    THINKING
"A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes."
                                                          - Mahatma Gandhi

mnRAJU
How are you?

Terrible. Useless. Confused. Dead.
Betrayed. On the verge of death.
About to break down. About to die.
      I’m good.
Broken. Crushed. Lost. Empty.
Dying. Defeated. Bitter. Lonely.
Rejected. Dejected. Frustrated.
Destroyed. Awful. Cheated. Alone.
Not good enough. In the gutter. Lost.

What is Positive Thinking?

           Training one’s mind
 to become aware of its
            thoughts
            to anticipate happiness,
            health, success in all
            circumstances
            to voluntarily admit
            thoughts, words,
            images conducive to
            positive results
            to use circumstances
            that will positively
            impact life mnRAJU
What is Positive Thinking?
A young lady looked in the mirror one morning. She
had three remaining hairs on her head, and being a
positive soul, she said, "I think I'll braid my hair
today.“ So she braided her three hairs, and she had
         a great day.
Some days later, looking in the mirror one morning,
she saw that she had only two hairs remaining.
"Hmm, two hairs... I fancy a centre parting today."
She duly parted her two hairs, and as ever, she had
         a great day.
A week or so later, she saw that she had just one
hair left on her head. "One hair huh...," she mused,
"I know a pony-tail will be perfect." And again she
         had a great day.
The next morning she looked in the mirror. She was
completely bald. “ Finally bald huh," she said to
herself, "How wonderful! I won't have to waste
time doing my hair any more.” It is important for us
         to always think positive. mnRAJU
We are what we think!

 As a man thinks in his
heart, so is he. - Proverbs
    23:7

 The mind is its own place,
and in itself can make a
heaven of hell, a hell of
    heaven. - John Milton

Can it be Cultivated?

 Cross your arms as you normally would.
 Look down to see which one is on top.
 Cross your arms again with the other
 arm on top.
 Is it difficult? It is.
 Habits - good or bad - are difficult to
 break.

Excellence is not an act...it's a habit.” -

She had three remaining hairs on her head, and being a positive soul, she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today.“ So she braided her three hairs, and she had a great day. Some days later, looking in the mirror one morning, she saw that she had only two hairs remaining. "Hmm, two hairs... I fancy a centre parting today." She duly parted her two hairs, and as ever, she had a great day. A week or so later, she saw that she had just one hair left on her head. "One hair huh...," she mused, "I know a pony-tail will be perfect." And again she had a great day. The next morning she looked in the mirror. She was completely bald. “ Finally bald huh," she said to herself, "How wonderful! I won't have to waste time doing my hair any more.” It is important for us to always think positive. mnRAJU

Editor's Notes

  1. Positive attitude manifests in the following ways: Positive thinking, constructive thinking., creative thinking, expecting success, optimism, motivation to accomplish your goals, being inspired, choosing happiness, not giving up, looking at failure and problems as blessings in disguise, believing in yourself and in your abilities, displaying self-esteem and confidence, looking for solutions, seeing opportunities.
  2. The benefits of a positive thinking: helps achieving goals and attaining success, success achieved faster and more easily, more happiness, more energy, greater inner power and strength, the ability to inspire and motivate yourself and others, fewer difficulties encountered along the way, the ability to surmount any difficulty, life smiles at you, people respect you.
  3. Attitude decides altitude.
  4. What is Optimism? Optimism is “an inclination to anticipate the best possible outcome. Ornstein & Sobel: Optimism is “the tendency to seek out, remember, and expect pleasurable experiences. It is an active priority of the person, not merely a reflex that prompts us to ‘look on the sunny side.’ Optimists live longer and they probably enjoy better health along the way as well. As one door closes, another one opens
  5. There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, "If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country." And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn't sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy.  The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn't find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn't find any.  When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.  Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He thought it would look good on the mantle piece. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room. That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, "Is Hafiz back?" The new owner said, "No, why do you ask?" The wise man said, "Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one." The man said, no, that's just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I'll show you. There are many more." They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds.
  6. Gives credit to others Smiles Says thank you Listens without being judgmental Absorbs negative behavior with tolerance Discuss the responses to establish that positive thinking and its resulting behavior attract rather than repel co-workers and students.
