B. SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES
2.SIMILARITIES:
A. PAVEMENTS
MAYUR PARK RISHABH DEV PARK
THE CHANNELS OF CIRCULATION PROVIDED IN BOTH THE PARKS ARE
OF APPROXIMATELY SAME WIDTH AND CUSTOMARILY MOVE ALONG IN
THE SAME CURVILINEAR FASHION WITHOUT ANY ABRUPT TURNS.
B. ENCLOSURE TYPE- RISHABH DEV PARK
The Rishabh Dev Park has enclosure by two local roads, bitthan
road abuts the site from the east and
Kolar road abuts it from the south and the rest of the park is
enclosed by the shahpura lake.
B. ENCLOSURE TYPE- MAYUR PARK
The Mayur Park has enclosure by one main road, the link road
which abuts most of it’s northern boundary and the other local road
from the east. South boundary is enclosed by servant quarters and
west by prakash Tarun pushkar.
C. LEVEL DIFFERENCE(CHANGE OF LEVEL)
MAYUR PARK RISHABH DEV PARK
BOTH PARKS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE ROAD LEVEL (PHYSICAL
ELEVATIONAL REFERENCE LEVEL FOR SITES), THAT IS APPROXIMATELY
45-60 CENTIMETERS
D. VISUAL ISOLATION FROM SURROUNDINGS
MAYUR PARK RISHABH DEV PARK
BOTH PARKS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE ROAD LEVEL (PHYSICAL
ELEVATIONAL REFERENCE LEVEL FOR SITES), THAT IS APPROXIMATELY
45-60 CENTIMETERS
2.DIFFERENCES:
A. VISTA
MAYUR PARK OFFERS ENCLOSED VISTA VIEW TO THE CUSTOMARY
OBSERVER DUE TO THE VOLUPTUOUS FLORA BLOCKING THE VIEW OF
THE NEARBY SURROUNDINGS AND REVERTING THE OBSERVER’S
FOCUS BACK TO THE MAIN NODE(INTENSIVE ACTIVITY AREA)
CREATING A SENSE OF INTERACTIVITY.
2.DIFFERENCES:
A. VISTA
RISHAB DEV PARK OFFERS AN INTENSIVE EXTROVERTED VISTA TO
THE CUSTOMARY OBSERVER AND ATTRACTS ATTENTION AWAY FROM
THE INTERACTIONS INTO THE SERENITY OF THE LAKE AS THE VIEW
OF THE NEARBY SURROUNDINGS AND FAR BEYOND THE LAKE ARE
CLEARLY VISIBLE CREATING A SENSE OF PROJECTED VIEW.
2.DIFFERENCES:
B. SENSE OF PLACE
DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF WATER BODY AND FOUNTAINS THE
FEELING ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOCATION IS MORE SPIRITUAL,
SERENE, CALM AND PEACEFUL.
2.DIFFERENCES:
B. SENSE OF PLACE
MAYUR PARK-ENCLOSED VISTA ENCOURAGES MORE OF A PLAYFUL,
INTERACTIVE SENSE AS THE OBSERVER IS NOT DISTRACTED FROM
ANY SCENIC VIEW, HENCE THE FEELING ASSOCIATED WITH THE
LOCATION IS OF EXCITEMENT AND BLISS.
2.DIFFERENCES:
C. PLAN DIFFERENCES
MAYUR PARK HAS A ROUGHLY RECTANGULAR PLAN, THEREFORE
OFFERS BETTER CIRCULATION AND IS BUILT ON A LARGE SCALE AS
VOLUPTUOUS ENVIRONMENT DOMINATES THE OBSERVER’S
ENVIRONMENT.
C. PLAN DIFFERENCES
RISHABH PARK HAS MORE OF A COMPACT, LINEAR PLAN. IT HAS MORE
OF A PEDESTRIAN-ORIENTED DESIGN. AS, THE OBSERVER MOVES TO
EXPLORE THE UNSEEN PART OF THE PARK. IT IS BUILT AT HUMAN
SCALE WITH NO OVERLY-VOLUPTUOUS FLORA TO DOMINATE HUMAN
PRESENCE.
