What are non-repellent pesticides?
Non-repellents pesticides are based on a type of chemistry which in
general terms is designed to directly interact with the target pest.
The technology is developed considering biological, ecological and
behavioural variables. Key factors:
Not designed to repell or exclude
Found across a range of pesticide classes
Delayed mode of action
Provide a long term solution, not a short term fix.
They are not SPs or combinations products (SP + non-repellent).

Non-repellent in Pest Control
Non-repellents are not new as a pest control solution:
Anticoagulant Rodent Baits (Storm®)
Cockroach Baits (Goliath® & Amdro® Cockroach Gels)
Ant Baits (Amdro Ant Bait)
Termiticide (Termidor® SC and Termidor Dust)
Insecticides (Phantom® SC, Phantom PI, Termidor SC, Termidor
Dust, Impede®)

Are all non-repellents equal?
It is important to recognise that not all non-
repellents are equal:
Mode of action (Phantom vs
Termidor)
Influence on individual vs population
Influence of formulation
Goliath cockroach gel:
Most effective cockroach gel
Non-repellent to individuals &
population
Death of individuals does not trigger
population response
Efficacious on contact and ingestion

Non-repellent technology advantages
Using a non-repellent package is novel, as the pest control industry
has not been getting the best out of previously available chemistries.
When used in an integrated pest management (IPM) system, non-
repellent technology can provide you with the following.
Improved levels of control
An integrated management system which is effective across
multiple stages of a pests life cycle
Increased treatment flexibility
Improved resistance management
Allows a full product range to work at peak performance

Improved levels of control
Termidor SC was introduced in
2002 and continues to provide
unsurpassed termite control, in all
areas of Australia:
Superior formulation - active
and all other additives
Companion Products -
Termidor Dust.
Product developed considering
termite biology and behaviour:
Rate of kill
Transfer effect
Soil binding characteristics

An integrated management system
across multiple life cycle stages
Phantom PI has been proven to
prevent treated bed bug eggs from
hatching
Phantom PI has also been shown
to lead to mortality in German
cockroach nymphs, not directly
exposed
Chemistry is passed on from
individual to individual and
form generation to generation
More effective controls
Cannot be achieved with
repellent chemistries

Increased treatment flexibility
Non-repellents provide a targeted
approach.
They wipe pests out, not just flush
them out:
Effective non-repellent don’t
flush pests out – designed not
to interfere with pest behaviour.
This results in less chance of
contamination issues.
For the PCO – schedule
treatments during work hours.
For your customer –
convenience, flexibility, peace of
mind.

Allows a full product range to work at peak
performance
As pest managers we need to consider the interaction between our
pesticides:
What is the impact of multiple pesticides working together.
Do they perform as tested?
Well formulated non-repellent products can be used as a package.
Phantom PI, Phantom SC and Goliath Gel:
Tested together and demonstrated performance.
Can be used in tandem to develop a control package.

Rotation, resistance, residual – a full
management system
The most effective non-repellent chemistries are non-repellent to the
individual pest and the population.
The products are designed not to interfere with a pests normal behavior.
They can be used in true IPM strategy (non-chemical / pesticide control).
This reduces the risk of both individuals and populations of pests
ingesting or being exposed to sub lethal doses.
Further, products like Phantom, Termidor and Amdro have different
modes of action.
Perfect resistance management strategy.

Integrated non-repellent control package
What is an integrated non-repellent package?
Having a suite of pesticides which work together to maximise efficacy
Ensuring any one of the pesticides selected does not interfere or
reduce the efficacy of another
Having the right product/s for the right situation
Having a solution which provides you with flexibility

Developing and integrated non-repellent
control program
Identify areas (on-site or offsite) which give rise to pest pressure
Understand what pests need to be controlled in which area
Identify nesting and harborage areas
Decide on what type of treatment is needed
External only (Structure and surrounds)
Internal only (wet areas, kitchen, office, living)

Allows internal treatments to work
more efficiently ie. reduced

imperative – rodents, cockroaches,
ants, spiders:

Interior integrated non-repellent treatments
Interior of a structure typically not
a single zone:
Source (eg. Kitchen).
Sinks (dining, living,
front of house).
Key is to eliminate pests from the
source:
Non-repellents are key as they
do not lock pests in or exclude
pests.
Rather act to control
individuals and populations.
