Parents’ Role on students Poor
performance in Learning
Introduction
Awareness of cycles is good. But many of us only dwell
on the negative implications. Yes, kids are very likely to
mimic our self-destructive behaviours. But, if we do a
good job of parenting, it means children also get a lot of
good things from us! We know parents with good self
esteem tend to raise children with more secure self
esteem. Parents who succeed in education tend to have
children who meet and even surpass their parents’
accomplishments. And while it is true that children of
divorced families are more likely to divorce, it is also true
that children of happily married parents tend to find the
same happiness in adult relationships
Issues occurred
Issues regarding students poor performance in
learning Mathematics, Science and English language.
Lack of interests and motivation
Family-related factors
Lack of confidence in making
decisions or in learning.
Classroom environment
1. Lack of interests and motivation.
Cause and effect
Children who have a poor self-image avoid activities
that they deem beyond their capabilities. Even if they
can actually complete a given task, these students
engage in self-defeating behaviour to protect the little
self-worth they do possess. For them, it is better to
withhold effort or to procrastinate rather than risk
trying, failing, and feeling even worse about them.
Some students do not have good support at home.
The home environment shapes the initial attitudes
that children hold toward learning.
1. Lack of interests and motivation.
Solutions
Parents:
 help their children build these skills in school
years.
 make sure that our child completes his/her
homework.
 talk to our child about school problems and
achievements every day .
 Praise our child’s good behavior.
 Family involvement is one of the most
important contributors to school completion
and success.
2. Family-related factors
Cause and effect
Family-related factors can play a critical role in
a student's academic performance. For
instance, when parents either don't care or are
too busy to care about their children's
performance, the kids can lose their academic
focus. Furthermore, living in poverty also can
distract a child from academics because
survival becomes a more immediate and
pressing priority.
2. Family-related factors
Solutions
Parents:
 Parents must not only supervise homework, but
create a comfortable location for doing homework.
 Make sure our child has a schedule planner for
school and writes down homework assignments
daily.
 Regular communication between parents and
teachers is the key to improving student
achievement.
 Share our knowledge to help teachers adapt lessons to
match your child’s interests and learning style.
3. Lack of confidence in making decisions or
in learning.
Cause and effect
If a youngster doesn’t receive adequate
encouragement throughout childhood, he may
internalize this ongoing message and struggle
with a lack of self-confidence, If parents raise a
child with inordinate criticism, the youngster
might receive a negative message about
herself. Some parents inadvertently stifle a
child’s self-confidence by overprotecting or
steering him away from independence
Parents:
 tackle children’s lack of confidence on a number of
different fronts .
 parents we tackling manageable challenges with our
assistance
 must stop controlling and start coaching.
 Let him/her try to do it himself/herself from the
earliest age.
 We demonstrate how to do something, or we use
words to suggest a strategy, or we simply spot them
Solutions
3. Lack of confidence in making decisions or
in learning.
4. Classroom environment
Cause and effect
Disruptive students may disturb other students.
They may talk constantly, shout out answers, yell
random phrases in the middle of class, hop seats or
bully other students, hoping to get a rise out of
their peers and teachers. Without swift action from
the teacher, this type of student behaviour can
infect an entire class, prompt other students to join
in and prevent students from learning, because
they’ll likely be paying more attention to the class
clown than they are to the teacher
4. Classroom environment
Solutions
Effective classroom management starts on the
first day of school, when teachers discuss class
rules, routines and procedures with their
students. When students know what is
expected of them, their behaviour improves
and they are more equipped to concentrate on
their lessons. If our child seems frustrated by
the lack of routine in her classroom, talk to
her/his teacher.
Conclusion
I know that some days will bring unforeseen
difficulties and that some children seem more
challenging than others. But at least we will
know in our hearts that we have tried our best
to help our children navigate the road of life
successfully.
Thank You

Parents’ role in children

But, if we do a good job of parenting, it means children also get a lot of good things from us! We know parents with good self esteem tend to raise children with more secure self esteem. Parents who succeed in education tend to have children who meet and even surpass their parents’ accomplishments. And while it is true that children of divorced families are more likely to divorce, it is also true that children of happily married parents tend to find the same happiness in adult relationships