D. PLANTSCAPE AND RHYTHM
MAYUR PARK HAS MORE PLANT VARIETY AND RHYTHMIC PATTERN
ALMOST THROUGHOUT THE PATHWAY. THE OBSERVER EYES ALWAYS
CATCH A GLIMPSE OF A PICTURESQUE CLUSTER OF RHYTHMIC
PATTERN OF PLANTATION AT FROM EVERY POINT OF THE PARK.
D. PLANTSCAPE AND RHYTHM
REPETITIVE PATTERN AND RHYTHM CAN BE OBSERVED IN RISHABH
PARK. THE PLANTATION CAN BE MONOTONOUS AT SOME AREAS OF
THE PARK WITH SIMILAR PATTERNS AND TALLER SHRUBS BLOCK THE
VIEW OF THE VISTA FROM AROUND THE PARK.
E.ACCESSIBILTY AND PARKING
RISHABH PARK HAS A DOWN SLOPED ENTRY INTO IT AND IS
ACCESSIBLE ONLY AFTER A U-TURN AND A TRAFFIC LIGHT. NO SPACE
HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR SAFE PARKING OF VEHICLES JUST AN
ABRUPT ENTRY.
E.ACCESSIBILTY AND PARKING
ENTRANCE INTO THE PARK STARTS AFTER A 40 MTS SETBACK FOR
COMFORTABLE PARKING OF ATLEAST 20 MEDIUM-SIZED VEHICLES.
STAIRS ARE PLACED FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER FOR EASE OF
ENTRANCE FOR CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY AND THE PATIENTS OF
NEARBY HOSPITALS.
PARKING OF 40 MTS.
ENTRANCE
B.URBAN DESIGN VALUES & PRINCIPLES
INHERENT IN THE PARKS
• PLATFORM FOR PUBLIC INTERACTIONS:
RISHABH DEV PARK AND MAYUR PARK ARE SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC
PLACES FOR SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND INTERACTIONS. THE
LOCATION OF RISHABH PARK MAKES IT A RARE, UNIQUE WORK OF
SCENIC BEAUTY, HENCE ATTRACTS THE PUBLIC WHILE MAYUR
PARK HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING IN THE HEART OF THE URBAN
AREA AND A LARGE SCALE PUBLIC PLACE AS WELL.
• LANDSCAPE AS BUILT INFRASTRUCTURE:
BOTH THE PARKS HAVE NECESSARY STREETSCAPE, STREET
FURNITURE, SUBDIVISION PLAN ALONG WITH THE TRADITIONAL
LANDSCAPE WHICH AFFECT THE PUBLIC REALM IN A POSITIVE WAY
DISPLAYING THE URBAN DESIGN VALUE OF BEING A GREEN
INFRASTRUCTURE.
WHILE MAYUR PARK PROVIDES A SAFE, ATTRACTIVE PUBLIC REALM
WHICH SERVES AS A WELL- DEVELOPED, POLLUTION FREE
PEDESTRIAN-ORIENTED AREA.
WHEREAS RISHABH PARK IMPARTS REMARKABLE BEAUTY TO THE
CITYSCAPE IN CONTRAST TO LARGE CONCRETE JUNGLES IN THE
KOLAR REGION, ADDS A SPIRITUAL DIMENSION TO THE LIFE OF THE
PUBLIC RESIDING NEARBY.
• COMMUNITY SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL STRENGTH:
IT PROVIDES AN INTERACTING PLATFORM FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC
INCLUDING THE ELDERLY AND THE CHILDREN, HENCE PROMOTING
SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND EMOTIONAL OUTLET FOR THE ELDERLY BY
ALWAYS PUMPING ENERGY AND FRESHNESS TO THE HEALTH OF THE
CITY.
