in weather patterns that shortened growing seasons that resulted in widespread famine and hunger. This in turn contributed to citizens having a higher susceptibility to disease due to malnourishment, especially evident when the Black Death struck Europe. The Black Death, an epidemic of the bubonic plague, swept through Europe in the mid–fourteenth century causing social, political and cultural turmoil. Genoese merchants brought the plague to Sicily, off the coast of Italy, which then made its way through commercial trade routes all the way into Spain and France (Spielvogel). • 33. Junior Year Research Paper High School has been a really crazy experience. The last four years have really gone by so quickly and it feels like it's only been a few days since I first entered Whittier. My biggest achievement was being able to play for the school's basketball team for three whole years. I am so proud to say that I have been part of the reason why the freshmen team got to be champions on my freshmen year and also champions on the Junior Varsity team for not only my Sophomore year, but also my Junior year! That is three whole years in a row! Being on the team has taught me that hard work and determination can get you what you want. I worked hard every practice and game to achieve what I strived for. I'm so grateful for having the chance to be on this journey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On my Junior year, I truly believe that I have not pushed myself to my true potential. I did not get the grades that I wanted just because I believed it was "too difficult". Advanced Placement Physics was a big challenge for me, in the beginning I didn't take it seriously. Then before school ended, I finally realized that I had to stop acting immature and figured out what I had to do. I actually started asking for help and was attending Cardinal Wings after school. I tried my best to pass the class and eventually, I did! I passed the class and a big weight was lifted off my shoulders. I learned that life would be much easier if I just did my work and not stress about it. My future plan after high school is to attend a four year college and get a Bachelors in Law. After I graduate from college I will enroll in a Law school and take all the necessary courses and tests to graduate from there as well! It will take at least a total of about another nine or so years to complete in order to become a Lawyer but with a lot of time and effort I will do it! These last four years have fully prepared me to take on any task that steps in my way with confidence. Thank you for taking the time to read my portfolio and judging my presentation! Have a nice ... • 39. Essay on The Great Schism The Great Schism During the late 14th century and the early 15th century there was a great division in the Catholic Church. The Papacy was becoming blurred. The center of the Roman Catholic Church had been moved from Rome to the city of Avignon during the reign of Pope Clement V; and there was now a movement to return the center of power back to Rome. This movement was first truly seen under Pope Gregory XI and his successor Pope Urban VI. Earlier Pope Urban V had moved the center to Rome but it had been proven to be no more than a temporary idea; he had gone back to Avignon to die and there his replacement, Pope Gregory XI was elected . Pope Clement VII was also the cousin of the French king, which insured that the church would be under French influence. The cardinals insisted that they had to elect a new pope, Pope Clement VII, because the election of Pope Urban VI was not valid. They were coerced into electing the Roman pope for fear of their lives; a mob of Italians outside of the conclave that elected Pope Urban VI had threatened to massacre the cardinals if a foreigner was chosen as the replacement for Gregory XI. The church is having many problems around this time period and many people are converting, or shale we say shifting, to other forms or Christianity. Whereas before these problems occurred the church was the central power in Western Europe and had great influence over the governments in their sphere of power. • 40. Gregory The Great Accomplishments For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great's papacy to Boniface VIII's papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which brought prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death. Throughout the given time period, Pope Nicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered for. First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were in charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of independence from political structure. This meant that the Roman Church officials did not have to seek the approval of the King before electing a new pope, while preventing kings from electing puppets, to do the bidding of the King. ... • 41. Christianity In The Early Middle Ages Essay Christianity in Europe during the Medieval Period encountered many hindrances such as corruption, sex, the Avignon Captivity, and the Great Schism. However, even though the church encountered many controversies which eventually undermined the foundation of the church, monastic revival reformed the church and ultimately restored the original beliefs. Corruption was present in many forms within the church during the medieval period. Many clergy members were landowners in late medieval Christianity and if they were not, the church would count on the nobles to share their profits from their peasants work. (Christian History, 2015) It was also familiar for members of clergy to buy their positions in order to obtain power and wealth. Priests were also known for visiting taverns, gambling, and having orgies with quarrels and blasphemy.
