1. Describe the most likely marketing channel structure for each of these consumer products: candy
bars, Tupperware products, nonfiction books, new automobiles, farmers' market produce, stereo
equipment, and rolls of steel. Then construct alternative channels for these same products.
Farmers' market produce could fall in one of two marketing channel structures the first one being
direct channel. This is so because the Farmers market can sell their produce ... Show more content

This means that stock levels of raw materials, work in progress, and even finished products are kept
to a minimum. However, this system requires a very carefully planned scheduling for it to work.
Inventory levels are closely monitored such that stock is only obtained when it is needed. This
makes storage or warehousing easy since less space is required transportation as well.
Identify the type of retail operation that the following stores represent:
JC Penneys is a department store because it carries a variety of shopping and specialty goods such
as apparel, cosmetics, housewares, electronics and furniture. Purchases for department stores are
generally made within each department rather than centrally
Food Lion/Vons are specialty stores because they specialize in a given type of product, and in this
case, they specialize in food products.
Seven–Eleven is a convenience store because they carry only a limited line of high–turnover
convenience goods. They are usually found near residential areas and operate 24hours a day, seven
days a week.
Toys–R–Us and Petco are discount stores, but more specifically, specialty discount stores, also
referred to as category killers because they heavily dominate a narrower merchandise segment (in
this case, toys, and pet products respectively).
Wal–Mart and Sam's Club are discount stores, but more specifically, full line discount stores
because they offer

In What Ways Does Fiona Hall Challenge Traditional...
In what ways does Fiona Hall challenge traditional art making practices? Contemporary Australian
artist Fiona Hall uses biological features in her artwork to make political and social statements on
contemporary issues and the history behind them. Hall also works with non–traditional materials,
such as soft–drink cans, candles, pipes, sardine tins, beads, soap and Tupperware. She
recontectualises these everyday objects, inviting us to look beyond the materials to explore deeper
meanings and think about why she used the selected materials. Contemporary artist Fiona Hall
challenge traditional perceptions of art in approach, techniques and practice by continuously
breaking down barriers and pushing expectations. In doing so they also change

Obstacles In Ralph Marston's The Daily Motivator
People face obstacles every day: the unbearable coworker, federal income taxes, and tupperware
with no matching lids. Pressing issues such as these already contribute enough stress to life as it is,
but for some, the obstacle is themselves. Whether this be because of guilt, poor self esteem, or
mental illness, it is important to realize the toxicity of this dynamic and prevent it, as it can lead to
serious consequences even more daunting than those of plastic wares. Ralph Marston, the writer of
The Daily Motivator, states that because of the pressures that many people face each day, it's
important to avoid this type of relationship with oneself. Despite how difficult it can be for some to
do so and the failure some meet, Marston's point holds extreme validity and could prove to be
beneficial when implemented in one's lifestyle. Throughout life people ... Show more content on

But when the person themselves becomes an issue it creates a tango between the two, except
medieval torture style and both are wearing heated iron shoes. Because of this it is important to
tackle any issues that originate from oneself, a great example being Eleanor Longden. In her college
years she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and began hearing voices in her head. This had
troubled her a great deal and even led her to take a break from school; however, she decided to take
what she was given and make something of it, using it as a tool in her studies and profession.
Whether one feels self doubt because mom doesn't accept the neon leopard–print fringe as "the real
me" or genuinely faces issues with self deprecation, many can take something away from this. In the
beginning of Longden's journey with Schizophrenia her life was riddled with fear and feelings of
defeat. How is one supposed to progress if they themselves are prohibiting it? It is true that not
everybody is as fortunate as her, but the day she overcame herself and her

Disadvantages Of Maggi
Part A – Consulting
2)
Guesstimate the number of servings of Maggi that are consumed in India in a day. (Prior to the
lead/MSG fiasco)
India's population is 1.25 billion
30% of the people below poverty line cannot afford Maggi
People who can afford having Maggi =70% of 1.25billion = 0.875 billion
Let us divide the population in the age groups of 0–10 , 11–25, 26–40,40–50,50+
People and Children in the age group of 50+ and 0–10 don't consume significant amount of Maggi.
Hence, they are ignored.
Now no. of people in the following groups:
11–2530% of 0.875 billion = 0.26 billion
26–4030% of 0.875 billion = 0.26 billion
40–5010% of 0.875 billion = 0.087 billion
People in the age group of 11–25 consume more than 1 packet per day. Let's assume it to be 1.2.
People in the age group of 26–40 consume 1 packet per day.
People in the age group of 40–50 consume less than 1 packet per day. Let's assume it to be 0.8.
Total number of Maggi Consumed in a day in India = 0.26*1.2 + 0.26*1+0.087*.8 = 0.64billion.
India's population is 1.25 billion
The percentage of people living in urban areas is 30% of 1.25 billion = 0.3*1.25 =0.375 billion
Urban Population can be split into lower (30% /0.1125 billion ), ... Show more content on

In order to get value for their investors, it has been under a lot of pressure to deliver. Whereas,
Amazon has been able to take a few hits in revenue in order to gain market share. In my opinion, in
order to improve the operational aspects of the companies would be to improve upon the after–sales
aspect of the operations. In such a highly competitive market place, in order for a company to
differentiate itself from the rest, customer service has to be the differentiator. Companies also have
to make sure that there are no instances of delivery getting delayed beyond the indicated/estimated
delivery date. This would not only help in building the trust of customers but also having lots of

The Influence Of Writing
Okay, so clearly this kid has no idea what MLA format is. I don't get it. Did he even look at the
rubric? It's there for a reason. I stretched my arms out behind me and blinked my eyes hard, trying
to re–wet them. This assignment was turning into the bane of my existence, and I was only two
paragraphs deep. I had made a deal with myself, no more than four hours of grading on the
weekends. So much for that. I looked across my desk at the pen holder/old mug and grabbed a new
red pen. My current one was only half full of ink and this short story was going to need a novels
share of red. I started marking away, and soon the page was thoroughly doused in red ink. Capitalize

I pushed the paper to the side and reached into my top drawer for my bottle of Advil, eager to make
the throbbing in my temples subside. Don't take pills on an empty stomach. The last thing I needed
was nausea on top of everything. I pulled out my bottom desk drawer, the secret snack drawer, and
pushed the old chip bags and empty candy wrappers aside, searching for something to nibble on.
Yummy, a half–eaten granola bar and mystery Tupperware. I took my chances with the granola bar,
deciding against the food poisoning that would come with week contents of the mystery
Tupperware.
After cramming the stale granola bar into my mouth I pulled the wrinkled pages of the essay back in
front of me.
The throbbing in my head intensified with every poorly constructed sentence. At least it doesn't get
worse. The consistency is nice...consistently bad. I had to give the kid points for creativity. The
prompt had been to write a story with two of the characters; a mother and child. This was certainly
the most entertaining rendition. Every other story had been about an angst filled argument between a
mom and her teenage kid, but at least they had known which "to" to use.
I finished marking up the page and tallied up the score in accordance to the rubric I had provided.
The final grade came it a solid 63%, a failing grade. I thought back again to the creativity and effort

