21. What to do if you are Cyberbullied
For Students
Donʼt reply to abusive messages, that may only encourage the
bully.
Keep a record of events/messages or pictures
Think before you send pictures of someone via email, or mobile phone,
they can spread far beyond your circle of friends.
If you receive a rude image or text about someone else do not forward
it
You have a right not to be harassed and bullied online, make sure you
tell someone.
Treat your password like your toothbrush. Donʼt let anyone else use it.

22. What can we do as adults?
• Understand where your students are going online, what
they are doing, and who they are talking to - this is
absolutely vital.
• Accept and acknowledge how important technology is to
your students.
• Don't ask your students if they are being cyberbullied. Use
their language - have they seen mean texts circulating,
humiliating photos or messages on others' Facebook walls?
23. • Really listen to your students when they tell you
their concerns. Discuss it with them.
• Kids won't tell an adult about cyberbullying if they
fear the result will be removal of the phone or
internet access. Discuss this with your students and
reassure them that's not how you'll deal with it.
