The Royal Meteorological Society and The Royal Photographic Society announced the winners of the first Weather Photographer of the Year 2016 competition. Over 800 photographs depicting weather from around the world were submitted. Tim Moxon from the UK was named the overall winner for his photograph of a photogenic tornado in Colorado. Other winners included photographs from the UK, Russia, Antarctica, and Costa Rica showing storms, fog, hail, clouds, and frost.