To Kill A Mockingbird: A Short Story
I was about 12 years old, one summer day I was outside in my front yard playing some basketball
with my little brother. It was your typical summer day, hot, humid, sunny, and the best part was that
there was no school. Everything just seemed normal, as if I had been doing the same thing every
single day, of every single summer, for my whole life. Then in the middle of my game I saw
something fall out of the tree and hit the pavement of the street in front of my house. I watched as it
fell and I could tell it was too heavy to be a leaf so I decided to go check it out. When I began to
approach the object I could tell it was moving and then as I was right in front of it, I knew a bird had
just fallen from this tree. I had seen dead birds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way it was moving, trying to get up, and trying to fly away, I knew there was something wrong
and I was going to do what I could to help save this bird. I responded as I would if it were a human,
I told my brother to go get help as I assessed the wounds. At first glance it was not obvious what
was wrong with the bird so I wanted to take it in my carport where I could see more closely without
the risk of getting hit by a car. My brother came back out with my mom and I already knew what
she was going to say, "Jeremy do not touch that bird, if it dies it dies but you don't know what kind
of germs that bird has", but it was too late, I was set on saving this birds life. My brother was into it
too and I knew he would help me out. First thing was we needed to move that bird into the carport
to I told my brother to find something we can use to keep the bird in for now and to transport it
while I go get gloves because you really don't know what that bird has on it. After my brother found
a plastic tupperware in my kitchen, which I knew my mom would be pissed about after she found
out what we were using it for, we picked up the bird and took it to our "workshop." This was just the
top of an old plastic skate ramp that I used to use and my parents and I were too lazy to

Explain Why It Is Important To Be In Control Of Paperwork
It is important to be in control of our paperwork; we don't always have control over what we receive
in the form of paperwork and most of that tends to come from our mail. What we do have control
over is how we deal with this source of clutter. With that in mind, let's look at a good way to deal
with our mail. Most people receive mail six days a week, this may depend on your specific location.
Sometimes there are days when all that you receive is "junk" mail – mail that serves no purpose
other than trying to sell you something or get you to donate money or some other distracting topic.
We are all in the habit of getting our mail daily since that is the usual delivery schedule – but does
that mean we have to let it occupy our space and time

Personal Narrative: Race Car Club
As far as true passions go, I've always worried about being a lousy artist. This was evident in the
time I was assigned to design my team's logo for our Race Car Club's first competition. Graphic
design was untouched territory for me along with leadership as I was not only the artist of this club
but also the president.
I gracefully accepted the challenge brought on by my peers. It was no secret that I was the best artist
in my high school due to my countless awards from art shows and endless recognitions but I still
lacked the confidence to put my ideas out there. My artistic eye wouldn't get me anywhere in life; I
thought it was essentially a useless talent as the world needs more than beautiful portraits and artsy
doodles.
On the day of competition, my inner perfectionist is set at ease when looking at my finished
product. In front of me was a complete remote control car with my ... Show more content on

It needed to be smoothed out to make the finest lines as possible or in it's case, it needed to glide
efficiently in the air. With only an x–acto knife, tape, and a tupperware cover, I cultivated an
undertray system that would create smooth air flow between the car's framework and the road.
When set to the test, the RC car crunched crucial seconds in the race with this innovation. In the
end, we set third place which was unexpected for it being our first competition.
My creativity allowed me to compose solutions that most people would'nt. It dawns on me that an
artistic view of the world is not only a significant aspect of myself but also to those around me. This
experience allowed me to embrace my talent and encouraged me to utilize it rather than trying to
suppress it with uncertainty. I don't worry about the authenticity of my art anymore because to be an
artist, it's important to love every moment enough to persevere through the frustration. This is what
makes the destination worth the

There are many potential sources of conflict. Today's organizations are characterized by complex
relationships and a high degree of task interdependence, so friction can easily occur. Moreover, the
goals of the parties are often incompatible, especially when the parties compete for limited
resources (Weihrich & Koontz, 2005). This holds true for Tupperware Brands, as there is a high
degree of task interdependence between the departments comprising each division of the
corporation. Hence, friction can easily occur also, especially that each department has their own
goals to achieve that may or may not be in favour of the goals of the other departments.
It was mentioned that one major source of conflict is when the goal of the parties are incompatible,
especially when parties compete for limited resources but as for Tupperware Brands, the
departments do not compete for limited resources but they do pursue different goals in achieving
their division's goal of producing a functionally and aesthetically quality product at the lowest cost

Lab Report Essay
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment is to classify the pigments in various plant specimens as one of the
four main pigments by recognizing distinct characteristics indicative of each pigment. If the water
keeps the color of the specimen, then I will be able to identify which pigment (or perhaps pigments)
is present in the specimen. I came to this conclusion based on the logic that some of the four
pigments are water–soluble, so if the water has no color, the pigment dissolved and I can eliminate
said pigment. I think that my ability to distinguish the three red specimens will depend on the results
of the experiment; if the results suggest that all three red specimens have the same pigment it will be
difficult to tell which one is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let's start off with the tomato specimen. Right off the bat, we can eliminate chlorophyll, because
tomatoes are red and chlorophyll reflects green light (making it appear green to our eyes). The liquid
did not retain the tomato's red color; therefore, we can conclude that the pigment must NOT be
water–soluble, otherwise it would dissolve in the water. Only one of the three red main pigments is
not water–soluble: carotenoids, so they are the most likely candidate for the tomato's pigment. Next
is the beet. Again, we can eliminate chlorophyll. The liquid definitely retained the color of the beet,
so I can eliminate carotenoids. That means the beet pigment is either anthocyanins or betalains (it
cannot be both). The green leaf specimen is fairly obvious. The leaves most likely contain the
pigment chlorophyll, resulting in the leaves' green color. Yet, my observations challenge this,
because the water appeared green, suggesting that the chlorophyll dissolved despite that it is not
water–soluble. Nonetheless, there is a possibility that I mistakenly perceived the water as green.
Finally, the red cabbage. The red cabbage may also contain either anthocyanins or betalains, seeing
as the water was purple and so the pigment must be