• YOUTH HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT:
THE YOUTH IS ENCOURAGED TO PLAY SPORTS AND GET INVOLVED IN
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS WALKING, HENCE PROMOTING
PHYSICAL HEALTH BY DISCOURAGING SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE.
• ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE:
BOTH PARKS COME UNDER BUFFER ZONE IN THE BHOPAL MASTER
PLAN BECAUSE THE FLORA NEAR THE MOST BUSY ROAD IS OF
UTMOST IMPORTANCE AND VALUE, AS THEY BOTH REDUCE THE
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF VEHICULAR EMISSIONS BECAUSE OF
THEIR STRATEGIC PLACEMENT NEAR BUSY JUNCTION ROADS AND
DESIGN.
• Density, diversity and mix :Creating resiliency and reducing the carbon
footprint of urban development and maximizes the active use of space and
land.
• Pedestrians are prioritized: These parks prioritize walking as the preferred
mode of travel, as it is a defining component of a healthy quality of life.
• Transit-oriented Reduce car-dependency and encourage the alternative
modes of transportation – namely walking, cycling, and transit – result in
more sustainable urban environments, and in an improved quality of life.
Urban neighbourhoods develop in a way that is transit supportive.
• Place-making : They create a strong sense of belonging or identity which are
integral to community life and the public realm.
• Both the parks also conserve and enhance the health of natural systems
(including climate) and areas of environmental significance, and manage the
impacts of climate change.
B.URBAN DESIGN PRINCIPLES INHERENT IN THE
PARKS:
• These parks enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of their
technical and industrial systems and processes, including their
manufacturing, transportation, communications and construction
infrastructure and systems to increase their energy efficiency, and
reduce their environmental footprint of industries like bhel.
B.URBAN DESIGN PRINCIPLES INHERENT IN THE
PARKS:
• MAYUR PARK IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT HAS SLOPE IN IT’S
PERIPHERY AND FLAT GROUND IN THE CENTRE FOCAL POINT WHICH
ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO SIT ON THE GROUND RATHER THAN ON
BENCHES, INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT CHAIRS ARE PROVIDED
AROUND THIS CENTRAL AREA AND FOCAL POINT IS THE FLAT MAIN
NODAL GROUND.
• EFFECT : CHILDREN PLAY IN THE CENTRAL AREA WHILE THE PEOPLE
WATCH THEM SEATED ON THE ELEVATED SLOPES, EXACTLY LIKE A
STADIUM FUNCTIONS. THE THEME OF THE PARK IS NATURAL STADIUM.
C. HOW DO URBAN DESIGN AND FORM AFFECT THE
WAY PEOPLE USE THEIR PLACES?
• RISHAB DEV PARK IS DESIGNED IN SMALL SECTIONS SCATTERED
LONGITUDINALLY ALONG THE KOLAR ROAD SUCH THAT THE
INTERVISIBILITY OF ALL THE SECTIONS FROM ONE POINT IS NOT
POSSIBLE,
• EFFECT : IT PRODUCES PRODUCES STRIKING VISTA VIEWS,
ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO EXPLORE UNSEEN PART OF THE PARK AND
PRODUCES PRIVACY FOR SOME PEOPLE WHO PREFER ISOLATION AND
PEACE UNLIKE MAYUR PARK WHERE PRIVACY IS NOT POSSIBLE AT
RUSH HOURS. THEREFORE, RISHABH PARK PROVIDES BETTER
ISOLATED LEISURE TIME.
• MAYUR PARK : THE LOCATION OF DIFFERENT SERVICES AND
TRANSPORTATION ROUTES AND STOPS, PRESENCE OF RESTAURANT,
SWIMMING POOL, GYMNASIUM AND J.P. HOSPITAL MAKES THE PARK A
HOTSPOT FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, INTERACTIVE GATHERINGS.
