Ideas, prototypes and projects to
change Granada
LabIN stands for Laboratory of Innovation. The project is
conceived as a citizen laboratory for Granada focused on
citizen innovation. It implements a methodology based on the
generation of ideas, the prototyping of solutions and the
development of projects for a territory. It entails a network of
citizen participation which has two dimensions:
• Physical space (like a laboratory for citizen social
innovation for Granada) and
• Digital space (a global platform for the generation of
ideas and the development of prototypes and projects.

How can technologies contribute to a more
accesible world?
The line of work “Accessible technologies” is a
iniciative of Medialab and “La ciudad
accessible” (The accessible city) which intends to
generate a space for reflexion, awareness and
generation of projects with citizenship projection
about the opportunities that technology offers for the
creation of a more accessible environment for the
needs of the people. Among other aspects practical
experiences are revealed in order to highlight the
need of the development of inclusive and non-
discriminatory digital tools, not only as an act of
social justice but also as a professional and business

‘Connected Learning’ is a cycle of conferences which
emerges with the objective of exploring and analysing
the process of teaching, learning which is produced
through the technology transfer. Its content is based
on a series of conferences which take place
throughout different academic courses. Thus,
conferences will collectively reflect about what is
really new and innovative in the use of digital
technology, we will meet experiences which
combines different methodologies and, above all, we
will inquire about how our way of educate and learn is

Medialab UGR, as a part of the the University of Granada’s Vice-
Rectorate for Research and Knowledge Transfer has created this
International Congress “Digital Territories” – constructing Digital
Social Sciences and Humanities, in order to encourage the
academic discussion, non-academic and social, as well as the
debate and the encounter among all the assistants around topics
related with the wide field of the digital transformation of the Social
Sciences and Humanities. Digital Territories intend to be a place of
encounter to encourage an interdisciplinary approach and the
dialogue among different areas and collectives which work or are
interested in the impact of the technology in the society. The
international congress will have annual periodicity, enhancing the
knowledge of the strategic lines of Medialab UGR, such as

A new approach to the production and
dissemination of scientific knowledge
The digital environment is completely transforming the way in
which scientific knowledge is being produced and
disseminated, also in those areas of research which have
incorporated to the technologic revolution at a later stage,
which is the case of Social Sciences and Digital Humanities.
Nevertheless, these new tools and digital devices do not
always receive the academic recognition they deserve, even if
the development of only one of these products could
consume the professional career of an academic completely.
Knowmetrics intends to highlight the value of the activity of the
digital humanistic taking the singularity of her/his own field of
action as its standpoint, with a open science, transdisciplinary
philosophy oriented to the collaborative work. Knowmetrics is
a project developed in Medialab UGR with researchers of a
variety of Spanish, European and American institutions funded

The videogames phenomena and the
‘gamer’ culture
The intrinsic complexity of the videogame and the
‘gamer’ culture forces to acknowledge the nature of this
phenomena from as many perspectives as possible. The
seminars and workshops ‘Ggames’ were born with this
spirit, with which we pursue the contact among different
communities interested in the videogame world in order
to generate interdisciplinary work dynamics and the
development of future projects in this matter. The
promoters of this initiative show a clear vocation to
break boundaries and agglutinate academic and
professional disparate trajectories, with artists and
researchers from areas such as History, Arts or IT.

Humanities is one of the lines which Medialab
intends to focus on. For them we offer digital
tools for its use in research, teaching or

Helping to research on
Digital Humanities
One of the objectives of Medialab UGR is to increase the
formulation of interdisciplinary projects. Hence, we intend to create
seminars and workshops about how to apply for individual or
consortium projects whose scientific part has a very strong digital
component. In this regard, practical cases of the fulfilment of the
scientific-technical and budget part will be conducted, as well as to
identify which digital tools adopt for one or another project.
Similarly, specific seminars about the European calls (H2020) for
the Humanities and Social Sciences in the digital area will be given:
identification of calls, analysis of which are the objectives, the
impact that is required, etc. Finally, it will be identified other national
calls (BBVA Foundation) or international ones which had included
Digital Humanities as a priority line.