Google's Marketing Strategy
The phrase "Google it" has become an everyday part of our vocabulary when it comes to looking up
any and all information. What google has created is much more than a simple search engine.
They've created a brand that has changed marketing in general. Google ADwords is an online
advertising service. What google has done is created a level playing field for all advertisers, from
small start–up companies to large fortune 500 companies.
Adwords is Google's main source of revenue. In 2012 Googles advertising revenue was about $43.7
billion. I think the personally the pricing aspect of Google's marketing has been key to making it
very successful. For example, you have thousands of people that walk through a major mall such as

Certain things Yahoo has to offer show's that there's still room for growth with Google. Yahoo has
its own question and answer forums, where users can ask other users any question and receive
responses. Yahoo also has a careers section. Those who are looking for a job can use yahoo has a
resource. There are so many more uses that Yahoo has to offer. They have their own finance,
politics, fashion, travel, dating, sports and even top stories that are trending now. So even though ad
words allows you to reach your target crowd more directly, Yahoo offers a site with many different
uses and purposes which may in turn drawn in larger and more diverse crowds that would use their
search engine as a result. These are all areas of opportunity that Google and it's advertisers may be
able to benefit from. I do believe there are some threats that Google is facing. OPTING OUT could
be a potential pitfall for google. This goes hand in hand with Americans growing concern for their
lack of privacy. There's been a growing animosity in our culture to a feeling of always being
monitored or tracked. Retargeting is huge for Google, however the logistics behind Retargeting is
done by tracking users cookies. Controversy has been stirring for some time about how much of our
information is being unknowingly tracked and monitored and its trickling down to things that may
be as simple as consumers not wanting their every movement online tracked. That being said

Oriental Amphora In Corinth
This report is presented by archaeologist Annabelle Green who excavated an Oriental amphora in
Corinth, Greece in 2012. The amphora demonstrates life in Ancient Greece such as trading
arrangements between other empires influencing Ancient Grecian artists and objects. The amphora
represents the Oriental period, occurring in 700–620 BCE. This is evident as illustrations of
mythological animals and cartoon figures decorate all Oriental amphorae. The amphora is separated
into three partitions, with three mythological animals in two segments and the bottom segment
having figures offering food up to the mythological animals. The animals are decorated in patterns,
coloured in darker tones. Patterns decorate the handles and the base of the amphora,

The Mathematical Theory Of Communication In Thomas...
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, entropy can be defined as "the degree of disorder or
uncertainty in a system." In his novel, The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon manipulates the
definition of the scientific term "entropy" to manifest the innate chaos and disorder in both a closed
thermodynamic system and in the life of the protagonist: Oedipa Maas. In the novel, Oedipa Maas
explores entropy with respect to the thermodynamic sorting of molecules in Maxwell's Demon, and
the communication information regarding the "Tristero". According to Warren Weaver's, Recent
Contributions to The Mathematical Theory of Communication, there are technical, semantic, and
effectiveness problems that may distort the accuracy of communication, ... Show more content on

Since entropy prospers in closed environments much like Oedipa's life at the beginning of the novel,
Pynchon develops the idea that the chaos in Oedipa's life is subject to increase with the discovery of
more information pointing to the existence of Tristero. This overload of information Oedipa
experiences serves as a roadblock to her understanding of the true meaning behind the Tristero.
According to Warren Weaver, "the entropy in the channel is determined both by what one attempts
to feed into the channel and by the capabilities of the channel to handle different signal situations"
(Weaver, 10). Thus, when Oedipa is fed copious amounts of symbols, words, and theories, she finds
it hard to handle sorting what is real and unreal. This confusion that Oedipa endures is a direct
consequence of the "noise" created by different people, symbols, and word that disrupt Oedipa's
deciphering of the Tristero. Warren Weaver comments on this "noise" seen in Claude Shannon's
communication transmission model, stating that, "If noise is introduced, then the received message
contains certain distortions...that would certainly lead one to say that the received message exhibits,
because of the effects of the noise, an increased uncertainty... If the information source has any
residual uncertainty...then this must be undesirable uncertainty due to noise" (Weaver, 11). This
"undesirable uncertainty due to noise" leads

regarding photography on the internet.
Myth #1: ISO 200 Produces Less Noise than ISO 100

not mistakenly assume that f/8 or f/11 produces the sharpest results. The truth is that the figures

sharpest results in your lenses. The experiment might be time consuming but it will give you
information about your lenses with which you can have professional photos every time you click

How To Get Rid Of Mice At Home

also lead to new thinking about sanitation systems, most of which are still being used today. Mice

Childhood Obesity Persuasive Speech
In this day and age childhood obesity has almost become a normal thing to see especially here in the
united states. It's so easy to stop by a drive thru and pick a quick meal for you and your child for a
fairly low cost when on the run. Many of us have been guilty of picky up or child, brother, sister, or
daughter after school and swinging by fast food restaurant for a quick meal. It sometimes maybe
done out of laziness, lack of time, or because it's a lot quicker than cooking up a healthy meal and
then having to clean up the mess.
Much of this eating out could be prevented if you yourself were to meal prep once to twice a week
for your children. This a much healthier and cost effective option rather than swinging by a drive

Dinosaur Ice Excavation Sensory Play As you know, I'm a proud Daddy & love spending time with

smaller dinosaurs as the babies. He repeated after us and would call them Mama, Dada, & Baby

nature. Of course our 20–month–old didn't exactly grasp everything we were talking about, but he

that's not a way to ruin a date I don't know what is. Now if you are like me im not going to bring

ruining your diet; is simple science. Now if you are a bodybuilder following a more strenuous type
of diet preparing for a show. You might refrain from going out to eat. Mostly I doubt each serving of
food is going to be the exact same portions. Or going to be the same exact caloric intake as what it
says on the menu. The biggest issue I normally see with clean eating is refraining from foods that
you personally enjoy. When I was at our family outing I really wanted to eat some of the pie! Now
most people end up starving themselves because they eliminate "bad and unhealthy foods" from
their diet; thinking it will make them fat, and have health problems. So how can eating "clean or
healthy" make you fat? Two words "binge eating". Example: You are doing good and eliminated
every "bad" food on the planet. The weekend comes around and you get invited to dinner and there