• RISHAB DEV PARK : THE PARK PROVIDES AN ESCAPE FROM THE REAL
WORLD, OR ATLEAST THE CONCRETE JUNGLE OF THE KOLAR
RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL COMPLEXES IN TO THE PRESENCE OF
SERENCE WATER BODY IN THEIR IMMEDIATE VICINITY, “SHAHPURA
LAKE”
• IT IS THESE FACTORS THAT MAKE SUCCESSFUL NURTURES OF PUBLIC
REALM, IMPROVE CITYSCAPE AND HENCE, THE OVERALL APPEAL OF
THE CITY.
D. NON-DESIGN FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE
USE OF THESE PARKS
ALTHOUGH BOTH PARKS HAD THEIR OWN PROS AND CONS BUT KEEPING
IN MIND THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR, THAT IS, SAFETY AND
CLEANLINESS, WE LIKED MAYUR PARK MORE DUE TO THE FOLLOWING
REASONS:
• BETTER DESIGN AND INTERACTION SPACE, INCLUDING THE
FUNCTIONAL SPACES SUCH AS CURVILINEAR PATHS, SMOOTH,
TENDER SLOPES, ENCLOSED VISTA GAVE A MORE SECURED FEELING
FOR PUBLIC WITH THEIR OFFSPRINGS, RATHER THAN NEAR A LAKE.
• BETTER TRANSIT AND LOCATION OF THE PARK, WITH BETTER PARKING
FACILITIES, MORE SPACE TO ENJOY AND RELATIVELY LARGE
SETBACKS TO CUT-OFF TRAFFIC SOUNDS (ACOUSTICALLY BETTER
THAN RISHAB DEV PARK, DUE TO A VARIETY OF PLANT SPECIES USED
IN PLANTATION, FOR EXAMPLE : - INDIAN ROSEWOOD, SNAKE PLANT
ETC.)
E. WHICH OF THE TWO WE LIKED BETTER AND
WHY?
• RISHAB DEV PARK IS NOT PLEASANT ENOUGH DESPITE THE
PRESENCE OF THE LAKE DUE TO POOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL
PRACTICES, SOME SECTIONS OF THE PARK REEKS OF BAD SMELL AND
UNHYGIENIC WASTE DISPOSAL.
• IT IS THIS CONTAMINATION OF THE LAKE WATER WITH GARBAGE THAT
PUTS ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE PARK’S ENVIRONMENT AND HENCE
ON THE LOCAL CLIMATE AND CLEANLINESS.
THANK YOU

  • 17. B. ENCLOSURE TYPE- RISHABH DEV PARK The Rishabh Dev Park has enclosure by two local roads, bitthan road abuts the site from the east and Kolar road abuts it from the south and the rest of the park is enclosed by the shahpura lake.
  • 18. B. ENCLOSURE TYPE- MAYUR PARK The Mayur Park has enclosure by one main road, the link road which abuts most of it’s northern boundary and the other local road from the east. South boundary is enclosed by servant quarters and west by prakash Tarun pushkar.
  • 19. C. LEVEL DIFFERENCE(CHANGE OF LEVEL) MAYUR PARK RISHABH DEV PARK BOTH PARKS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE ROAD LEVEL (PHYSICAL ELEVATIONAL REFERENCE LEVEL FOR SITES), THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 45-60 CENTIMETERS
  • 20. D. VISUAL ISOLATION FROM SURROUNDINGS MAYUR PARK RISHABH DEV PARK BOTH PARKS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW THE ROAD LEVEL (PHYSICAL ELEVATIONAL REFERENCE LEVEL FOR SITES), THAT IS APPROXIMATELY 45-60 CENTIMETERS
  • 21. 2.DIFFERENCES: A. VISTA MAYUR PARK OFFERS ENCLOSED VISTA VIEW TO THE CUSTOMARY OBSERVER DUE TO THE VOLUPTUOUS FLORA BLOCKING THE VIEW OF THE NEARBY SURROUNDINGS AND REVERTING THE OBSERVER’S FOCUS BACK TO THE MAIN NODE(INTENSIVE ACTIVITY AREA) CREATING A SENSE OF INTERACTIVITY.
