2. Step 1: Set and Prioritize
Goals
What are the objectives of the project ?
What, exactly, do you need to create/produce?
Write out your goals in your project plan so it's clearly communicated and
easily shared.
TIP: Make sure all team members have a clear vision of the project and
that it meets all requirements.
3. Step 2: Define Deliverables and
Due Dates
Identify the deliverables (products) you need to produce in
order to meet the project's goals. What are the specific
products you're expected to complete?
Next, estimate due dates for each deliverable.
Tip: Set firm milestones for essential deadlines and
deliverables. You'll be able to track your progress once work
begins to ensure you complete key tasks on time (and keep
stakeholders happy).
4. Step 3: Create Detailed
Project Schedule
What series of tasks need to be completed
to accomplish each deliverable?
What resources/supplies are needed to
accomplish each task?
Who is responsible for completing each
task?
When is due date for each task?
Tip: Share the work load equally with every member of the team so that each
member has a specific task(s) to complete.
5. Step 4: Risk Assessment and
Management Plan
What could get in the way of your team completing the project?
What steps can you take now to minimize these risks?
Tip: What tools can you use to improve communication with your team (GroupMe,
online planning tool, document sharing, etc.)?
6. Step 5: Resource Allocation
What materials do you need?
What’s your budget?
How and when will you procure materials?
How much time do you have?
7. Step 6:
Communication Plan
How will you communicate project plan to all
stakeholders?
How will you monitor and communicate progress
throughout the project?
8. Step 7: Execute Plan
Work your plan!
Work together as a team.
Use time wisely.
9. Step 7: Monitor
Monitor timelines and progress.
Communicate progress along the way.
Identify and correct problems
encountered during project execution.
10. Step 8: Close the
Project
Turn in project deliverables on or before
due date.
Reflect on process and end product:
How well did your team plan, execute,
and monitor?
What lessons have you and your team
learned?
What recommendations would you
make for future improvement?