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Fishing
It seemed like a good idea at the time. Shortly after, I found out the opposite. When in the 5th grade,
I would often bike across my neighborhood to a public park with a small pond in it. I went fishing in
it with my friend, David, or sometimes even my little sister. While practicing a catch–and–release
style of fishing regularly, I decided to bring a fish home one day. On the hazy summer day, I was a
carefree dolphin, cruising down the hill at a relaxed speed. My bicycle had a metal rack behind the
seat, to which I Duck–Taped a bucket onto, with the purpose of carrying my tackle box and fishing
rod. My sister was closing in from behind on her purple Barbie bike by the time I made it to the
gravel path that led to the pond. When we got to the spot, I setup my sister's line first, then I dropped
my own hook down, right below the dock. Almost immediately, a bluegill devoured the small chunk
of a Slim Jim like a blood–thirsty piranha. After I caught around 30 panfish, I landed one fish with
very vibrant colors. I decided I wanted to bring it home and keep it as a pet. So just before me and
my sister departed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the series at the time. While at the dinner table, I told my mom all about my new pet; she did not
seem amused. She told me that we already have enough pets and that we don not have anywhere to
keep the fish. She also made it very clear that if it died in my possession, I would be susceptible to a
just punishment. My mother always found a way to convince me, her diction seemed to be as
intelligent as Shakespeare's; she instructed me to put the fish back into the pond. So, I did just

College Admissions Essay: A Career In Business
My journey towards reaching my career aspirations in business began five years ago when my mom
made the fateful decision to work as a sales manager for Tupperware. It was through her that I was
introduced to the world of business. Through assisting my mom in her work and job shadowing
various people I reached the conclusion that I want to major in a business– related field be it
management or marketing. When my senior year of high school came I was faced with the choice of
having to decide where I would go to college. As can be observed I ultimately chose Lehigh
University. Before deciding on Lehigh I made a pros and cons list of the schools I was accepted to
which included: class sizes, professors, alumni connection, and location. ... Show more content on

In addition to Lehigh, I was strongly considering another university on par with it. But when it came
to the minor details I realized that if I was going to major in management or marketing Lehigh
would be the best choice. In that way, I guess it could be said my interest in business has been a
major determinant in my life journey. As mentioned previously I was introduced to the business
world five years ago by my mom who has been one of my greatest inspirations. It was through her
that I was able to get the opportunity to job shadow the regional director of the midwest sector of
Tupperware Brands Corporations. That experience opened my eyes to how a corporation operates
from the bottom up. It also helped me to see the various occupations that I could potentially hold.
Although job shadowing helped to cultivate my interest in business it was my mom who really made
me think about what I would like to major in. As my mom was not the most computer savvy when
she first started working I would often help her send out emails to her employees, keep her social
media accounts active, and edit brochures, pictures, and flyers which she would need to distribute to
others. By doing all of this I was able to learn more about the soft and technical skills needed in the
business world. I did not realize it at the time but the work I did then has helped me refine the

Symbolism in “Cats” and “Shiloh”
Jill McCorkle, along with Bobbie Ann Mason often use the symbolism of a short story to further the
meaning of the piece. In the short story "Shiloh", Mason uses Leroy and Norma Jean to exhibit a
further meaning of the story by effectively using symbolism. In addition to "Shiloh", McCorkle also
uses symbolism in her story "Cats" to symbolise how cats can be related to humans in multiple
ways. McCorkle describes the relationship between two cats, Pumpkin Pie and Possum, and their
two human counterparts, Anne and Abbott, and how they share similar characteristics. In works
such as "Shiloh" and "Cats", symbolism furthers the meaning of the story and leave the
interpretation of the work up to the reader.
In Bobbie Ann Mason's short story "Shiloh", Mason uses the marriage of Leroy and Norma Jean to
symbolise how Leroy's life decisions can be detrimental to his marriage. Ever since Leroy was in an
accident while driving a truck, he was able to stay at home with Norma Jean often. This time
together make them realize how little they still loved each other. Mason uses the symbolism of him
losing his job to represent how their love for each other has deterred over the course of their
marriage. Bobbie Ann Mason use symbolism effectively when he writes "Norma Jean has reached
the bluff, and she is looking out over the Tennessee River. Now she turns toward Leroy and waves
her arms. Is she beckoning to him? She seems to be doing an exercise for her chest muscles. The sky

The Decision Making Process Of The Consumer
In order to advertise the JW99, one needs to sell an experience and demonstrate what problem it can
solve i.e. improving health instead of simply selling the product. The Expected Utility Theory states
that each person seeks to maximize their own gains. Putting that in context with a low self–control,
one can identify that an offer should be fair since the key demographic might reject an unfair offer
out of altruism. The decision making process of the consumer is a quick and intuitive one [See
Appendix A]. In order to start advertising a change needs to happen in the eating habits. The
strategy is to spread the word, create a buzz and sell an experience.
In order to spread the word about the healthier lifestyle, the North Carolina's initiative with doctors
and health officials can be used. 11.5% of the allocated $2 USD million are recommended to be
spent on the initiative, accounting for $230,000 USD. With this money, 10 doctors and 90 health
officials will be sponsored [See Appendix A], reaching approximately 180,500 citizens. Health
Officials and Doctors are expected to impose an authority effect within the social status since as
social creatures, customers take into account authority and value the opinion. Additionally, general
health statements i.e. on the importance of fiber can be published on the company 's website written
by the doctors. This way, there is no direct product marketing involved and only a support of why a
healthy lifestyle is a good lifestyle.

May 3, 2017 Their Eyes Were Watching God In this story, I have found that the themes that have
stood out to me is gender and love. These themes have captured a major thematic idea by gender
being discriminated against the women and the men. Gender is described as women being weaker
than the men and men being the powerful ones. Love is described in this story as independent until
it is found. Finding love is a part of life and everybody tries to find it but when it is found, it seems
like you have lived you life to the fullest. These examples of the themes can be brought into the real
world and can affect how people live their lives.
My first theme is going to be about gender. In the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gender can happen in the real world which can lead to personal experiences. I have experienced
some gender inequality throughout my life and have had family situations since I have been alive.
For instance, my parents lived in a time where men went to work and the women had to clean, cook,
and stuff around the house. I have experienced some problems myself by my brother and I having to
do outside yard work while my sister only does inside work. She claims that yard work is "for men
and it's a man 's job.". What I have to say about that is that men and women don 't need to do work
based off if it is a man or woman's job, work is work and you shouldn't base it off gender inequality.
Another situation I was faced with was when my mom was trying to get a job, she was trying to get
a job at selling Tupperware. She was faced with "you can't sell Tupperware because you are a
woman and people don 't buy stuff off of women.". She sticked with her gut and went for it, now she
is very successful in her business and doesn't let what a guy said to her stop her.
Another theme I chose from the story was love. Love can be a powerful thing or a devastating thing.
For example, "After that she came to where Joe Starks was waiting for her with a hired rig. He was
very solemn and helped her to the seat beside him. With him on it, it sat like some high, ruling chair.
From now on until death she