  • 22. 2.DIFFERENCES: A. VISTA RISHAB DEV PARK OFFERS AN INTENSIVE EXTROVERTED VISTA TO THE CUSTOMARY OBSERVER AND ATTRACTS ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE INTERACTIONS INTO THE SERENITY OF THE LAKE AS THE VIEW OF THE NEARBY SURROUNDINGS AND FAR BEYOND THE LAKE ARE CLEARLY VISIBLE CREATING A SENSE OF PROJECTED VIEW.
  • 23. 2.DIFFERENCES: B. SENSE OF PLACE DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF WATER BODY AND FOUNTAINS THE FEELING ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOCATION IS MORE SPIRITUAL, SERENE, CALM AND PEACEFUL.
  • 24. 2.DIFFERENCES: B. SENSE OF PLACE MAYUR PARK-ENCLOSED VISTA ENCOURAGES MORE OF A PLAYFUL, INTERACTIVE SENSE AS THE OBSERVER IS NOT DISTRACTED FROM ANY SCENIC VIEW, HENCE THE FEELING ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOCATION IS OF EXCITEMENT AND BLISS.
  • 25. 2.DIFFERENCES: C. PLAN DIFFERENCES MAYUR PARK HAS A ROUGHLY RECTANGULAR PLAN, THEREFORE OFFERS BETTER CIRCULATION AND IS BUILT ON A LARGE SCALE AS VOLUPTUOUS ENVIRONMENT DOMINATES THE OBSERVER’S ENVIRONMENT.
  • 26. C. PLAN DIFFERENCES RISHABH PARK HAS MORE OF A COMPACT, LINEAR PLAN. IT HAS MORE OF A PEDESTRIAN-ORIENTED DESIGN. AS, THE OBSERVER MOVES TO EXPLORE THE UNSEEN PART OF THE PARK. IT IS BUILT AT HUMAN SCALE WITH NO OVERLY-VOLUPTUOUS FLORA TO DOMINATE HUMAN PRESENCE.
  • 27. D. PLANTSCAPE AND RHYTHM MAYUR PARK HAS MORE PLANT VARIETY AND RHYTHMIC PATTERN ALMOST THROUGHOUT THE PATHWAY. THE OBSERVER EYES ALWAYS CATCH A GLIMPSE OF A PICTURESQUE CLUSTER OF RHYTHMIC PATTERN OF PLANTATION AT FROM EVERY POINT OF THE PARK.
  • 28. D. PLANTSCAPE AND RHYTHM REPETITIVE PATTERN AND RHYTHM CAN BE OBSERVED IN RISHABH PARK. THE PLANTATION CAN BE MONOTONOUS AT SOME AREAS OF THE PARK WITH SIMILAR PATTERNS AND TALLER SHRUBS BLOCK THE VIEW OF THE VISTA FROM AROUND THE PARK.
  • 29. E.ACCESSIBILTY AND PARKING RISHABH PARK HAS A DOWN SLOPED ENTRY INTO IT AND IS ACCESSIBLE ONLY AFTER A U-TURN AND A TRAFFIC LIGHT. NO SPACE HAS BEEN PROVIDED FOR SAFE PARKING OF VEHICLES JUST AN ABRUPT ENTRY.
  • 30. E.ACCESSIBILTY AND PARKING ENTRANCE INTO THE PARK STARTS AFTER A 40 MTS SETBACK FOR COMFORTABLE PARKING OF ATLEAST 20 MEDIUM-SIZED VEHICLES. STAIRS ARE PLACED FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER FOR EASE OF ENTRANCE FOR CHILDREN, THE ELDERLY AND THE PATIENTS OF NEARBY HOSPITALS. PARKING OF 40 MTS. ENTRANCE
  • 31. B.URBAN DESIGN VALUES & PRINCIPLES INHERENT IN THE PARKS • PLATFORM FOR PUBLIC INTERACTIONS: RISHABH DEV PARK AND MAYUR PARK ARE SUCCESSFUL PUBLIC PLACES FOR SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND INTERACTIONS. THE LOCATION OF RISHABH PARK MAKES IT A RARE, UNIQUE WORK OF SCENIC BEAUTY, HENCE ATTRACTS THE PUBLIC WHILE MAYUR PARK HAS THE ADVANTAGE OF BEING IN THE HEART OF THE URBAN AREA AND A LARGE SCALE PUBLIC PLACE AS WELL.
