Ready to boldly explore new frontiers in health tech for Africa? We are looking for an
experienced full-stack developer to join our growing team. Baobab Circle is a
multidisciplinary team who are passionate about using tech to save lives by delivering
healthcare into the hands of individuals. We are headquartered in London with operations in
East Africa on a mission to use mobile technology to transform health in the same way it has
revolutionized financial services with mobile banking.
Baobab Circle is developing a consumer-centric mobile app to inform and track the health
outcomes of people with long term illnesses like diabetes and hypertension. We will be
delivering context driven content in multiple languages. The platform will also collect and
analyse data on vital signs such as blood glucose, blood pressure, activity etc. Our aim is to
create a positive feedback loop where our user receives personalized information about
their health condition, alerts when they should seek urgent medical help as well as extra
help where needed.
We are currently seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our R&D team. You will help us
build a fully functional content management system. Due to rapid growth and the need for a
fully functioning CMS, you must be an excellent Nodejs developer and able to work
seamlessly in JavaScript and CouchDB when needed. You will play an instrumental role in
new product development, maintaining our current software, and bring complex problem
solving skills to develop market ready software.
Our CMS needs to be a system that can feed JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) into our
application platform so that the end-user application can consume the data. The CMS
platform (should it be capable of outputting JSON data in the format the application
requires) will need to "push" the data to application for validation and publishing. The
integration effort must be a combined exercise between the CMS platform and the product
development (and support) engine that our software development team is providing.
Typical day snapshot
 Working closely with development teams in the UK, Germany, Kenya and the USA to
design, develop and test new features for our existing application
 Design and maintenance of our CMS and application software
 Provide support for scoping and key project estimates
 Develop test cases to be executed during development
 Stay current on modern software development best practices, emerging
technologies, and design patterns
What we need from you
 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical or business
field
 2+ years full software development lifecycle
 Core Nodejs development skills
 Front end development skills (HTML5, CSS and Modern JavaScript, AngularJS, React
or other Model–view view model (MVVM) frameworks)
 Agile development (Scrum, XP, or Pair Programming) experience