Essay about Women in the Workforce
The sight of a working woman today is not something that causes one to look twice. However, this
was not always the case. It was a long struggle for women to get to where they are today, and there
is still a long way to go. There were a few momentous occasions throughout history that caused a
shift in the way women were viewed as workers, such as the need for workers during World War II,
the Equal Pay Act, and the appointment of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court. Women
have made great strides in integrating themselves into the workforce alongside men and continue to
do so today. Throughout much of history, women have been viewed as inferior to men. In the 1800s
and early 1900s, women were not allowed to hold the same jobs or ... Show more content on

With the advent of protests one would think that rights would come quickly to prevent violence and
more uprisings. Sadly, this was not the case. Women's rights were slow to come and it would still be
many years before they achieved even a semblance of equality to men. In the 1920s women became
more independent and started to slowly gain rights ("Women of the Century"). Women's suffrage
was finally granted in 1920, which was a huge step towards equality for men and women. For the
first time, women were able to vote on issues that mattered to them, which was extremely important
in order to gain more rights. In 1923, the Equal Rights Amendment was first introduced, although it
would not be passed in Congress until almost fifty years later. Despite these steps of progress, the
Great Depression caused some setbacks. Due to the large numbers of unemployment, women were
discouraged from "taking jobs" away from men ("Women of the Century). Some states even went so
far as to pass laws prohibiting the hiring of women. World War II began quickly after this which
greatly increased the number of women in the work force. World War II was the first time that
women were greatly encouraged to join the workforce. Nearly 6 million women took industrial jobs
such as steel plants, shipyards, and lumber mills at the urging of the government and media
("Women of the Century"). Because the men were away fighting in

Communism to me seemed like a democracy. Communism began in the 20th century. This type of
rule, led to the Red Scare.
The Red Scare, started by the Communists, was a worker revolution. Workers went on strike, and
fear was put into peoples hearts.
"As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and
early 1950s, hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. became known as

These are two things that were big issues and big fears during World War II.

“What’s That Smell in the Kitchen?”
Reader –Response Criticism
"What's That Smell in the Kitchen?"
Marge Piercy's poem "What's That Smell in the Kitchen" is about the women's rights movement of
the seventies and the quiet rage an older women might feel towards her husband, her place in life
and the movement in general. The poem begins unifying women across
America and ends with a blatant declaration of war, using clever wording relating a woman's life to
the kitchen and the food she prepares. At the beginning of the poem Piercy states "All over America
women are burning dinners." This shows that this is not a solitary fight by a lone woman, but a
movement on a large scale. The typical reader may see this as a way of identifying with the message
of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The woman in the poem shows us the anger she is feeling is directed at her husband. The typical
reader may see these thoughts of her husband's imaginary demise as threats or of really intense
hatred. I think that the woman in the poem isn't really plotting to kill her husband. She speaks as
though she wants him dead but the over the top ways in which she imagines his end suggest that her
rage is impotent. As upset as she may be, it is hardly conceivable that she would actually grill "her
husband spitted over a slow fire." It is also highly unlikely that she would serve him a "dead rat with
a bomb in its belly/ ticking like the heart of an insomniac." These images are violent but humorous
at the same time. I feel if the woman was to do something more realistic like poison his food the
threat might be more serious and there for more scary. Focus is now brought back to the woman's
feelings about life. "Her life is cooked and digested, nothing but leftovers in Tupperware," is a
powerful and telling line as to what the woman feels about herself. She is past her prime. Using the
metaphor of a meal, one could associate the preparation stage with childhood, cooking as growing
up, and the eating of the meal as her prime. She clearly feels she is past her prime as her life has
been digested. She also refers to herself as "leftovers" which may tell us she views herself as less
than she once was. She feels

The Tupperware Party: A Symbol Of 1950's Suburban Life
The Tupperware Party was a symbol of 1950's suburban living and a fascinating usage of manners
and friendship as a method of selling merchandise.
Who was Earl Tupper and Brownie Wise?
The story of Tupperware begins with its creator, Earl Tupper, an American born Costa Rican
inventor and business man.
In the 1940s, his experiments with polyethylene slag, having taken inspiration from the lids of paint
cans, led him to his holy grail.

Tupperware appealed not only in the desire for material luxuries but also a sense of belong.
Becoming a dealer meant having a large network of social relations, money and standing in the
community. Brownie Wise and Tupperware could be seen as a 1950s version of Steve Jobs and
Apple, utilizing an understanding of social networks, manners and the desire fit in with the crowd.
Tupperware grew to become such a widely accepted and successful phenomenon that one Methodist
preacher spent a Sunday's sermon on the value of Tupperware as an American icon and 'a defensive
bulwark against communism'. Tupperware was more than a product, it was a community. Company

Mix Culture Streak Plate Kitchen Lab Microbiology Essay
Introduction–
The purpose of this experiment is to obtain isolation of individual species of particles from the
mixed culture. This is completed through the isolation technique of streak plate. The objective of
this experiment is to replicate the technique of streak plate but on a much larger scale. Because it is
on a larger scale the particles are able to be visually observed as they are isolated using the streaking
technique as the experiment is conducted. The benefits of the streaking technique is when a cultures
has multiple species they are able to be more easily identified once they have been isolated. This
experiment is much like the experiments completed on an agar plate but on one a much larger scale

The particles were even more narrowed down in this final streak allowing for further separation of
each individual particle. The streaking utensil was cleaned using the particle remover and returned
to the utensil storage area. And the other items collected for this lab were cleaned and returned to
their storage areas.
Results–
The particles that were collected for the lab were very concentrated prior to being mixed into the
medium. Once the particles where mixed into the medium they was a decreased in their
concentration as the medium allowed for separation by filling the spaces between them. Once the
first streak was made it was slightly less concentrated and this allowed for the particles to be spread
out over the surface. The concentration of particles that were spread with each streak continued to
decrease. In the final streak, as seen in picture 7, the particles were separated almost to the point of
being able to individually identify each color of particle. Much as the same results that you might
see with a mixed culture that was completed in a lab and final results reviewed under a microscope.
Discussion–

Rebecca Racing Legal Analysis
Introduction: The following essay will defend the charges against Rebecca Racing in an attempt to
have them dismissed. It will discuss the relevant facts and summary of the Australian Sports Anti–
Doping Authority & Athletics Australia v Rebecca Racing case, a legal analysis of the contracts to
which the athlete is bound, the jurisdiction of CAS, applicable provisions under the Athletics
Australia Anti–Doping Policy, and relevant case law and applicable law to support this provision.
These findings will prove that there is no sufficient proof to the required standard that Racing was in
possession of a prohibited substance or was attempting use of a prohibited substance or prohibited
method. Relevant Facts: On March 5th, 2016, Athletics Australia Relays Coach Charlie Control
witnessed a plastic Tupperware container fall out of a team issued bag while he was loading the
bags into a car after the IAAF Melbourne World Challenge Meet. The four bags belonged to
members of the Australian women's 4x100m relay team: Rebecca Racing, Felicity Fast, ... Show