  • 32. • LANDSCAPE AS BUILT INFRASTRUCTURE: BOTH THE PARKS HAVE NECESSARY STREETSCAPE, STREET FURNITURE, SUBDIVISION PLAN ALONG WITH THE TRADITIONAL LANDSCAPE WHICH AFFECT THE PUBLIC REALM IN A POSITIVE WAY DISPLAYING THE URBAN DESIGN VALUE OF BEING A GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE. WHILE MAYUR PARK PROVIDES A SAFE, ATTRACTIVE PUBLIC REALM WHICH SERVES AS A WELL- DEVELOPED, POLLUTION FREE PEDESTRIAN-ORIENTED AREA. WHEREAS RISHABH PARK IMPARTS REMARKABLE BEAUTY TO THE CITYSCAPE IN CONTRAST TO LARGE CONCRETE JUNGLES IN THE KOLAR REGION, ADDS A SPIRITUAL DIMENSION TO THE LIFE OF THE PUBLIC RESIDING NEARBY. • COMMUNITY SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL STRENGTH: IT PROVIDES AN INTERACTING PLATFORM FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC INCLUDING THE ELDERLY AND THE CHILDREN, HENCE PROMOTING SOCIAL GATHERINGS AND EMOTIONAL OUTLET FOR THE ELDERLY BY ALWAYS PUMPING ENERGY AND FRESHNESS TO THE HEALTH OF THE CITY.
  • 33. • YOUTH HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT: THE YOUTH IS ENCOURAGED TO PLAY SPORTS AND GET INVOLVED IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS WALKING, HENCE PROMOTING PHYSICAL HEALTH BY DISCOURAGING SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE. • ENVIRONMENTAL VALUE: BOTH PARKS COME UNDER BUFFER ZONE IN THE BHOPAL MASTER PLAN BECAUSE THE FLORA NEAR THE MOST BUSY ROAD IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE AND VALUE, AS THEY BOTH REDUCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF VEHICULAR EMISSIONS BECAUSE OF THEIR STRATEGIC PLACEMENT NEAR BUSY JUNCTION ROADS AND DESIGN.
  • 34. • Density, diversity and mix :Creating resiliency and reducing the carbon footprint of urban development and maximizes the active use of space and land. • Pedestrians are prioritized: These parks prioritize walking as the preferred mode of travel, as it is a defining component of a healthy quality of life. • Transit-oriented Reduce car-dependency and encourage the alternative modes of transportation – namely walking, cycling, and transit – result in more sustainable urban environments, and in an improved quality of life. Urban neighbourhoods develop in a way that is transit supportive. • Place-making : They create a strong sense of belonging or identity which are integral to community life and the public realm. • Both the parks also conserve and enhance the health of natural systems (including climate) and areas of environmental significance, and manage the impacts of climate change. B.URBAN DESIGN PRINCIPLES INHERENT IN THE PARKS:
  • 35. • These parks enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of their technical and industrial systems and processes, including their manufacturing, transportation, communications and construction infrastructure and systems to increase their energy efficiency, and reduce their environmental footprint of industries like bhel. B.URBAN DESIGN PRINCIPLES INHERENT IN THE PARKS:
  • 36. • MAYUR PARK IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT HAS SLOPE IN IT’S PERIPHERY AND FLAT GROUND IN THE CENTRE FOCAL POINT WHICH ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO SIT ON THE GROUND RATHER THAN ON BENCHES, INSPITE OF THE FACT THAT CHAIRS ARE PROVIDED AROUND THIS CENTRAL AREA AND FOCAL POINT IS THE FLAT MAIN NODAL GROUND. • EFFECT : CHILDREN PLAY IN THE CENTRAL AREA WHILE THE PEOPLE WATCH THEM SEATED ON THE ELEVATED SLOPES, EXACTLY LIKE A STADIUM FUNCTIONS. THE THEME OF THE PARK IS NATURAL STADIUM. C. HOW DO URBAN DESIGN AND FORM AFFECT THE WAY PEOPLE USE THEIR PLACES?
