1. How does your media
product represent particular
social groups?
Question 2
2. My magazine reflects my target audience and social groups as I believe it reflects 18-
25 year olds in their friendship groups. When deciding this target audience I took into
account the age group that would read a magazine like Q, which I followed when
making my designs. The featuring band group represents a sophisticated, yet young
girl band who are all really good friends. This would appeal to my target audience as
being in a close social group is something they can relate to. I chose to carry on the
sophisticated look and feel that Q have managed to create by making my models
appear to be professional, fashionable and sophisticated. This suits my target
audience as young adults would want to see themselves in this way. Other band
groups that Q have followed include Oasis, Kings of Leon and solo artists like Cheryl
Cole and Adele. This helped my to decide my target audience as my magazine aims for
the young adult age groups of perhaps 18-25 year olds who are more mature than
young teenagers and can engage in more in depth interviews and sophisticate
magazine designs. The social groups I hope to represent are young, sophisticated yet
interesting males and females who enjoy socialising and music who appreciate good
and classic designs. The price is something I also wanted to appeal and be acceptable
by the young 18-25 year olds as it needed to be affordable yet maintain the quality
and worth that I have tried to create. By making it £2.90, it is affordable for the
younger generation however still holds the quality and worth of BEAT.