Ice Cream Lab
Did the solid Ice Cream Formation Change Based on Type of Salt Use?
Purpose
The purpose of the lab was to identify how the different types of salt applied to ice effect the amount
of solid ice cream formed.
Background Research
Ice cream is a solution with a lower freezing point than H2O therefor regular ice cannot lower the
temperature enough for solid product to form (Science Matters). Lowering the temperature farther is
the job of salt. NaCl (salt) will dissolve in water (or ice in this case) to form a solution with a lower
freezing point. The Fahrenheit system is based off salt solutions with 0° F being the point where a
salt solution freezes. By adding salt to the ice surrounding the Ice Cream solution the ice begins the
process of melting (Elementary Science Program). When the solid ice transforms into liquid with
the addition of salt the process requires heat (Elementary Science ... Show more content on

Salt was mined out of large salt flats that were the remains of ancient sea's that had dried up.
Nowadays salt is produced both by mining old lakes and drying up newer lakes. Harvesters will
flood a shallow area with salt water and wait for the water to evaporate. When the designated area is
dry workers just scrape up the remaining salt. Salt is used to lower the temperature and unless it is
created in a lab, which is not a cost effective was to obtain salt, the mining and harvesting causes
verities of salt. Sea salt is obtained simply by harvesting dry sea's; this can be done by both mining
and farming. Sea salt varies widely and contains many other trace mineral and elements (Health
Nut). Kosher salt is small, purer flakes of salt compacted if mined or grown via the evaporation
process (Health Nut). The differences in Kosher Salts and Sea Salts are explored in their ability to
create solid product from an Ice Cream solution.