  • 37. • RISHAB DEV PARK IS DESIGNED IN SMALL SECTIONS SCATTERED LONGITUDINALLY ALONG THE KOLAR ROAD SUCH THAT THE INTERVISIBILITY OF ALL THE SECTIONS FROM ONE POINT IS NOT POSSIBLE, • EFFECT : IT PRODUCES PRODUCES STRIKING VISTA VIEWS, ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO EXPLORE UNSEEN PART OF THE PARK AND PRODUCES PRIVACY FOR SOME PEOPLE WHO PREFER ISOLATION AND PEACE UNLIKE MAYUR PARK WHERE PRIVACY IS NOT POSSIBLE AT RUSH HOURS. THEREFORE, RISHABH PARK PROVIDES BETTER ISOLATED LEISURE TIME.
  • 38. • MAYUR PARK : THE LOCATION OF DIFFERENT SERVICES AND TRANSPORTATION ROUTES AND STOPS, PRESENCE OF RESTAURANT, SWIMMING POOL, GYMNASIUM AND J.P. HOSPITAL MAKES THE PARK A HOTSPOT FOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, INTERACTIVE GATHERINGS. • RISHAB DEV PARK : THE PARK PROVIDES AN ESCAPE FROM THE REAL WORLD, OR ATLEAST THE CONCRETE JUNGLE OF THE KOLAR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL COMPLEXES IN TO THE PRESENCE OF SERENCE WATER BODY IN THEIR IMMEDIATE VICINITY, “SHAHPURA LAKE” • IT IS THESE FACTORS THAT MAKE SUCCESSFUL NURTURES OF PUBLIC REALM, IMPROVE CITYSCAPE AND HENCE, THE OVERALL APPEAL OF THE CITY. D. NON-DESIGN FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE USE OF THESE PARKS
  • 39. ALTHOUGH BOTH PARKS HAD THEIR OWN PROS AND CONS BUT KEEPING IN MIND THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR, THAT IS, SAFETY AND CLEANLINESS, WE LIKED MAYUR PARK MORE DUE TO THE FOLLOWING REASONS: • BETTER DESIGN AND INTERACTION SPACE, INCLUDING THE FUNCTIONAL SPACES SUCH AS CURVILINEAR PATHS, SMOOTH, TENDER SLOPES, ENCLOSED VISTA GAVE A MORE SECURED FEELING FOR PUBLIC WITH THEIR OFFSPRINGS, RATHER THAN NEAR A LAKE. • BETTER TRANSIT AND LOCATION OF THE PARK, WITH BETTER PARKING FACILITIES, MORE SPACE TO ENJOY AND RELATIVELY LARGE SETBACKS TO CUT-OFF TRAFFIC SOUNDS (ACOUSTICALLY BETTER THAN RISHAB DEV PARK, DUE TO A VARIETY OF PLANT SPECIES USED IN PLANTATION, FOR EXAMPLE : - INDIAN ROSEWOOD, SNAKE PLANT ETC.) E. WHICH OF THE TWO WE LIKED BETTER AND WHY?
  • 40. • RISHAB DEV PARK IS NOT PLEASANT ENOUGH DESPITE THE PRESENCE OF THE LAKE DUE TO POOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL PRACTICES, SOME SECTIONS OF THE PARK REEKS OF BAD SMELL AND UNHYGIENIC WASTE DISPOSAL. • IT IS THIS CONTAMINATION OF THE LAKE WATER WITH GARBAGE THAT PUTS ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE PARK’S ENVIRONMENT AND HENCE ON THE LOCAL CLIMATE AND CLEANLINESS.
