The presence of the Laguindingan Airport makes CDO the gateway to Northern Mindanao. CAAP touted Laguindingan Airport to become busiest regional transport facility upon completion of expansions. It basically accommodates 2,000 persons a day.
There are six major foreign and domestic shipping lines operating in Northern Mindanao thru MCT on a weekly call frequency: American President Lines, Maersk Lines, Marianas Express Shipping, NMC Container Lines, Lorenzo Shipping Lines and MCC Transport Philippines.
Legazpi City is recognized as a hall of Famer for being the top component city in DRR for 2013-2015. Gawad Kalasag, which stands for Kalamidad at Sakuna, Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan, is a nationwide award being given yearly in recognition of the outstanding performances of local government units (LGUs), including barangays, as well as civil society organizations, private and public service institutions and volunteer groups in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) and in humanitarian assistance