Describe the most likely marketing channel structure for each of these consumer products: candy bars, Tupperware products, nonfiction books, new automobiles, farmers' market produce, stereo equipment, and rolls of steel. This means that stock levels of raw materials, work in progress, and even finished products are kept to a minimum. However, this system requires a very carefully planned scheduling for it to work. Inventory levels are closely monitored such that stock is only obtained when it is needed. This makes storage or warehousing easy since less space is required transportation as well. Identify the type of retail operation that the following stores represent: JC Penneys is a department store because it carries a variety of shopping and specialty goods such as apparel, cosmetics, housewares, electronics and furniture. Purchases for department stores are generally made within each department rather than centrally Food Lion/Vons are specialty stores because they specialize in a given type of product, and in this case, they specialize in food products. Seven–Eleven is a convenience store because they carry only a limited line of high–turnover convenience goods. They are usually found near residential areas and operate 24hours a day, seven days a week. Toys–R–Us and Petco are discount stores, but more specifically, specialty discount stores, also referred to as category killers because they heavily dominate a narrower merchandise segment (in this case, toys, and pet products respectively). Contemporary Australian artist Fiona Hall uses biological features in her artwork to make political and social statements on contemporary issues and the history behind them. Hall also works with non–traditional materials, such as soft–drink cans, candles, pipes, sardine tins, beads, soap and Tupperware. She recontectualises these everyday objects, inviting us to look beyond the materials to explore deeper meanings and think about why she used the selected materials. • 4. Obstacles In Ralph Marston's The Daily Motivator People face obstacles every day: the unbearable coworker, federal income taxes, and tupperware with no matching lids. Pressing issues such as these already contribute enough stress to life as it is, but for some, the obstacle is themselves. Whether this be because of guilt, poor self esteem, or mental illness, it is important to realize the toxicity of this dynamic and prevent it, as it can lead to serious consequences even more daunting than those of plastic wares. Ralph Marston, the writer of The Daily Motivator, states that because of the pressures that many people face each day, it's important to avoid this type of relationship with oneself. Despite how difficult it can be for some to do so and the failure some meet, Marston's point holds extreme validity and could prove to be beneficial when implemented in one's lifestyle. But when the person themselves becomes an issue it creates a tango between the two, except medieval torture style and both are wearing heated iron shoes. Because of this it is important to tackle any issues that originate from oneself, a great example being Eleanor Longden. In her college years she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and began hearing voices in her head. This had troubled her a great deal and even led her to take a break from school; however, she decided to take what she was given and make something of it, using it as a tool in her studies and profession. Whether one feels self doubt because mom doesn't accept the neon leopard–print fringe as "the real me" or genuinely faces issues with self deprecation, many can take something away from this. In the beginning of Longden's journey with Schizophrenia her life was riddled with fear and feelings of defeat. How is one supposed to progress if they themselves are prohibiting it? I stretched my arms out behind me and blinked my eyes hard, trying to re–wet them. This assignment was turning into the bane of my existence, and I was only two paragraphs deep. I had made a deal with myself, no more than four hours of grading on the weekends. So much for that. I looked across my desk at the pen holder/old mug and grabbed a new red pen. I pulled out my bottom desk drawer, the secret snack drawer, and pushed the old chip bags and empty candy wrappers aside, searching for something to nibble on. Yummy, a half–eaten granola bar and mystery Tupperware. I took my chances with the granola bar, deciding against the food poisoning that would come with week contents of the mystery Tupperware. After cramming the stale granola bar into my mouth I pulled the wrinkled pages of the essay back in front of me. The throbbing in my head intensified with every poorly constructed sentence. At least it doesn't get worse. The consistency is nice...consistently bad. I had to give the kid points for creativity. The prompt had been to write a story with two of the characters; a mother and child. This was certainly the most entertaining rendition. Every other story had been about an angst filled argument between a mom and her teenage kid, but at least they had known which "to" to use. It was your typical summer day, hot, humid, sunny, and the best part was that there was no school. Everything just seemed normal, as if I had been doing the same thing every single day, of every single summer, for my whole life. I watched as it fell and I could tell it was too heavy to be a leaf so I decided to go check it out. Explain Why It Is Important To Be In Control Of Paperwork It is important to be in control of our paperwork; we don't always have control over what we receive in the form of paperwork and most of that tends to come from our mail. What we do have control over is how we deal with this source of clutter. With that in mind, let's look at a good way to deal with our mail. Most people receive mail six days a week, this may depend on your specific location. Sometimes there are days when all that you receive is "junk" mail – mail that serves no purpose other than trying to sell you something or get you to donate money or some other distracting topic. This was evident in the time I was assigned to design my team's logo for our Race Car Club's first competition. Graphic design was untouched territory for me along with leadership as I was not only the artist of this club but also the president. I gracefully accepted the challenge brought on by my peers. It was no secret that I was the best artist in my high school due to my countless awards from art shows and endless recognitions but I still lacked the confidence to put my ideas out there. My artistic eye wouldn't get me anywhere in life; I thought it was essentially a useless talent as the world needs more than beautiful portraits and artsy doodles. Moreover, the goals of the parties are often incompatible, especially when the parties compete for limited resources (Weihrich & Koontz, 2005). This holds true for Tupperware Brands, as there is a high degree of task interdependence between the departments comprising each division of the corporation. • 12. Lab Report Essay Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to classify the pigments in various plant specimens as one of the four main pigments by recognizing distinct characteristics indicative of each pigment. If the water keeps the color of the specimen, then I will be able to identify which pigment (or perhaps pigments) is present in the specimen. I came to this conclusion based on the logic that some of the four pigments are water–soluble, so if the water has no color, the pigment dissolved and I can eliminate said pigment. I think that my ability to distinguish the three red specimens will depend on the results of the experiment; if the results suggest that all three red specimens have the same pigment it will be difficult to tell which one is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let's start off with the tomato specimen. Right off the bat, we can eliminate chlorophyll, because tomatoes are red and chlorophyll reflects green light (making it appear green to our eyes). The liquid did not retain the tomato's red color; therefore, we can conclude that the pigment must NOT be water–soluble, otherwise it would dissolve in the water. Only one of the three red main pigments is not water–soluble: carotenoids, so they are the most likely candidate for the tomato's pigment. Next is the beet. Again, we can eliminate chlorophyll. The liquid definitely retained the color of the beet, so I can eliminate carotenoids. That means the beet pigment is either anthocyanins or betalains (it cannot be both). The green leaf specimen is fairly obvious. The leaves most likely contain the pigment chlorophyll, resulting in the leaves' green color. Yet, my observations challenge this, because the water appeared green, suggesting that the chlorophyll dissolved despite that it is not water–soluble. Nonetheless, there is a possibility that I mistakenly perceived the water as green. Finally, the red cabbage. The red cabbage may also contain either anthocyanins or betalains, seeing as the water was purple and so the pigment must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Mathematical Theory Of Communication In Thomas... According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, entropy can be defined as "the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system." In his novel, The Crying of Lot 49, Thomas Pynchon manipulates the definition of the scientific term "entropy" to manifest the innate chaos and disorder in both a closed thermodynamic system and in the life of the protagonist: Oedipa Maas. In the novel, Oedipa Maas explores entropy with respect to the thermodynamic sorting of molecules in Maxwell's Demon, and the communication information regarding the "Tristero". According to Warren Weaver's, Recent Contributions to The Mathematical Theory of Communication, there are technical, semantic, and effectiveness problems that may distort the accuracy of communication, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since entropy prospers in closed environments much like Oedipa's life at the beginning of the novel, Pynchon develops the idea that the chaos in Oedipa's life is subject to increase with the discovery of more information pointing to the existence of Tristero. This overload of information Oedipa experiences serves as a roadblock to her understanding of the true meaning behind the Tristero. According to Warren Weaver, "the entropy in the channel is determined both by what one attempts to feed into the channel and by the capabilities of the channel to handle different signal situations" (Weaver, 10). Thus, when Oedipa is fed copious amounts of symbols, words, and theories, she finds it hard to handle sorting what is real and unreal. This confusion that Oedipa endures is a direct consequence of the "noise" created by different people, symbols, and word that disrupt Oedipa's deciphering of the Tristero. Warren Weaver comments on this "noise" seen in Claude Shannon's communication transmission model, stating that, "If noise is introduced, then the received message contains certain distortions...that would certainly lead one to say that the received message exhibits, because of the effects of the noise, an increased uncertainty... If the information source has any residual uncertainty...then this must be undesirable uncertainty due to noise" (Weaver, 11). This "undesirable uncertainty due to noise" leads ... My sister was closing in from behind on her purple Barbie bike by the time I made it to the gravel path that led to the pond. Almost immediately, a bluegill devoured the small chunk of a Slim Jim like a blood–thirsty piranha. After I caught around 30 panfish, I landed one fish with very