2. The Initial Idea
The track we have decided to create a video to is Cassie
“I Know U Want” and the lyrics are extremely sexual
therefore we require a sexy video without being too
explicit. A silhouette allows the performer to create
seductive shadows and outlines of the female body
without the video being inappropriate. We believe this
idea will be effective while also containing connotations
relating to our hip-hop genre.
3. This idea would require the
performer to move and dance
slowly and subtly seductively
creating shadows containing
high levels of sex appeal
appropriate to the song choice.
This may include side shots of
the female, long shots and closeups of parts of the body to
intrigue the audience; to keep
their interest and eyes on the
performer as not being able to
see the female’s facial
expressions and details creates a
sense of mystery.
4. Types of Shots
We require to produce various amounts of shots with the
performer in different positions and angles in order to keep the
audience entertained and create opportunities for editing. The
silhouette scene will be shown in aspects throughout the video
as well as another scene to keep the audience’s attention and to
make the video more thrilling and enjoyable. Shots we will
include will be side view shots, medium and close-ups of the
body, shots of the performer on the ground on hands and
knees, standing shots creating a seductive pose and so on.

6. Smoke & Silhouette
We have an idea of creating smoke around the performer in
the silhouette scenes within the video which will create a
really nice effect while also creating connotations of the
genre. Smoke is often associated with the hip-hop and rap
genre and we think this is a good way of incorporating it
within the video.
7. Hair
Within the silhouette scenes, we
also have another idea which is to
create a wind effect with the use
of a fan which will subtly blow
the hair of the performer and
create a unique and effective
affect against the spotlight
background. It will also connote
the female’s sex appeal and the
silhouette of the hair blowing will
compliment her. The subtle wind
affect also fits well with the slow
and steady pace of the song.
8. Gun Idea
We have an idea for the performer to
be holding a gun which contains
strong connotations of the hip-hop/rap
genre as artists can often be seen and
recognised as being aggressive and
violent. Therefore, this idea fits well
with our chosen genre and also creates
a very nice effect against the silhouette
creating the appearance of the gun
very clear and apparent. It is also
appropriate as we have come up with
ideas for the digipak for the artist to
have a gun.