vibrant colors. The Decision Making Process Of The Consumer In order to advertise the JW99, one needs to sell an experience and demonstrate what problem it can solve i.e. improving health instead of simply selling the product. The Expected Utility Theory states that each person seeks to maximize their own gains. Putting that in context with a low self–control, one can identify that an offer should be fair since the key demographic might reject an unfair offer out of altruism. The decision making process of the consumer is a quick and intuitive one [See Appendix A]. In order to start advertising a change needs to happen in the eating habits. The strategy is to spread the word, create a buzz and sell an experience. In order to spread the word about the healthier lifestyle, the North Carolina's initiative with doctors and health officials can be used. 11.5% of the allocated $2 USD million are recommended to be spent on the initiative, accounting for $230,000 USD. The air was so hot and damp in the classroom, it only made my anxiety worse and no matter how hard i tried i couldn 't focus on the lecture, all i could hope was that the teacher didn 't pick up on how i haven 't been listening since the second the class started. We started on our way to his house, while having one of our never ending conversations about everything that happened that day. We told each other pretty much everything, which is why i decided he should be the first to know. It was a 20 to 30 minute walk from the school to his house but it was never a dull one. Halfway there my legs would always begin to ache, and i 'd like to pretend i was so in shape for occasionally walking to his house. We sang the entire way to his house, and and i could feel my anxiety lifting like a heavy wet blanket off my shoulders. Communism to me seemed like a democracy. Communism began in the 20th century. This type of rule, led to the Red Scare. The Red Scare, started by the Communists, was a worker revolution. Workers went on strike, and fear was put into peoples hearts. "As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s, hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. became known as the Red Scare" (Red). Rachel's best friend Marla is hosting a Tupperware party in which Rachel has reluctantly agreed to attend. Rachel has avoided attending parties since her seventeen–year–old daughter Janie was found murdered numerous years ago; she hates the way people speak to her, monitoring everything they say in order to not cause her more pain. Marla, who does not tip toe around Rachel, reminded her that Janie would have loved Tupperware because she was always so organized. "And on she went about the room, serving food and compliments, fixing every guest with that strange piercing gaze of hers, so that by the time she finished and was ready to do her demonstration, everyone obediently ... • 36. “What’s That Smell in the Kitchen?” Reader –Response Criticism "What's That Smell in the Kitchen?" Marge Piercy's poem "What's That Smell in the Kitchen" is about the women's rights movement of the seventies and the quiet rage an older women might feel towards her husband, her place in life and the movement in general. The poem begins unifying women across America and ends with a blatant declaration of war, using clever wording relating a woman's life to the kitchen and the food she prepares. At the beginning of the poem Piercy states "All over America women are burning dinners." This shows that this is not a solitary fight by a lone woman, but a movement on a large scale. The typical reader may see this as a way of identifying with the message of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The woman in the poem shows us the anger she is feeling is directed at her husband. The typical reader may see these thoughts of her husband's imaginary demise as threats or of really intense hatred. I think that the woman in the poem isn't really plotting to kill her husband. She speaks as though she wants him dead but the over the top ways in which she imagines his end suggest that her rage is impotent. As upset as she may be, it is hardly conceivable that she would actually grill "her husband spitted over a slow fire." It is also highly unlikely that she would serve him a "dead rat with a bomb in its belly/ ticking like the heart of an insomniac." These images are violent but humorous at the same time. I feel if the woman was to do something more realistic like poison his food the threat might be more serious and there for more scary. Focus is now brought back to the woman's feelings about life. "Her life is cooked and digested, nothing but leftovers in Tupperware," is a powerful and telling line as to what the woman feels about herself. She is past her prime. Using the metaphor of a meal, one could associate the preparation stage with childhood, cooking as growing up, and the eating of the meal as her prime. She clearly feels she is past her prime as her life has been digested. She also refers to herself as "leftovers" which may tell us she views herself as less than she once was. She feels as ... The insect was helpless in trying to escape or to climb the edged of the dish so it just stopped trying to look for a way out. It only took a few minutes for the insect to give up about trying to escape and it just stopped walking around. When it ended up on its back it started to use its legs to move around. The insect walked around on its back until it got close enough to the card where it could grab onto it and use that to flip itself over again. I believe the insect was trying to right itself and get off of its back. The insect clearly did not want to be on its back, since it was running around like crazy trying to flip itself back over, but it was unable to do so. • 38. The Tupperware Party: A Symbol Of 1950's Suburban Life The Tupperware Party was a symbol of 1950's suburban living and a fascinating usage of manners and friendship as a method of selling merchandise. Who was Earl Tupper and Brownie Wise? The story of Tupperware begins with its creator, Earl Tupper, an American born Costa Rican inventor and business man. In the 1940s, his experiments with polyethylene slag, having taken inspiration from the lids of paint cans, led him to his holy grail. (Change Slide) Using the waste product of the oil refining process given to him by his supervisor, Earl Tupper created a cone shaped bowl with a cleverly operated air tight seal which he called Tupperware. Tupperware, a product which was developed alongside with postwar suburban living, was wholeheartedly embraced domesticity and conspicuous consumption. It's fashionable pastel designs and amiable hostesses embodies the burgeoning aspirations of white, American suburbia. Whilst Tupperware products like the Party Susan and the 'TV Tumblr' filled what has been described as the 'perfect consumption space of suburbia', the Tupperware party became a symbol of suburban life. P. 133 Tupperware appealed not only in the desire for material luxuries but also a sense of belong. Becoming a dealer meant having a large network of social relations, money and standing in the community. Brownie Wise and Tupperware could be seen as a 1950s version of Steve Jobs and Apple, utilizing an understanding of social networks, manners and the desire fit in with the crowd. Tupperware grew to become such a widely accepted and successful phenomenon that one Methodist preacher spent a Sunday's sermon on the value of Tupperware as an American icon and 'a defensive bulwark against communism'. Tupperware was more than a product, it was a community. Company advertisement, such as the Tupperware Anthem, drew upon an sensationalist, almost cult–like, sense of unity and belonging a – a sense that they belonged to the Tupperware Family, with their head held high, singing praise to the sky. This is completed through the isolation technique of streak plate. The objective of this experiment is to replicate the technique of streak plate but on a much larger scale. Because it is on a larger scale the particles are able to be visually observed as they are isolated using the streaking technique as the experiment is conducted. The benefits of the streaking technique is when a cultures has multiple species they are able to be more easily identified once they have been isolated. This experiment is much like the experiments completed on an agar plate but on one a much larger scale and where techniques ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The particles were even more narrowed down in this final streak allowing for further separation of each individual particle. The streaking utensil was cleaned using the particle remover and returned to the utensil storage area. And the other items collected for this lab were cleaned and returned to their storage areas. Results– The particles that were collected for the lab were very concentrated prior to being mixed into the medium. Once the particles where mixed into the medium they was a decreased in their concentration as the medium allowed for separation by filling the spaces between them. Once the first streak was made it was slightly less concentrated and this allowed for the particles to be spread out over the surface. The concentration of particles that were spread with each streak continued to decrease. In the final streak, as seen in picture 7, the particles were separated almost to the point of being able to individually identify each color of particle. Much as the same results that you might see with a mixed culture that was completed in a lab and final results reviewed under a microscope. Discussion– The conclusion that was made from this experiment was that as the streaking is completed the consistency as well as the concentration degrees allowing for a more accurate identification of the individual particles. The results lead me to this conclusion because as the streaks were completed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Ice Cream Lab Did the solid Ice Cream Formation Change Based on Type of Salt Use? Purpose The purpose of the lab was to identify how the different types of salt applied to ice effect the amount of solid ice cream formed. Background Research Ice cream is a solution with a lower freezing point than H2O therefor regular ice cannot lower the temperature enough for solid product to form (Science Matters). Lowering the temperature farther is the job of salt. NaCl (salt) will dissolve in water (or ice in this case) to form a solution with a lower freezing point. The Fahrenheit system is based off salt solutions with 0° F being the point where a salt solution freezes. By adding salt to the ice surrounding the Ice Cream solution the ice begins the process of melting (Elementary Science Program). When the solid ice transforms into liquid with the addition of salt the process requires heat (Elementary Science ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Salt was mined out of large salt flats that were the remains of ancient sea's that had dried up. Nowadays salt is produced both by mining old lakes and drying up newer lakes. Harvesters will flood a shallow area with salt water and wait for the water to evaporate. When the designated area is dry workers just scrape up the remaining salt. Salt is used to lower the temperature and unless it is created in a lab, which is not a cost effective was to obtain salt, the mining and harvesting causes verities of salt. Sea salt is obtained simply by harvesting dry sea's; this can be done by both mining and farming. Sea salt varies widely and contains many other trace mineral and elements (Health Nut). Kosher salt is small, purer flakes of salt compacted if mined or grown via the evaporation process (Health Nut).
